1 out of 5 eggsNot enough range

Pros: Ease of installation - Easy for a novice to install.

Cons: Poor range - the wireless router is 60ft away from my pc. The signal strengh is 16%. I couldn't get it to connect at all.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Richard,

Channel selection, placement and settings can impact the range that you are going to be able to achieve. Try different channels to see if that helps. Minimize the amount of obstructions between the router and the adapter. Mount your router as high as you can to see if that helps too. To ensure you are using 802.11n specs make sure you are using WPA2 AES encryption and do not disable your SSID broadcast. Wireless is also based on two way communication. If your router is having issues broadcasting to the location of the adapter that could be an issue as well. There are many ways to expand your wireless coverage. You could use Powerline networking, adding additional access points or using an access points with a repeater mode.

Adrian

3 out of 5 eggsInstalled and active but no networks detected

Pros: It does have a small form factor, and the antennas LOOK like they would work nicely, even though they don't. The install was easy enough.

Cons: Simply cannot detect any networks. Period. There are fifteen wireless signals in my list on both the other computers in this same room, yet the card which is installed and claims to be working perfectly can't see a single one. My suspicion is the antennas, either the connection with them or their functionality.

Other Thoughts: Note of interest: I am giving this 3 eggs because there is a chance that this is due to my system configuration. The windows version I am running was already installed on my Asus laptop, and miraculously booted when I put it in my new desktop. That means it still has a lot of hardware configs and drivers from the previous machine, and even though I went through and uninstalled all that I could find and installed all the drivers for my new hardware, there's still a chance it's a driver issue. I will update once I do a fresh install of windows.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Windows Server 2012 R2!

Pros: At first I didn't realize that the Windows feature named "Wireless LAN Service" must be installed for this to work on Windows Server 2012 R2. Having installed that feature, it works perfectly!

Cons: Bracket doesn't fit my Wesena case, but then again, what does! :)

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work at all in Windows Server 2012 R2

Pros: Small and easy to install.

Cons: Doesn't work at all in Windows Server 2012 R2. Zip, zilch, nada.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Pikachu,

Unfortunately the adapter is not compatible with any server operating system. All documentation for the product should list the following compatible operating systems. Windows 8.1 (32/64-bit), Windows 8 (32/64-bit), 7 (32/64-bit), Vista (32-bit), XP (32/64-bit). If you found documentation that states that it was compatible with Windows Server 2012 we apologize and will ensure this is corrected. If you could email adrian@trendnet.com with this information we will be more than happy to have it corrected.

1 out of 5 eggsnot long term reliable

Pros: worked great when I first got it.

Cons: died, stopped working after 9 months, shows 0 bars signal out of 5 bars and shows no SSID's detected, when many SSID's exists in a detectable range

Other Thoughts: Not worth the time , trouble and expense of getting a RMA from TRENDnet and paying shipping there and back, even though the unit is under warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsWorks in Linux

Pros: Detected during Ubuntu 14.04 Install.
Small.
Good Signal from other side of house.
Fairly inexpensive.

Cons: No Linux management software.

Other Thoughts: I was able to install this in my PC and install Ubuntu easily. It detected and was configurable immediately which allowed me to install updates during install. Only thing I don't like is that without installing 3rd party software I have no access to advanced features like switching 2.4 to 5 Ghz.

5 out of 5 eggsVery impressed

Pros: It's very small. Dual band is nice. What I'm most impressed with is speed. Now, my computer is very close to my router, but I'm impressed with the speed. I've been connected to my router with an ethernet cable for a week or so now because I removed my last wireless card. Upon installing this card, I played around with speedtest.net's benchmarks to see if there is a difference between before and after: the only difference is in my ping. 1ms more. Everything else is exactly the same. Now, I know this is probably an ineffective way to test it, but it makes me happy. Online gaming feels exactly the same to me as when it was connected directly to the router.

Cons: Can't think of any. I suppose wireless ac would be even nicer for future proofing, but unless I get Google Fiber I won't be even getting close to the 300mb/s limit. Either way, if I REALLY wanted that I'd have to pay more - which I don't care for.

Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the price. This is a solid card, very effective.

Using Win7 64-bit.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine

Pros: Connects me to the internet when I don't want to use wired.

Cons: Speed isn't as high as Ethernet, but that's to be expected.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I needed

Pros: Works great, good speed, good range- I get 3-4 bars consistently through 3 walls about 25 ft away

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you just need basic wireless N connectivity in your house, this is perfect. Nothing fancy, but I didn't need fancy.

4 out of 5 eggsA Little Play but Works Well

Pros: Works well and the drivers and utility, that are included in the box on a disc, are pleasant to look at and work with.
Dual band for fast streaming if you have a dual band router.

Cons: On my motherboard (Asus H97 Plus) and case (Corsair Vengeance C70) the card has a good bit of a wiggle trying to seat it in the mobo and IO shield but that's only a nit-pick.
