1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: None

Cons: I have had two sent to me in a row from the manufacture. If you need to do a factory reset with just the hardware, especially if it was on a vlan, it is bricked. The factory reset has just not worked, netgear tech support can not figure it out.

5 out of 5 eggs3 Years and still going strong

Pros: The price was so good on this switch that I purchased another one about 6 months after my first one as a backup. Heck, after 3 years the original switch I bought is still running strong with no issues. I use 14 of the 24 ports available and none of them have gone bad yet. Typically I've found that a port or two here and there will die on switches over time but this switch has exceeded my expectations. My spare is still brand new in the box (I did test it however, and it worked fine as well). I was thinking of switching over to 1Gbps gear in my rack in the basement, but 100Mbps is still serving my purposes well and it looks like it will be for a long time coming with this switch and my spare. :)

Cons: None at all.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch

Pros: Opened the switch plugged it in worked great, hooked it up to my netgear router worked great, and got it mainly for lan parties and worked out great so far. It also comes with a lifetime warranty and rebate, for 50 bucks it is AWESOME.

Cons: Nothing so far, but i have only had it for 2 weeks so far, only time will tell.

Other Thoughts: none

Pros: Very reliable switch, running good for over 6 months now

Cons: Rebate seem to be questionable, they claim they never received my mailed material...

1 out of 5 eggssoft failure

Pros: Nice box. Great switch while it lasted.

Cons: After about 2 years of use, switch stopped providing access to shared folders on a 6-PC SOHO network, and direct access to the internet through the router was really slow. Access to shares would drop for long periods. I might see some of the folder names on a shared folder, but none of the content. I ruled out configuration issues and other physical components. The problem is the switch. I've since learned that (1) NETGEAR switches are notorious for this problem, associated with poor quality capacitors that fail over time, (2) NETGEAR offers a lifetime warranty since 2007, (3) the warranty is a pain because it requires proof of purchase, you pay shipping of failed unit, shipping of returned unit, and that the returned unit is refurbished and frequently still in failure (so you pay shipping multiple times). Item (1) is well documented all over Newegg and the net, Item (3) also shows up in multiple instances.

Other Thoughts: I'm trying out D-Link (DGS-2208 gets good reviews).

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Switch!

Pros: I love this switch! It works like a charm and does exactly what it is supposed to. I also liked that it used a standard PSU power connector instead of having any bulky transformers or anything.

Cons: When I first plugged it in, all of the lights came on, even though there was nothing plugged in. Come to find out, the unit was DOA. The RMA process was incredible though. Very easy to deal with and I had a new one in no time. Great customer service!

Other Thoughts: LED's could have been next to the actual jack instead of off to the side. Sometimes, it can be kind of hard to tell which port has activity.
It also came with the rack-mounting hardware, but didn't have a need for that.
