5 out of 5 eggsAcronis True Image 2013

Pros: Quick Delivery, Easy to install, Very easy to install and has already saved my rear end when my C Drive died. Have in the past had to manually install everything! Was so easy to reinstall unto new hard drive and was running computer in about 2 hours. Great software and was on sale for $12.99. Thanks Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Backup / Restore Program!

Pros: Smart and easy way to backup, or restore all, or parts of your machine, in or our of Windows GUI.

Real life saver for compromised, damaged or totally lost system.

Easiest and most complete backup to external media, or restoration from bootable CD: "A Must Have" !

Cons: None so far:

Other Thoughts: I am using Acronis Home since 2004, and never got a problem, yet!

4 out of 5 eggsAcronis saved the day!

Pros: * Very inexpensive when found on sale.
* Very comprehensive functionality, includes all manner of backup and a secure erase utility among other things.
* It works!

Cons: * The UI is a little tedious, especially setting up recurring backups.
* Using the 'full method' of backup it creates a pretty big file (mine was in the neighborhood of 150GB)

Other Thoughts: On a fluke I bought and installed Acronis '13 as one of my backup programs for my W7 desktop and Outlook. About 4 months later my SSD crashed and using the Acronis backup file I was back in business in about 30 minutes!

1 out of 5 eggsForget it

Pros: It worked for a cloning once.

Cons: Never could clone a disk again with it. I decided to try a trial version of 2014 and it wouldn't let me go back to 2013, it just kept telling me to pay for 2014. So I deleted it all and reloaded, gave me the finished box, and it won't start at all. The old 2009 version worked fine, this new stuff is junk.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't even bother with 2014 if this is what it's all about. Can't call tech support either as they have none, that should tell you something.

1 out of 5 eggsAmazingly bad design

Pros: It would be better to find another backup software company.

Cons: As others have said, Acronis is amazingly bad at designing software. We use a business version, Acronis Workstation, and it has many, many problems that have not been fixed even though Acronis has sold new versions.

1 out of 5 eggsSeriously?

Pros: Can't believe they still try to peddle this software. I have never been able to get it to work with Windows 7.

Cons: Offers nothing of value, doesn't work with windows 7.

Other Thoughts: Selling this product is fraudulent.

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg Pulled a Fast One

Pros: Disappointed in Newegg

Cons: Received e-mail from newegg about "special" on Acronis TI 2013. Spent the time installing, then upgrading to latest version....went looking for the "Plus Pack" only to find the packaging material falsely stated that it "came with this version". According to Acronis, it doesn't.

Also found out that it was not latest version. Went to site for the usual "upgrade" within grace period but that period ended August 28th (neweggg's special e-mail was September 10th). Not only was I out of date, I had to "pay full price" to be eligible. So newgg's e-mail about a "special" was totally bogus since I'd now have to pay full price anyway to get the current version. And if that's the case, I'd rather use Shadow Protect Desktop from StorageCraft

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: Nice GUI

Cons: Corrupt backup without warning.
Confusing log info.

Other Thoughts: Well, it is sad to own Acronis name. I've been using Acronis for a couple of years. It has some hicups, but I still stick with it.

Now I run my own Home Server 2011 and I installed both Disk Director and True Image (called Backup and Recovery for server) server versions. No errors from installation.

First server backup. It reported some errors with backups. I did some research and found the errors from shadow file setting (VSS?). Reset the setting and backup ran ok.

Another backup problem. When I tried to set the backup compresson to high, the backup froze and would not go. So I had to stop the backup and set the compresson to normal or none. Finally backup completed.

The restore was a disaster.

I used to Disk Director Server to move a partition from one disk to another disk. The task completed with failure. The source partition was removed, but the target partition was corrupt. So I lost data.

So I called upon the software to restore from the backup. The restore failed completely with tons of errors. It reported that the backup image was corrupt and could not complete. I mounted the backup image and tried to manually copy files from the backup image. I did salvage some data, but some files were lost. Some files could not be copied.

Backup software has to be 100% reliable. Disk drives can fail and restoring is what we pay for backup software. Acronis has failed very badly.

I'll stay away from Acronis and try to find something else. I lost data.....

1 out of 5 eggsReplacing with 2009 Version

Pros: Hasn't caused smoke to come out of my computer. Yet....

Cons: Dangerous. Usually, automated backup (to disk) doesn't even try to run. No notifications of failure unless you check it manually. It works for a few days and stops again.

Online backup (to cloud) tool is useless. Slow. Crashes. Don't bother.

Other Thoughts: I loved Acronis 2009 and really wanted to like this product. Bought two copies but only installed one. Still using 2009 on my laptop and it works MUCH better.

Can't get any support since Acronis site requires a login and then says my support is expired unless I want to pay per incident.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I find it to be an easy to use program. I have successfully recovered images several times. Far superior to the Win 7 imaging.

Cons: None
