5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Small Business or Advanced homeowner

Pros: Easy to configure, Plug it in and it works. Gigabit Support Green (Low power useage), Some minor configuration like QOS and VLAN and Port Mirroring.

Cons: I agree with the previous reviewer that it is strange that you need Adobe Air to configure this router. Unfortunately it does not have a built in web browser, but considering you will probably only log in once a year, This is not too much of an issue for me.

Other Thoughts: Lets face it this is an unmanged hjub with some basic confiuration. Perfect for most small business or an advanced home owner. If you are looking for a truly fully managed switch you will have to shel out more money, but I can't imagine why you wood need to more flexibility out of a 16 port switch.

Pros: - Decent price per port for a configurable switch.
- Low power (12 watts max).

Cons: - No web configuration.
- No telnet/ssh configuration.
- Proprietary configuration utility is Windows only, no OSX or Linux support.
- Configuration utility requires the configuring windows system to be on the same IP subnet as the switch, a problem for some of the vlan configurations you might want to setup.
- Configuration utility requires internet access. Especially annoying if you are trying to configure the switch from a system with a temporarily changed IP address to match the switches default IP, and the switches default subnet is not routable on your network.
- No configuration options for flow control.
- No configuration options for port speed, duplex mode, or auto negotiation.

Other Thoughts: After verifying the limitations as best I could with Netgear phone support, I RMA'd the switch back to Newegg. I do not need another simple switch, and that is all I could have used it for on my network.

One last engineering complaint: Using Adobe Air for a non-portable switch configuration utility? Really? Some project manager at Netgear needs to think things through a bit better.
