2 out of 5 eggsJust a ordinary camera

Pros: great LCD

Cons: Poor picture quality

Other Thoughts: This camera has only a 1/2.3" CCD Sensor (6.17mm x 4.55mm). We've all seen dodgy images from high mega pixel cameras and know that after a point, mega pixels don't matter for most people – a 16 MP compact isn't ever going to be as good as a 12 MP Full Frame DSLR. What does matter is sensor size!
The cameras sensor sizes are:
1/3.2"(4.54 x 3.42mm)
1/2.3"(6.17 x 4.55mm)
1/1.7"(7.60 X 5.70mm)
2/3" (8.80 X 6.60mm)
1/1.2"(10.67x 8.0mm)
Micro Four Thirds 4/3"(17.30x13mm)
1" (12.8X9.60mm)
1.5"(18.70X14.00mm)
APS-c (Canon) 22.20X14.8mm
APS-C 23.60x15.60mm
APS-H 27.9 x 18.6mm
Full Frame 36.00 x 24.00 mm
Higher-end Compacts – With demand growing and the price of producing larger sensors falling, there are a growing number of higher-end compact cameras with larger sensors. For example the Fuji film X20 has a 2/3-inch (8.8 x 6.6 mm) sensor Price: $445.50, while the Sony RX100 has an even bigger 1-inch sensor (12.8 x 9.6 mm). Price: $548.00. The Canon G1 X even boasts a 1.5-inch sensor (18.7 x 14 mm) Price: $579.00.
So you get what you pay. If you want to take crude pictures then you go for Cameras sensor size 1/3.2" or1/2.3" without extras at around $100. If you needs more decent pictures, and not to discredit yourself on Face book then you go for around 1"(12.80x9.60mm). Don't be fooled by mega pixles. This is an illusion and deception. Concentrate at lenses quality, CCD sensor size and, Digital Image Processor.

1 out of 5 eggsAuto focus fuzzes out

Pros: Nice zoom

Cons: Autofocus does not stay focused in videos and fuzzes out frequently. Lot's of still pictures are out of focus. Another con is that the two battery canon cameras tend to lose a picture if you try to take another shot before the buffer is cleared. This happens most often when you are taking a very important shot and try to take a second shot to ensure you have the pic....but you lose the good shot because you did not wait for the first one to clear the buffer.

2 out of 5 eggsSo so

Pros: Good optical zoom
Writes fast to SD card
Feels nice in the hand

Cons: Even at highest settings and lowest ISO with lots of light the images are grainy. Just goes to show the the MP means nothing when it comes to a digital cameras picture quality.

3 out of 5 eggsImage noise too much

Pros: Uses aa batteries.
Many nice functions.
Nice overall.

Cons: Can't uses alkalines...really eats batteries. Keep Nimh spares handy. Powerful flash eats batteries.
Image noise high above ISO 200. Horrible to me for enlargements.

Other Thoughts: I love Canon for point and shoot...well I used too. I use Nikon for DLRs. After using Canon p/s for over a decade I won't buy another one. I went to Olympus. This camera is great for 4x6 shots, but using the higher iso's degrades enlarged images....had no problem with this with older Canon's.
