5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switches!

Pros: These switches have been in service about two years now. I have a set of 3 stacked, one remote via dual multimode fiber trunk and one remote via dual copper trunk. The remotes are 48 ports the stack are two 24 port and one 48 port. VLANS work perfectly. QoS is a breeze. Trunking on LAG circuits is easy. Jumbo frames works.

Cons: Menu system as someone else said is a bit slow. I believe it is AJAX based. But that said, it is intuitive to use. Fans can be loud (but in a datacenter with 500-1000 fans whats a few more dB's of noise! I wear hearing protection in datacenters anyway.)

Other Thoughts: I have been creating networks for different clients for almost 30 years. I've seen hardware come and go. I am Cisco certified, and I love Cisco, but these Netgear switches are really well built for the average LAN use. They were so good that I bought some smaller ones for my own home use!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Stackable unit

Pros: This is a great rack unit. I've purchased 4 of them so far all stacked in a nice pile full of Cat6 : ) The HDMI backbone link is nice because it means you dont have to use up any ports to link all the switches together. When I bought these there was a 2 hundred dollar rebate on EACH - which was nice - but not the only reason i chose these. The units themselves are really nice looking, and the lighting system is intuitive. The ID (for stacking) readout is nice. Management software isnt the fastest but it works. Supports jumbo frames, gigabit ethernet, PoE (with a nice button to switch the LEDs to show which ports are using PoE). Overall i am very happy with the 4 I have. I hope these are still available when I need more.

Cons: None that I have encountered yet.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is still King.

5 out of 5 eggsInsane feature set at this price!

Pros: Dead-simple setup. Handles stacking with zero work. Could benefit from slightly better documentation.

Cons: Under load, this unit /can/ get loud if you don't have supplemental cooling in your LAN room. (Seriously, I've heard quieter vacuum cleaners...from the 60's.) Provided you keep it cool with external AC, however, it's not bad at all.

Other Thoughts: The next iteration of these could easily combine Session Border Controller functionality. That would be a nice add.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Switch!

Pros: Fantastic switch with Stacking and POE. Rock Solid. Stacks through HDMI port in back, with 4Gb/s backplane. Uses standard HDMI pin configuration, so you can use good (v1.4) HDMI cables for your backplane.

Cons: Um... They're not for desktop use, so don't complain about the noise the fans make. The management interface seems a bit sluggish, you'd think it'd be a little faster with the horsepower that these switches are built with.

Other Thoughts: I have 3 of the 24 port version used in a manufacturing plant. 1 of the three are in a separate room for the server rack using a 25' HDMI 22AUG cable to connect them. No different than using the bundled HDMI, but I get the extra length. The 4Gb connection to the server rack greatly boosted the overall throughput in our network. Sure beats trunking 4 ethernet ports together!

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Using this to power voip phones. I haven't setup any vlans or qos. So I cant comment on that. Other than that it's running great.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsa+++++

Pros: Great auto config for vlans and QoS

Cons: needs stronger brackets

Other Thoughts: i have 3 stacked and they work like a charm. I would say go this way over base line cisco, hdmi linking is amazing :)
