1 out of 5 eggsFantastic, except when its not, and then it physically breaks.

Pros: Sleek design. Intuitive setup. Makes a nice paperweight

Cons: Hotter than the flames of hell even with complete 360 ventilation. This thing regularly dropped wireless connectivity until I dropped the transfer rate to its lowest settings, even for my PC that it was literally sitting on top of, so the broadcast range was less than 1 foot. Eventually, the wireless function became completely useless. While adding a WPS client, I made the mistake of trying to use the physical button (the big dome with annoying lights). At first, the button didn't move at all. No click. No bump. Nothing. Then it made an audible SNAP and began searching for the WPS client which connected perfectly, then it began searching for the WPS client, then it began searching for the WPS client. Nothing but a space heating brick at this point. Customer Support has been entirely useless so far and offered no help. I seriously want to send this thing back. Not worth the money.

Pros: lasted me 5 years so far

Cons: The coverage on this thing is terrible. In my small Houston apt it fails to provide coverage to my wife's laptop across the room. seriously no walls or anything, just fifteen open feet of air and she gets one bar. Although I've not had the connection issues others have had, this product is not adequate to fill a home with coverage. I am typing this in my bedroom on my phones 4g connection because my wifi router can't reach the twenty feet through one thin wall. I'd recommend looking elsewhere (linksys or d-link).

4 out of 5 eggsGood deal for the price

Pros: I have owned this router for about a year. I have never had a problem with it. I am confused by all the bad reviews. The only issue I have is that there is no support for ddwrt or tomato or other alternate firmware that I can find. But that is my fault for not doing more research and not the Netgear's fault. I don't use it for gaming. I use it to connect my Roku, 3 Linux computers, an Android phone, an iPhone and my old school Kindle. Never had connection issues, never drops, once the devices were connected the first time they are always connected when I'm in range. I stream Netflix, Youtube, Hulu and other video sources with no problems. Overall good performance for a mid range consumer router.

Cons: No support for 3rd party firmware yet

Pros: Works great when it does. User interface is pretty intuitive.

Cons: WiFi just stops working. Reboot fixes it for a while. Gets ungodly slow until a reboot then it works fine for a random amount of time, usually a week to a month. My laptops usually will keep going, but my smart phones (a Droid MAXX and MAXX HD) just stop talking to it until it is rebooted. This is my second unit. The first one the WiFi utterly just died on it and wouldn't come back at all. Thought it was my DSL having issues, but when I do speed tests on a wired connection compared to the wireless the speed is drastically different.

Other Thoughts: replaced a WRT54G with this. Wish I hadn't. the WRT54G was MUCH more reliable. I am running the latest firmware as well.

2 out of 5 eggsWell it almost works

Pros: It Connects me to the internet.
It has a decent interface.
It is almost usable

Cons: It is stupid slow. I am a online gamer, i play games such as BF4 alot and this router will not get the job done. A 4 and half year old router provides better speed than this. The packet loss I get is awful and makes my games unplayable. Do not get this. there are far better routers out there for around the same
price.

Other Thoughts: At first i thought it was my WiFi card in my pc, so I replaced that and got a tiny bit better connection but it almost negligible during gameplay

Pros: worked right out of the box and setup easily.

Cons: Started dropping connections later the first day that I set it up. Thought at first it might be the modem which was an older cable modem from my cable provider so I replaced that. The router still dropped connection every now and then but I learned to live with it till yesterday when it dropped everything. I couldn't reconnect even after resetting it a couple of times. It shows up having very good signal strength on both my computers but you can't connect to it to save your life. I'm sending this review using my 6 year old Linksys WRT 54 GL which I plan to replace with another Linksys if I can find one as good as this one!!! I'm sure there might be things I could do to make this thing work but it shouldn't take so much time and effort when there are better alternatives

5 out of 5 eggsOver a year now and still works fine

Pros: Works well with all ports full and eight wireless devices going at the same time. I put a heavy load on this with gaming, several video streams from netflix and five security cameras. It's not broken down once since I've had it.

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: I fail to understand why people have such a hard time with this thing. I don't claim to be an IT guy but most who do seem to have a terrible time understanding how to keep devices connected. It's really not that difficult to set ports and static addresses if you're serious about keeping a stable infrastructure. Some folks give themselves a max rating of tech knowledge and then complain that they can't figure out this simple router. seriously. This thing has served me well for all the stuff that I have running though it. I'd buy it again if I had to but I've had it for over a year now so.. cheers.

Pros: It worked the first 4 months.

Cons: Lasted about 4 months. Really terrible and frustrating router. Constantly drops connection and when there is connection, it's extremely slow. Netgear customer support is just as bad and doesn't seem like they know what they're doing or talking about. All they do is ask the same questions over and over again.

Other Thoughts: I usually use D-Link or Linksys routers, but decided to try Netgear out. Terrible mistake.

Pros: None.

Cons: Slow. Poor software. Poor support.

Other Thoughts: Connects through Windows Protected Setup. My laptop doesn't have a button, instead it generates a code to be entered into the registrar list on the router. I can't find any such list, so I can only connect as a guest. Connection is so slow it makes dial-up look impressive. Cannot get a response from Netgear chat support.

Pros: I've done I.T. work for 15 years and this is the worst router I ever had to deal with. Drops cell phones constantly. Will not allow my wireless printer to stay connected. If you don't want the blinking blue L.E.D.'s to light up your living room you'll have to revert to older firmware. I DESPISE this router!

Cons: drops connections, firmware faulty, admin interface clunky and confusing, by default screws up most connections.

Other Thoughts: C'mon Netgear, you used to be good., get with the program.
