1 out of 5 eggsJUNK!!!!

Pros: 1.still works? although max lan speed is 6mbps
2. will no longer buy netgear!

Cons: 1. since buying this thing in 06 always had issues with pc's staying or connecting @ 1g speeds
2. in 2012 does not hold 10mbps network
3. replaced in 2013 with another t@-^ink NO issues with connections staying @ 1gps
4. have had issues with all netgear products purchased
5. will no longer buy netgear!

Other Thoughts: stay away from netgear imo. to many better options out there.
this thing does get very warm

1 out of 5 eggsBe wary of V2 model

Pros: Original G605 still works in terms of speed albeit with a finicky power supply jack.

Cons: Like many others, I suddenly saw sudden uncorrectable drop in transfer speeds on the v2 models. It is a real pain and long process to figure out when these things die because they are simple and assumed to be reliable. One egg because these two had the exact same issue and my wasted time was doubled...

Other Thoughts: Had two V2 models and one standard G605.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor performance

Pros: cost

Cons: slow

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these because they were very inexpensive. I periodically have had problems with devices on one of these switches... just overall poor network and internet speed. I replaced one of the with a netgear GS108 and have to say that the difference is pretty dramatic. I was surprised.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat item

Pros: Bought this in 2006, ran it daily until I upgraded to a larger version.

I cannot imagine how many TB of data this thing has seen in its lifetime!

Cons: A bit large but then again this was for sale in 2006.

Other Thoughts: Unbelievable that this is still being sold.

1 out of 5 eggsNetGear GS605 is Junk

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Bandwidth sucks. I connected two computers and the best throughput I could get was 1MBPS. It's basically useless if you need to move large amounts of data.

3 out of 5 eggsFinally died

Pros: It worked for a while!

Cons: Then it died, a few years later. Boo. Switches shouldn't just die. Shoddy!

1 out of 5 eggsWorks-But...

Pros: read cons.

Cons: The GS605 works great for what is does but, it's a RFI (Radio frequency Interference) generating hash box! If you need a switch for several computers in an RFI sensitive environment don't buy the GS605 it's just another chicom piece of junk. This is why I give the GS605 one egg.

4 out of 5 eggsGood switch

Pros: I'm using this as a switch between my router and TV center. It works great for what I need. Plugged in an entertainment PC, xBox 360, TV, and satellite box to the network and works great. No issues in speed drops or disconnections from the internet or network.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Good switch, a little overpowered for me since I'm not using it to the full potential but still great.
