The compact form factor saves space around crowded electrical outlets. This adapter automatically connects to other TRENDnet Powerline AV adapters with no installation required —TRENDnet recommends pressing the "Sync" button to automatically change default encryption keys.

Use up to four adapters to network devices in different rooms without running new cabling. Power Save mode reduces power consumption by up to 70%. Quality of Service technology prioritizes video, audio, and online gaming. LED displays convey device status for easy troubleshooting. Advanced 128-bit AES encryption secures your network. This adapter is ideal for use in buildings that interfere with wireless networking signals.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks better than a Linksys PLEK500

Pros: 100% consistent connection. I have this between my modem and my router and get no bandwidth loss 35Mb down and 11Mb up. When I tried a Linksys PLEK500 in the same configuration (between my modem and router) The Linksys bottle-necked my connection to ~20Mb down and 11Mb up. Highly recommend this Adapter. Make sure you get the kit (TPL-308E2K) or 2 of these (TPL-308E). My condo was built in 1968, I live in Chicago. Just including that as a reference for electrical lines.

Cons: Does not work well on the same circuit with my Linksys PLEK500. When I plug in the Linksys my speed gets even more capped at around 8Mb so I can't use them together. This is one of the situations where the less expensive product outperforms .

1 out of 5 eggsVery unreliable product

Pros: First, this is one unit only. A second unit must be purchased to male the pair. Once you get two units, then to pair them is very fast. All green lights... then the trouble starts, RED, Orange lights etc. Summary, does not work in a reliable way.

Cons: Unreliable product.

Other Thoughts: Never will use this brand again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Rob,

I apologize for your overall frustration for this powerline not working as promised. If possible, please reset both adapters via the reset button and see if the LED lights go off and back on. Also, if applicable, please update to the latest firmware while using this link for your reference : . If these don't help then you can contact me directly at with "Newegg TPL-308E Review" in the subject line and I will be able to assist you immediately.

2 out of 5 eggsLasts an hour maybe

Pros: Nice size.

Cons: Only one per box. It worked for a little while and then the blinking of the remote light went away and it became unresponsive. This happened with both units that I bought. Don't know if it has to do with using Cisco VPN AnyConnect. Don't have a Windows PC to run the utility software.

4 out of 5 eggsNo wireless? No problem!

Pros: Uses existing power lines to transmit data! 20' Ethernet cables not required!

Cons: Can take awhile to communicate with main adapter.

Other Thoughts: This is a very good alternative to people who do not wish to setup a wireless network. Much more secure! Or for people who don't want to run lengthy cables around the house!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great for 10/100 Mbps

Pros: Low-cost per unit
Easy configuration

Cons: Really tiny print on the units - hard for old eyes to see without a magnifying glass.

Other Thoughts: According to the datasheet on the included CD, you can have a maximum of 4 units per network, with 4 overlapping networks. For my home, I find that they work great. I even hung a workgroup switch on the unit I placed by my TV/DVR/BD Player so that all of those could be networked, and so far, they work great. I'm using one right now to write this review.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate: Flaky croissant

Pros: Compact, good aesthetics, patch cable included, a little bit cheaper than making a wifi bridge, sympathetic support from TRENDnet

Cons: Not clearly labeled that the product will FAIL if plugged in to an outlet strip. Must be plugged directly into the wall outlet.

Other Thoughts: My original review "Flaky croissant" was one egg because the product was very flaky when plugged into an outlet strip. Once I plugged the adapter directly into the wall outlet it has been fast and reliable. I could not figure out how to delete or amend my earlier Newegg review. I received a helpful and sympathetic reply from TRENDnet support about a week after posting my review.

3 out of 5 eggsCaution

Pros: -Nice packaging

Cons: -Single adapter.

Other Thoughts: While it is stated, I do not feel like it is stated clearly enough that this is a single adapter. Plus, it is cheaper to buy a different set of two in some cases. The RMA is actually more expensive to return than I would like, so I actually end up only getting a little of my money back. While I am sure that this is a great product, I cannot tell because I only have one.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear TRENDnet Customer,
