1 out of 5 eggsTotal GARBAGE equipment, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY

Pros: NONE.
We have nothing but Netgear equipment in our home, 3 routers, 2 repeaters, etc... This thing is total garbage and sadly have 2 of them.

Cons: It shuts down all the time.
Does not restart on reboot, have to reinstall software over again and again and again.
Sometimes have to change USB ports to get working. Have tried all versions of the drivers, still not working .
Have tried on MULTIPLE COMPUTERS, we have 9 in our home and have 2 of these piece of junk devices at $55 a piece, what a waste.
DO NOT BUY, total junk.

Other Thoughts: Finally bought another brand - Linksys WUSB6300 and it works beautifully.

1 out of 5 eggsWhen the install software can't find the hardware, you know it's hosed.

Pros: - Can't give any as I never got the product to work.

Cons: - It would help if the manufacturers own Install Genie could find their own hardware. The only indication of success I had was when I inserted it into a USB port the device driver said it installed properly. To bad the install Genie couldn't find it. I never got to browse available wireless networks much less connect to one.

I wasted four hours trying to get this thing to work.

Other Thoughts: - Would I recommend this to anyone? Are you insane?

1 out of 5 eggsDont even bother buying this product. Doesnt work.

Pros: Did not buy from Newegg.

Well Netgear played a practical joke on me by creating this product in the first place. Which made me laugh at my stupidity of buying this product. So I give them that.

Cons: Where do I start?

I built my desktop recently and bought this Wifi adapter as it wasn't possible for me to connect using an Ethernet cable. Xfinity is my ISP. It has always worked great for me. I had never had to call them for tech support, flawless service, until the doomed day when I bought this spawn from hell (NETGEAR WNDA4100-100NAS). I plugged the adapter in my PC and installed the appropriate drivers for Windows 10. It seemed to work great for the first 30 seconds. Started downloading drivers for my GFX card and other drivers as I had freshly installed Windows. And then from nowhere bam! Internet stopped working. Restarted my PC and router several times, uninstalled and installed drivers a couple of times but to no use. My net just refused to work. And then the weirdest thing happened, my roommate started complaining about WiFi not working. Thus I called Comcast and they reset my connection from their end and again my net started working fine for approx 30-40 seconds and again the same issue started. It stopped working for my roommate too! Then it struck me that N900 is messing up something with my WiFi network. So I tried using my WiFi on other devices(phone, tab, laptop) and my net connection wont work. So I disconnected the N900 adapter and suddenly Internet works just fine on all devices on the WiFi network!! It worked from my roommate too!

It turns out not only does this device not work it also messes up the network by some voodoo magic for all the devices on the network. Not only does this not work, its malicious. It should be outright illegal to even manufacture this product! I am OK with this product not working on its own, but it also messes up the Internet connection for all the devices on the WiFi network.

Returning in as soon as my PCIe WiFi adapter arrives from a competitor of Netgear.

TLDR; Bought NETGEAR WNDA4100-100NAS. Gives horrible performance and messes up internet connection for all devices on the WiFi network. After disconnecting it, all other devices can access internet again.

Moral of the story: Netgear, not even once!

3 out of 5 eggsWorked like a charm for 5/6 months.

Pros: 2.4 and 5ghz connections, very durable, sleek look.

Cons: Connection drops every 5 seconds. I've had the adapter for a good 5/6 months, there used to be no problems at all. I have a netgear router aswell so I connect via the WPS function, and the connection still drops (which is should not).

Other Thoughts: Unless you have a spare $60 laying around, not worth the investment.

5 out of 5 eggsSmooth connection

Pros: Works well for online games such as World of Warcraft, League, Runescape, etc.

I'm able to do high rated arenas + raids in WoW without lagging or disrupted connections

Easy to install + high quality

Cons: Cord is a bit long

Can't run multiple internet connections at once (via computer + adapter).. you have to disable one to run the other.

Other Thoughts: Worth the price... much better than having to replace my laptop's internal adapter.

1 out of 5 eggsBSODs

Pros: None

Cons: Causes BSODs
So called drivers included with Win7
Manually stripped drivers from win7, installed Netgear driver, still causes BSODs.
The machine runs perfectly with all other WLAN adapters I have installed on it, and no wlan adapters at all.
If you run Win7 with Gigabyte z68 mobo you definitely don't want to waste your money on this device. I won't even bother trying it on any of our other production machines

2 out of 5 eggsProblems with Z87 motherboards

Pros: Good 2.4 & 5.0 performance. Includes stand. WPS button on adapter. Sleek appearance.

Cons: Causes problems on motherboards with Z87 chipsets. Netgear seriously lags with driver updates. Large profile takes up adjacent USB ports.

Other Thoughts: I had no problems with this for over a year on a motherboard with an X58 chipset. I upgraded to a Z87 and suddenly there are weird USB problems. Process of elimination proved that this adapter was the problem. Have tried everything possible to resolve it, and even went as far as reinstalling Windows 7. I've tried the generic MediaTek/RAlink drivers (Netgear's official ones are crippled and seriously behind) and that doesn't solve it either.

Contacted Netgear support and was basically told to pound sand. Shame, because it's actually a good adapter other than this bizarre incompatibility.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to install - works like a champ!

Pros: Installation was a breeze. Now getting faster speeds and longer range (along with other network options what were out of reach of my other wireless).

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I wanted to keep my Toshiba laptop internal WiFi (not to delete drivers) but wanted fater speeds and a longer range at times that I would have heavier WiFi needs. Was looking for a USB device that was not bulky. I initially tried a ASUS USB-AC56 however had blue screen of death (Win 8.1) every time I plugged the device in due to conflict with the Toshiba drivers (even though the Toshiba drivers were disabled). The Netgear WNDA4100 installed like a breeze and works like a champ even with the Toshiba WiFi drivers active! This is just what the doctor ordered!

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Wireless adapter I've Ever had

Pros: It works great for the first 1st month

Cons: It stops working sometimes as in connection drops, I cant play any games with it because the connection is terrible. After a good 2-3 months I can barely load web pages and I know it is not my computer because the second i go to Ethernet connection everything runs perfect. Not worth $60.

Manufacturer Response:

We want to help figure out what is causing the disconnects-- please email us at with a copy and paste of your review. If you have any case number from support please be sure to include them as well.

Hope to hear from you soon and thank you for choosing NETGEAR.

Our apologies,

4 out of 5 eggsWorks very well with Windows 8 x64

Pros: - Fast
- Windows 8 compatible
- Easy setup

Cons: - Large: if you're using a laptop, expect to lose at least 1 adjacent port due to the adapter blocking it

Other Thoughts: This review is mostly a response to others that claim the adapter doesn't work with Windows 8. Apparently shortly after the OS was released, no drivers existed. However, Netgear published Windows 8 drivers in Q2 2013, and now lists Windows 8 support on their website.

*HOWEVER* because there's no telling which drivers the card you buy shipped with, it's a good idea to set it up as follows:
1) *Before* connecting the adapter, download and install Windows 8 driver directly from Netgear support
2) Connect the adapter when prompted. It will work perfectly from then on out

The only drawback of the adapter is that it's very much on the bigger side of things.
