The router's MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology also makes it a natural choice for multimedia fanatics, minimizing errors and optimizing data speed through the use of multiple antennas for both sending and receiving.

Need to give voice, gaming, or media streaming priority? The DIR-825 has integrated Intelligent QoS (quality of service) technology to do just that. The router analyzes wired and wireless traffic and separates it into multiple data streams. These streams are prioritized by sensitivity to delay, so applications like VoIP (voice over Internet protocol), video and music streaming and online gaming are given priority over Web browsing.

  • newegg Xtreme N Dual Band Technology With Xtreme N Dual Band wireless technology, the D-Link DIR-825 delivers ultra-fast wireless data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps and offers the ability to operate on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time for twice the bandwidth.
  • newegg Gigabit Network Connection The D-Link DIR-825 features 1 Gigabit WAN port and 4 Gigabit LAN ports that provide up to 10x faster speeds than most 100M network connections for the ultimate performance when used as a wired router.
  • newegg High-level Security The D-Link DIR-825 supports the latest wireless networking security standards including WPA and WPA2 and features a built-in firewall to prevent potential attacks from the Internet.
  • newegg HD Fuel Priority Technology The D-Link DIR-825 features HD Fuel Priority Technology to boost network efficiency and performance for uninterrupted online gaming and HD video streaming.
  • newegg SharePort Technology SharePort technology turns the local USB port located on the D-Link DIR-825 into a fast and responsive virtual network port, so you can easily share USB devices such as printers, multi-function printers and storage devices on your network.
  • newegg Green Ethernet Technology With Green Ethernet technology, the D-Link DIR-825 automatically adjusts power usage according to link status and cable length, greatly reducing power consumption and operational costs while generates less heat for reliable operation.

2 out of 5 eggsIt works....barely

Pros: Works most of the time. Dual-bands work simultaneously without issue.

Cons: 1. D-Link claims that the USB port on this router works with USB hubs, but I went 0/3 trying to connect a USB hub to it. All USB hubs were different makes & models (some powered, some not). Nothing would work and D-Link customer service was almost useless.

2. The SharePort software is touchy (auto-connect and disconnect don't always work)

3. A number of times this month, the router has had problems connecting to the internet even though there are no problems with my cable modem. Each time it only lasted a few minutes, but was frustrating nonetheless.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't buy it if I had a second chance.

4 out of 5 eggsGood if you update firmware

Pros: Fast and solid if the right firmware is on it - don't go with the stock firmware get the DDWRT latest version and you can't go wrong.

Cons: Dual band 5 gb seems to have issues broadcasting the signal over distances.

Other Thoughts: If you are using even the latest d-link firmware forget it - go with the latest DDWRT one - mine has been rock solid since then. 5ghz has been a little ify and I haven't had much success with that so far - but that could ne my wireless nic or just general home environment issues. Either way the 2.4ghz has been outstanding since the new DDWRT firmware was put on the unit - haven't had a dropped connection despite 9 devices continuously connected in weeks.

2 out of 5 eggsKeep Looking!

Pros: Looks nice and the price was ok. Got it on sale. Somewhat easy to install if you're a noob. The cd is good for beginners.

Cons: Horrible signal coverage. Constant signal loss and droppage.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my trusty old Linksys WTR54 thinking it was time for an upgrade to wireless n with dual band. Boy was I wrong. The signal coverage in my modest little home was laughable. When it did work it kept dropping off after a short while. This ain't my first wireless rodeo either. Steer clear, especially if this is your first wireless experience. My WTR54 was better.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router, for a Steal $45

Pros: Picked up 2 of these last week when NewEgg has em for $45 and what a great decision. Previously i had a DLink 4300 which served me well for 4+ years but it was starting to show its age and I wanted to jump to Dual Band Technology.

I recieved a Revision C1 with the 3.00 Firmware (All up to date). Relocated it to the middle of the house ran my wires and fired it up.

The new inteface "could" be confusing to some but I run a large datacenter and prefer to have more options at hand. Within 5 Minutes I had my DHCP Reservations Set, My 2.4 b/g WPA and 5ghz N WPA set up. Also port forwarding for my XBOX 360 was a breeze.

