With four wired ports and the wireless connection, you're ready to take on the Internet and all it has to offer. Or maybe you just need a local network off the 'Net for your small office. Maybe you'll hook your desktop up by cable, and carry your wireless laptop to your favorite sitting spot. Control and configuration are easy with browsers like Internet Explorer 5.0, Firefox 2.0 or Safari 1.4 (or newer). (It's best to do your configuration from a hard-wired connection, not the wireless.)

5 out of 5 eggsIt just works

Pros: English speaking tech support! Minimal hold to talk to tech support. Which I only needed to get the wi-fi part set up.
Wired worked perfectly and immediately.
Bought this to replace a brand new Encore brand crapola router and I should have just paid the price to begin with.

Cons: The setup disc crashed repeatedly for the wifi setup but 1 call to tech support had it working perfectly. (windows xp)

5 out of 5 eggsAm I lucky or is this a good router?

Pros: I've always bought Linksys, but based on price, I figured I'd give Netgear a shot after having two different Linksys wireless routers died within a couple years.

As everybody says, this router sets up easy. It took 15 minutes and would have been quicker if I hadn't been writing down notes as I went through the processs.

The router worked immediately (both wired and wireless) without any glitches. It's been a few weeks and so far so good.

The wireless connection seems to have a good signal, we have a fairly large house and haven't had a problem yet with dropped connections.

So as my title says, am I just lucky or is this a good router.

Cons: None. YET!

Other Thoughts: I liked the price!

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: It works when connected to with ethernet

Cons: Worked for a few days, then it suddenly would not connect as a wireless access point to another router. Once plugged in using ethernet it works as a switch, but not wirelessly. Yes I disabled DHCP and connected to main router through one of ethernet ports. Also checked for a firmware update. I tried it on two networks - my own and a customer's. Same issue. Junk. Not even worth jumping through Netgear's nightmare hoops to return it. I swore I'd never buy another Netgear product but I needed this in a hurry and ran to the local store. My mistake.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the est Routers i have ever owned!

Pros: Extremely easy to set up. Clear and concise instructions and descriptions of what things are. No hassle to configure. Easy as pie to upgrade the firmware (They automatically check it for you!) Very easy to connect your wireless devices to it without any hassle.
Another plus for me is having a "On and Off" Switch for the Wifi. I hate turning my routers off at night, because it can lead to the modem and router not syncing correctly. And i do not like intruders in my network. So it has a nice convenient switch to turn off teh Wifi at night.

What else can i say? As i stated in the title, this IS the best router i have had the pleasure of owning.
I have been using Linksys (Being a Top Named Brand back then) for many years. And they are very finicky to work with. And if something went wrong with them you were pretty much left to your own devices to figure out the problem. I have noticed a decline in their products. And i finally had it with my last router. Many of my fellow techs suggested i go with Netgear. After doing some research, i found this one. Now being an old die hard Linksys fan it was hard to make the switch. But now that i have been using this router i do not think i will be going back to Linksys anytime soon.
I HIGHLY recommend Netgear for any of your Networking needs!

The technical support community for Netgear is phenomenal. The people are very friendly and courteous there, and are always willing to help you out in a very clear, concise, and descriptive way. I cant recommend them enough. They go way beyond the standard customer service/technical support even if your warranty has ran out.

Cons: None that come to mind!

Other Thoughts: Just something to watch out for when you forst set it up. After you have set it up, and made your configurations. Make sure you LOG OUT every time you are done with the configuration page. If you do not sometimes another PC will try to take ownership of it. (Rather weird, but an easy fix.)

1 out of 5 eggsWNR1000

Pros: Looks nice...easy to install

Cons: Absolutely horrible router....sure it was easy to install and user friendly but it drops me constantly and has halved my connection speed. Mind you I am using all wired, no wireless here. And it does this when I am simply browsing the internet. Worse experience with a router I have ever had.
DO NOT BUY THIS! May be an ok piece of hardware but the software is beyond awful. Go with a different router, I know I will be

5 out of 5 eggsEasy installation

Pros: Easy step-by-step instructions for setup. Installation CD basically does the entire configuration for you.

Cons: None really, perhaps the box could include a simple user manual that includes a diagram of the features on the device itself.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very easy set up

Cons: I'm a little miffed that it wouldn't allow spaces in my wifi name like some other routers do. "FBIvan12" doesn't look the same as "FBI van 12"

Other Thoughts: has held up very well, doesn't overheat like other routers, pretty sleek set up.

1 out of 5 eggsDead at 11 months

Pros: About the cheapest N Router you will find.

Cons: It will still support a LAN, but the wan port on it is dead and it won't connect to the internet through any of the ports.

Other Thoughts: 39.99...
I got my monies worth.

If you look on the details page, it says:

Limited Warranty period (parts): Lifetime
Limited Warranty period (labor): Lifetime

I took that to mean that they would replace it when it died.

They said the warranty was up. After a short service call where I tried to explain what was wrong to someone who barely spoke english, the customer service agent hung up on me, though I wasn't being rude in any way.

Though at work, I built my network with netgear products, this has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Neatgear customer service is the worst I have ever experienced.

Newegg needs to remove the "Lifetime" tag from the warranty section.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for an apartment

Pros: QoS, near firewall level security, optional guest network. Hasn't dropped a single connection since being powered up for the first time 11 months ago, even with all four LAN ports populated and several WiFi devices connected, all with full bandwidth. Full signal strength in every corner of my apartment and out on the balcony. <--- WIN

Cons: Not N draft, but you already knew that...
