4 out of 5 eggstiny

Pros: so small! super fast. cool silent operation. didnt even get hot when transferring entire 200 GB music collection to backup NAS. lights change color to show whether you are getting gigabit or 10/100 speeds. super small!

Cons: uh.. no issues so far. see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: small... light weight so it gets jerked around by cables that are connected to it if you are just setting it on a desktop/table. has mounting options on bottom with screw slots so securing it to something is a simple enough fix. also velcro works well too.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Works great, though it gave me a scare at first: It would not power up. After trying a couple different ac outlets, I finally got lights! Since this sat outside at cold temperature for a couple of hours, I suspect condensation detection. Phew!

I have, so far, only one desktop computer and a few other light-use devices hooked to this TEG-S5g. So I can't say how fast it is with internal machine-to-machine data trransfers. It's daisy chained off another gigibit switch which has my other computers hooked to it. I can confirm good, consistent speeds transferring data to/from those machines. So, this is doing it's job well, so far!

It does have a light warmth to it, most noticeable on the bottom of the unit. Nothing I wouldn't expect, though.

Cons: No cons, so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a 10/100 switch leading to a different room from where most of my computers are. Because I now have direct gigabit to that room, I was able to remove about 50 feet of network cable runs. Woohoo!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Simple PnP my son had it working in minutes and I can now access the Internet from any device PC, PS3, or Smart TV in my "den". Since the wireless reception was poor at that end of the house this was a much cheaper way to extend the connection.

Shipping was fast.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsI'd rather switch than fight

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do for cheap. RFI quiet. A win win for me.

Cons: Power connector is on the side. Power cord is a bit short.

Other Thoughts: Plugged it into a D-Link DIR-868L router to add a couple of extra gigabit ports to our home network. Replaced an old Linksys EZXS55W 10/100 switch.

The power cord from the supplied wall wart is about 3 feet shorter than the one on the old Linksys requiring some manipulation of the power strip. The power input jack is on the side of the TRENDnet, as opposed to being on the rear. Not sure why they went that route.

I have a lot of sensitive radio equipment in the same room where the network is located. The old Linksys router and switch I replaced produced a lot of spurious emissions across the HF spectrum. The TRENDnet switch is extremely quiet in comparison. I had noise issues with both the old router and switch, which I took great pains to attempt to eliminate, but was never entirely successful. Aside from a couple of well spaced birdies, the noise is gone. YAY!

5 out of 5 eggsBought 3

Pros: Cheap
Quick
Green

Cons: No wall mounting screws

Other Thoughts: I install the switch vertically. Would have liked to receive hardware for that. Otherwise, these things are perfect - bought 3 a while ago, and just got around to installing and expaning my home network. All work just fine.