I immediately noticed my wireless music streaming from my Evo 3D to Onkyo recieve was so much more responsive. Wireless N on my laptop was blazing fast (once I updated my intel drivers). And file transfters from system to system were much much faster.

Cons: None that I can see, I have seen bad reviews of this product but it looks to be centered around much older revisions.

C1 with 3.00 Firmware is flawless thus far.

Other Thoughts: I didn't use the guided set up but I'm sure it would help for those less tech savy.

For me, the manul configs were awesome and very easy to use. The versatility of this device is fantastic.

4 out of 5 eggsD-Link DIR-825

Pros: I've found that this router works really well in a home environment. It has a really good broadcast range. I upgraded from a linksys WRT54GL and the difference in the range is what I love about this router. The router is upstairs and I get great signal downstairs whereas before I couldn't use anything downstairs. Also the 5Ghz connection is great. I use this for my iPad and other media and the speeds are phenomenal.

Cons: I have a hard time saying anything bad about this router. The only con I can think of would be the difficulty setting up the router at first. The interface wasn't really friendly. But once I got it up and running, there are no complaints.

Other Thoughts: If you're hesitant to buy this router because of the cons listed above. I would get a friend to help you set it up. Because it really is a good router, hence the 4/5 eggs.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the Price

Pros: Nice Looking, works great for wired devices easy setup

Cons: doesnt stay connected to wireless devices my PS3 wont even reconize it

Other Thoughts: I bought this for wireless streaming video to my xbox 360 and PS3 it failed in every respect. It does look really nice I really wanted this to work i have a D-link Gamerlounge and it has sporadic dropped signals I think im going to go back to netgear NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAS sounds like it might work better

5 out of 5 eggsSplendid Router

Pros: Great reliability and performance. Using both bands 2.4 & 5 GHz the 2.4 for regular laptops, etc and the 5GHz and the 4 1-GHz ports switch for multimedia without any anomalies to report. Using CyberPower UPS for the network switches, router, and a SpeedStream 5100 DSL modem.

Cons: None really (the blue LEDs are a bit bright but some opaque tape solved that).

Other Thoughts: Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.02NA In use since Aug, 2009. Bought another for backup at a great price with reliable on time delivery from NewEgg.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware!

Pros: When it worked, it was very fast.

Cons: Wired internet speeds kept dropping down to nothing. Did a settings reset and it worked okay for a week, then started doing it again. It just can't seem to keep consistent internet speeds going, switched back to my old D-Link gigabyte router and have had no problems.

Other Thoughts: I read the reviews after already ordering this, seems its a common issue to have the wired ports die on you. Too bad, the wireless speed was very good, but I need both!

1 out of 5 eggsRead This First ! DOA & Bad tech support

Pros: Waiting for Tech support for 3 hours to answer will keep your ear warm and temper raging. They will also have the cuourtesy to hang up on you.

Cons: Both 2.5gig and the 5gig wireless status led steady blink once a second indicating wireless radio not ready.Page 6 of the user manual states,a solid light indicates that the 2.4GHz wireless segment is ready. This LED blinks during wireless data
transmission They never go steady then flash to indicate data traffic. I called d-link tech support the technician tried to play me as the led do not indicate data but beacon traffic. When I asked for a manager she asked for the hardware version which is c1. She said that hardware does not exist that newegg sold me a fake unit and they will not support it. I am submiting an RMA
Case number c6081007

Other Thoughts: I think it is terrible to not support a product. The first time on hold for tech support was an hour only to get shulf off by saying not my department when I know I was in the correct one. Then put me back to the bottom of the queue. I waited another hour to get to someone else then they hung up on me.
When finally I got a hold of a technician I could barely understand the Indian accent. Another hour on the phone back and forth about the operation of the led’s for the 2.5 and the 5gig. He tried to say that the led’s are supposed to blink at a steady pace because the router is sending out beacon traffic. This rages me. It is an outright LIE! Beacons are management traffic! The led’s are supposed to flash to data traffic. When I asked for a manager we verified the hardware and firmware version. The manager stated “Hardware version C1 does not exist therefore we will not give any further tech support and will not honor any warranty” Thanks D-Link! You sure take great care of your customers.
