4 out of 5 eggsworks fine - though perhaps too strong for small apartment

Pros: works fine, once it's configured.

Cons: difficult to securely set up & configure.
no options to reduce the xmit power.

Other Thoughts: The Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ is used by default and uses the same password for the the SSID as it does the Admin account for the router. Since I assume all SID are hack-able in some form, I chose separate passwords, which meant using manual configuration and reading the warnings regarding "all the features not working." For similar reasons, and that I use Linux, I refused to use the enclosed cdrom, and after a few minutes, I was worried for a bit I was unable to configure the router without it - but I was able to configure it how I wanted, after some practice.
Living in a small 2nd floor apartment, I can get a strong signal from across the street.
It's worked fine for me ever since - 6 months now.

3 out of 5 eggsSame range as G router

Pros: Easy setup. Worked fine.

Cons: The range was about the same as my 5 year old Belkin G wireless router.

Other Thoughts: I returned for a different router as I expect better range technology 5 years later with a N wireless router.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away from this router

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: not reliable at all

Other Thoughts: I had to replace the first unit due to it dropping the internet connection of every connected device ever 5-10 minutes. This was happening on both wired and wireless connections. The second unit would not let me log into the admin page. It would accept the default password then sit at a loading screen indefinetly. Worst linksys product I've ever had and will not be purchasing anotherone after this. for the price this should have been a way better product.

Pros: connection speed is very quick

Cons: you cant turn off SSID broadcasting! that is a deal breaker to me. I don't know if this is a new thing that linksys is doing or what but no, no no no. i cant handle this.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY, i plan on returning tomorrow, to get a different cheaper linksys router that hopefully is SSID broadcasting disable capable. if not going to Net gear

5 out of 5 eggsNo Issues

Pros: Easy setup
Solid connections
Looks nice
It's a Linksys

Cons: The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi software doesn't show my Win 8 wireless unit (as it does with all the other wireless devices I have) but it does provide a wireless connection to it, which works great.

Other Thoughts: Not sure why some seem to have problems with this unit. I bought this to replace a WRT54G setup that had been in place for a number years as I wanted more speed. Setup, which included adding 7 wireless devices, took maybe an hour and I have very little networking experience. Read the instructions and the software made it simple. The unit furthest from the router is 55' (and 3 walls) away and gets two bars sigal strenght - better than the WRT54G that needed a repeater setup to reach that far. Very pleased.

1 out of 5 eggsJOKE of a router, setup is impossible.

Pros: It does a great job at making you think you got an amazing product. The rated speeds WOULD be awesome. The touted range would be excellent and the plug for an external drive would be superior to all other routers for me...

but....

Cons: Before I start, let me say that I am not some noob. I have setup many routers for myself and my friends. I have built countless computers for myself and my friends. I currently in my own house have two kindles, two desktops, and three laptops. No issues connecting to my net gear router.

This router was impossible to get setup. These reviews about how easy it was are not true. They can't be. No router can be this difficult to setup. I let it go through its dumbed down setup and it took my password and name for the router and all that garbage and then would tell me I had a mismatch, my wireless adapter on all my computers were freaking out and could not locate this unbelievable bad router.

Windows of course would but in trying to troubleshoot and get me know where.

After about 45 mins of trying to setup this router I simply packed it up and hooked up my previous router and all is well again. Its not the speed or constant connectivity I need but hey at least it works 80% of the time during the day and not at all like this router.

Other Thoughts: This is shocking result considering the brand names attached to it.

Anyway, buy something else, believe the reviews, this router is garbage, don't bother replying cisco, I don't want to hear about how you'll replace this piece of junk, I will just get an asus or something reliable.

2 out of 5 eggsNice Features but unreliable

Pros: Management Interface is simple and effective
USB setup is easy
Signal strength is good
Speed is good

Cons: Unreliable
network breaks every now and then

Other Thoughts: This is good router with great features but its highly unreliable. The network breaks every now and then for few seconds. Resetting didn't help either.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: - Easy Setup with CD
- Slim form factor
- Vastly increased home network speeds
- Dual band and great coverage
- Web/Cloud access via internet or app (if u want)
- Feature rich and easily configured

Cons: The pending sale of the 'Linksys' division from Cisco to Belkin

Other Thoughts: I do not understand the negative reviews this product receives. I ignored them and instead relied on reviews from pcmag and the like and made the purchase. I am glad I did. I upgraded from an wrt54g to this product to unleash my completely wireless home network including 2 laptops, 1 wireless desktop, phones, blu-ray player, directv, samsung led lcd smart tv... etc. All on my wireless home network. My network speeds have greatly increased (going from a limited 54mbps router to 300/450mbps ea3500) and I NEVER experience any drops or disconnects.

You can access the router locally or create a cloud account to access it remotely. Then access it either way. You DO NOT have to create a cloud account.

This router- accessing it, its interface and features, are very different from older versions and equipment. Different is not bad. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase and my home network. The router is the center of the crossroads for your home network. Its a great product.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Setup CD required

Pros: Setup was a breeze after I found the IP address.

Cons: No instructions how to setup without CD and without creating an online account.

Other Thoughts: It took a while for me to find any help on line. You can use 192.168.1.1 to access the router. That basic info was not included with the router or printed on the bottom of the router. You have to check a box to gain internet access without having the security settings set up first. After that you will be prompted to create an online account and install the software on the CD. I checked a box to "access offline" and I was able to set up all the settings without the software and without the online account. I will report back if I have any issues.
