The DAP-1522 can also be used to create a new 802.11n wireless network using its Access Point feature. Simply connect it to an existing wired or wireless router, and you'll enjoy greater range and data speeds in seconds.

  • newegg Xtreme N Duo Technology With Xtreme N Duo wireless technology, the D-Link DAP-1522 delivers ultra-fast wireless data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps and offers the flexibility to operate on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency to avoid interference in your area.
  • newegg Connect Multiple Devices In the Wireless Bridge mode, the D-Link DAP-1522 connects up to 4 wired devices to your wireless network to lend high performance to your home entertainment system, ideal for HD video streaming, online gaming and more.
  • newegg Create a Wireless Network In the Wireless Access Point mode, the D-Link DAP-1522 creates a new wireless network by connecting to a wired or wireless router, so multiple clients can connect to the network at the same time to share resources and files.

1 out of 5 eggsworst ever

Pros: low profile.

Cons: I am an IT guy, build up my personal network by myself. Have been using D-Link products for almost 10 years. This brand used to be acceptable. Bought this product in July 2012 and 5 month later, I cannot not even watch a full 25min YouTube video through this terrible product! Because I have to reboot it twice in 25 mins!!!!! Bad bad bad product. Please stay away from it.

PS, I have my Linksys router for almost 7 years and it is still rock solid. Worst experience ever!!

Cons: documentation lacking, go to the dlink website if you need help.

Other Thoughts: Unit works fine and was easy to setup for experienced router setup tech.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all costs

Pros: None

Cons: - Outdated stock on Newegg. This is the RevA of the device, which is impossible to find updated firmware for.
- Unstable out of the box. Constantly disconnects.
- WPS not functional
- Only can see 2.4GHz networks for me.

Source: Network engineering background.

Maybe this one was a dud? But judging by others, sounds like it's just a junk product.

1 out of 5 eggsConstant Resets

Pros: If it works, it it is a fast bridge.

Cons: I have owned this for over a year as a 5 GHz wireless N bridge. For the past several months, it worked flawlessly. Recently however, it began to constantly reset. Connecting to it through a wired port and trying to configure it was a nightmare. As I would make a change, the device would reset and I would need to re-login to the device all over again. I never added any device to my network and I did not change anything. I spent a half hour on hold before I was able to get a hold of anyone on D-links tech support. Reseting the device back to the default setting only got it working for a few hours before the constant resets began again. I am going to have to chalk this up to a manufacturing defect of some kind.

I have an electrical engineering degree and I worked as a network technician through college, so I am fairly knowledgeable about these.

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg selling old stock, Disappointing.

Pros: Got here quick. Newegg didn't argue over taking back the unopened boxes.

Cons: Old stock, old hardware version, doesn't support "Guest" feature of the current hardware version for the same SKU. As a result, I'm sending it back just as quick as I got it.

Other Thoughts: I wasted time buying this from Newegg, now I have to go shopping all over again. Caveat emptor.

4 out of 5 eggsCareful Gamers

Pros: Decent Speed, works great with ASUS 66U

Cons: This is a major for me, While behind the DAP-1522, you CANNOT connect to a xbox that is behind the same DAP.

So If Im hosting a lobby in BO2, and I invite the person sitting next to me IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO JOIN.

But, if I have someone outside the house host a lobby, we can both join.

With the above stated, the same goes for two PCS. Tried to LAN minecraft behind this and it was a no go for PC #2. The instant I moved the second PC to another of these, or to a wireless USB (asus) it was fine.

Just an FYI for anyone purchasing this.

Other Thoughts: It does setup fine, play fine, and has great speed.

1 out of 5 eggsWhich Version?

Pros: Device is easy to configure. Didn't burst into flames when I plugged it in.

Cons: The device has multiple Versions and the feature you want may not be in the version you get. Moreover, the version you want isn't specified on the box, just a sticker on the device itself.

Other Thoughts: I went to D-Link's website and looked at the manual for this device BEFORE I bought it. I specifically needed an AP that had a guest mode so I could have people get to the internet but not my network. The manual on D-Link's site for the DAP-1522 states very clearly that this device HAS a guest mode. But when I got the device, opened it, connected it, configured it and then went to the Advanced settings to set up the guest mode... there was no guest mode. That feature is apparently only available in the Hardware Version B, not version A which I got. I called D-link's support to get this information. I don't remember being asked when I ordered from Newegg which version I wanted. Nor do I imagine they know which versions they have in the box without opening them. Is it Newegg's fault for sending me the ver A? I don't think so. Is it D-Link's fault for making a major change in the device and keeping the exact same part number? Absolutely! How about calling it DAP-1522B or something so people know there is a difference.
Now, they are telling me I can send it back to them and they'll gladly send me a refurbished ver B back. Um, no? Don't want a refurb one. Don't want to have to pay shipping back to you either. I'll just stop buying D-Link products and hurt you the best way I know how.

1 out of 5 eggsWarning - Old Stock

Pros: With B1 HW Revision, works great! No complaints.

Cons: HW Rev. A1 does not support Guest Account

Other Thoughts: Ordered several of these back around 3/12, all came with HW rev B1. Just ordered another to add to the network on 10-10-12 and recieved HW rev A1. Checked and it has latest Fw which came out 04/11 , v1.40 and this HW ver does not support the Guest Account feature, even though NE shows it on the list of features on their site. Shame on NE for not rotating stock and sending out New Old Stock.

Contacted D-Link to confirm, since I just received it have to deal with NE for a switch. Will report back how that goes, I have to have this for a remote install on Tuesday, today is Sat. and NE CS is closed. Hopefully we can get them to advance replace ship next day at their expense, along with paying for return shipping.

I EGGspect better from NE!

4 out of 5 eggsWorking as designed

Pros: easy to setup, price (if you buy with the discount)

Cons: none yet, although my experience with DLink after the DGL 4300 has been less than impressive

Other Thoughts: wire connected this as an AP to a DIR 655. After a couple of minutes of faffing about with IP address got it working, plugged 3 devices into wired ports and using it as switch. Tablets, phones etc connect to WiFi.
