5 out of 5 eggsRegarding Other reviewers

Pros: Amazing Wireless Router. Best I have ever had wireless.

Cons: Getting to be a pain for Ethernet cable connection. Trying to see if there is an upgrade in firmware that can help the problem. Somehow if the Ethernet cable has to much running on it the router will not only cut the internet off, but will cut it off from our provider as well, (verified by charter themselves) I have to reset the modem as well as the router to get the internet back up, but due to extensive testing it is not the modem doing this but it is the router, some reason the Ethernet connections cannot handle a high load. I knew it was a non-gigabit connection but didn't know it would be like this? Contacting the CS and finding if there any firmware and I will see from there.

Other Thoughts: Regarding the other comment's that are saying about the whole "I have to log in every time I connect this defective piece of hardware. Oh I am going to RMA it. There is nothing wrong with it, just your inability to work it. If you would have simply gone to the website.

http://www.asante.com/support_Hotspot_Smarthub.asp

Right there. That is exactly what your problem was. Only problem with the router is its non gigabit Ethernet connection. Other then that this router out preforms almost all other routers I have had wireless and for 1/4th the price.

I have 30mb internet speed. I get 20-30mbs speed wireless 40 ft from the router, through walls, kitchens and all sorts. Great wireless router, but creates a problem when plugging in a permanent Ethernet cord.

4 out of 5 eggsMy experience

Pros: This is a nice router, never have had a problem with it, when I first got it I had that "couldnt connect to roku and PS3 thing" contacted customer service and they told me within seconds what to turn off. It was a security feature bonus and you could program it to allow IP address's to bypass the security or just turn it off. I just wanted a PW anyway so I just turned it off. Wonderful router faster at long ranges across our 80ft house then any other router I have had. I get 22mbs-27mbs at the farther point (40~+) with our 30mb internet connect. Do the research this Router is a great router and has compared to netgear and other crud with there foreign CS that can barely speak with you. The last two people could have simply called customer service and had that problem fixed in literally 5 seconds. It is a great router and was surprised after buying it in Jan it doesn't have more reviews.

Cons: I have though started having a slight problem with plugging in my new computer. Don't know who to blame but when I am downloading one of my games and am plugged in directly to internet (ethernet cable) it will shut the internet completely down. Wireless and all. So i say this has to either be the modem locking up or the router. Modem will still say it has internet but I cant get internet by plugging into the modem. Restarting everything gets my internet back but its ONLY when I am downloading a game off the internet. Sigh Other then that the Asante is the best deal I have gotten.

Other Thoughts: Once i figure out what is causing me to loose the internet I will post back, it may indeed be the router and its not handling the load of the download, not sure, but it is getting very annoying.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to set up

Cons: Won't communicate with several of my devices.

Other Thoughts: The box is very easy to setup. Cannot get it to connect wirelessly to my PS3 and my first gen and second gen Roku boxes. Entered the mac address from the Rokus in the setup screen and it took it but it would hang during buffering. Only work with my Iphone 4 and Mac book. Signal is not as strong as I though it would be. It display good instead of exellent on the the Roku box (20 feet away).
RMA back tomorrow.

Pros: Strong signal throughout office area. Easy to set up.

Cons: Cannot set up unsegure network. Smart Hub requires you log in even if you set wireless to unsecure.
