1 out of 5 eggs3/4 dead after 10 months I want money back

This review is from: Actiontec PWR511K01 500Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps

Pros: Worked fine until it died. High speed transferred to basement area or rooms further away from the router where signal does not get.

Cons: 3/4 died leaving me with no connection. Have only one left but obviously no help. These lasted only 10 months. I want my money back.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect solution to extend an Ethernet network

This review is from: Actiontec PWR511K01 500Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps

Pros: Easy set up - plug into the wall and connect the WAP or other device and up in running less than 5 minutes. Receiving almost the same performance on the WAP that is connected to the Actiontec as I do on the direct broadband connection. Had one of the devices fail after 6 months and was quickly replaced by Actiontec.

Cons: Haven't found any to date

Other Thoughts: This is a great alternative to running Ethernet cable. Usually less expensive and provides a lot of flexibility on locating you end devices. Quality solution.

3 out of 5 eggsSpeed advertised is a lie

This review is from: Actiontec PWR511K01 500Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps

Pros: - Easy to install : plug and play
- Small, nice form factor

Cons: - Maximum speed of 100Mbit (due to 100Mb ethernet ports)

Other Thoughts: Although the product is called a "500Mbps powerline network adapter", it is featuring 100Mbps ethernet ports. This mean the maximum theoretical speed achievable would be 100Mbit, so pratically it will be way less than that.
Out of that, the device works quite well, very easy to install, but don't expect it to get more than 50-60Mbit out of it.

2 out of 5 eggsAcceptable, but not entirely stable

This review is from: Actiontec PWR511K01 500Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps

Pros: Inexpensive (at least when I got them)
Packets often arrive at the remote destination

Cons: Disconnects, often doesn't reach rated speed.

Other Thoughts: I had a set of TP-Link 200Mbps powerline adapters that worked like a charm. Truly plug and play. These have disconnected three times in the two months I've used them, and don't reconnect on their own. I have to go press the button on them to reset them.
They get two eggs for mostly working most of the time, but that's being extremely generous.

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Actiontec PWR511K01 500Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps

Pros: -Easy to set up
-Better speeds than wireless
-Very quick and easy RMA process

Cons: -One of my two units died after only two months of use

Other Thoughts: Setting the RMA up for my device was VERY quick and easy. Hold time was short, they only asked one troubleshoot question, verified my info and sent the new unit. The shipping for sending the broken unit back, though, cost almost as much as buying a new unit.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent power line networking

This review is from: Actiontec PWR511K01 500Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps

Pros: Create power line network without much effort.
Simple configuration.

Cons: Barely more speed then a wireless network.

Other Thoughts: I got these to extend my network without having to pull cat5 cables and have it somewhat more reliable then a wireless since there is a lot of interference where I live. To my surprise I plugged them in and they started working directly with the D-Link adapters I already had, teaches me right not to research how the security of these adapters works firs.
