1 out of 5 eggsnever worked

Pros: none

Cons: installed on 3 computers all running windows 10. all the computer recognized it but it never functioned as a wifi adapter. Contacted customer support who were unable to resolve the issue, and offered to replace the item, but only with an older version. I sent it back to newegg for a full refund!

Other Thoughts: Possible this was a compatibility issue with Windows 10, but Netgear has been around long enough to not have that kind of issue. in-fact thats why I bought this one.

Now I have a $2 one from china! No Brand name and was plug and play for windows 10 no installation disk needed!

3 out of 5 eggsnevermind

Pros: works

Cons: I was getting throttled by comcast, so please disregard my other review

Other Thoughts: connecting via network cable is still the best.

1 out of 5 eggsI concur - FAIL!

Pros: worked for a few months.

Cons: Basically the same thing everyone else is saying.....
Using this adapter you'll find yourself wishing you had dial-up. worked fine at first, but now its a joke. barely works. very unstable, most I've ever seen it hit was 2.5 mbps download. this product has been ruining my internet experience.

Other Thoughts: If waiting ten minutes for sites like facebook to load sounds like a good time, or if you are a slowsky like the turtles in the commercial, this is for you.

On the upside I learned about and bought vpn service, upgraded to comcast blast service, and bought a new modem. Process of elimination, right?

1 out of 5 eggsNo Support

Pros: Unknown.

Cons: Their registration confirmation email says, "Our trained Customer Support Team is here to assist you. Contact us via email anytime. It’s unlimited and free for as long as you own your NETGEAR WNA1000." I needed support but they told me it was only available for 90 days after purchase. I sent them their own email but they refused to explain and I now can't use the adapter.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: Small, sleek design

Cons: Disconnects, slow speed, propriety software

Other Thoughts: This adapter constantly drops the connection, even though it has a strong signal. When it does work, the speed is incredibly slow. I've spent many hours trying to 'fix' this adapter, thinking it's some conflict with Windows 7. Its proprietary connection software fights with Windows. I've given up.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Small

Cons: Disconnects randomly several times per day, even though my cheapo random Chinese brand $9.99 wifi dongle works just fine.

Other Thoughts: Avoid, unless you don't like being connected to the internet.

1 out of 5 eggsStone-Age

Pros: The only pro I can think of is that it would make a great charm for a key chain if you drilled a hole in it.

Cons: This product gives me speeds of 56k or less, even though I'm not more than 15 feet away from the router. I feel like I traveled back to 1995. Absolutely awful quality. If you like to navigate the web while downloading something, or use Skype to call someone, don't buy this. Doing more than one of those functions at a time will turn this product into a vegetable.

Other Thoughts: The only reason you should buy this product would be to gift it to someone that you want to aggravate.

1 out of 5 eggsStay clear of these

Pros: Works reasonably well when setup correctly (for Windows XP). Somewhat slow compared to published specification. I'm on FIOS on the east coast.

Cons: Uses proprietary connection software rather than integrating with Windows wireless network management facility. Hangs up every other reboot. Required daughters to have knowledge not normally needed and/or admin password to connect to the internet every other day. Replaced unit with a much less expensive Belkin unit that performs similarly but doesn't hang up on the network with every other reboot.

Other Thoughts: Netgear used to make pretty good stuff. This isn't in that category and I've learned (eventually) to avoid their equipment... along with Linksys/Cisco and a few others. If these outfits would stick to what they once did best and not try to control their customers rather than compete for their business they all might make more money.

2 out of 5 eggsNot impressed with range

Pros: Easy install low impact design does not interfere with other USB ports.

Cons: Speeds falls off rapidly as you increase distance from router.

Other Thoughts: This dongle does very poorly with connection speeds at distances greater then 20 ft. One room away and I was at 52Mbps connect speed. The best connect speed I got with a Netgear N router 2.4Ghz was 65Mbps at 5 feet away. So if speed is important to you pass on this device.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes a OK job

Pros: Compact design is the big selling point

Cons: Certainly not going to get huge range or speed

Other Thoughts: I see one really negative review which is unfair and not being realistic about this dongle WiFi. For one where would a antenna go on this tiny thing to expect it would provide much range? Second I am surprised this tiny thing does anything.
The setup on a Windows 7 64 bit notebook was simply and straight forward. I used only the option to install the driver as I knew how to connect to my network. The CD installed the USB driver then prompted me to install the USB dongle and it was done. I was not surprised that even though I was less then 10 feet from the router I could only manage a 64 MBPS connection speed using N series WiFi on the 2.4Ghz band which is all the dongle supports. Still, as I said before. Anyone expecting too much from such a small device is not being practical.
