The GS2200-24P delivers 24 port 100/1000Base-T PoE with 4 GbE dual-personalities.

The GS2200-24P provides high-performance and secure 100/1000 connectivity, access resiliency and security, as well as Traffic Management and QoS functionalities. Feature-rich and easy-to-use, the GS2200-24P is specially designed for branch offices or SME users.

  • newegg High Performance Switch Architecture for SME The ZyXEL GS2200-24P incorporates a high-performance switching architecture that provides 56 Gbps non-blocking switch fabric, 41.7 million packets per-second forwarding rate and wire-speed performance to connect high performance desktop devices with resources at the heart of the network. For branch offices and SME users, the GS2200-24P enables the delivery of converged applications and adapts to changing business needs with flexible configurations. In addition, the GS2200-24P is optimized for high-density Gigabit Ethernet deployments and is suitable for both the core and the edge of the network.
  • newegg Secure Enhanced Management Functionality The GS2200-24P is easy to use and manage the applications that are needed to support the business and increase productivity. ZyXEL iStacking clustering management technology can manage devices across different floors and routing domains to locate other iStacking-capable switches in the same management cluster. This allows administrators to manage 24 switches with one single IP address. This greatly reduces operating costs and offers more flexible maintenance of ZyXEL Switches. IT staff can opt for the Web or command line interface to suit their needs, and even encrypt their instructions with SSHv1/v2 and SSL. With these sophisticated functionalities, the IT staff is empowered to build a highly secure and efficient corporate network with minimum effort.
  • newegg Future Proof Networking with Minimum Disruption The GS2200-24P provides rich features including VLANs, CoS/QoS, Port Trunking, Rapid Spanning Tree, Security (Port Security and 802.1x authentication) and network management to meet evolving SME requirements. Meanwhile, it delivers the most cost-effective Gigabit Ethernet solution to empower Gigabit converged networking for branch offices and SME users.
  • newegg Intelligent PoE for Cost Saving ZyXEL's Intelligent PoE features provide two power supply modes. Classification mode: the switch reserves the maximum power (W) to each powered device (PD) according to the priority levels. Consumption mode: the switch manages the entire power supply, so each connected PD gets the actual power it needs. In the Consumption Mode, ZyXEL's Intelligent PoE will reserve the required power automatically, and you can set power feeding priorities on different ports to get the best use of power resource. This capability can increase the number of devices connected and deliver a better ROI for the business. The GS2200-24P provides a total power budget of up to 220 W as default. With the PPS250 external PoE power supply, the GS2200-24P can provide 15.4 W per port to 24 PoE ports simultaneously.

5 out of 5 eggsNice enterprise switch.

Pros: This 2400-24 is an enterprise-grade layer 2 switch with cisco style cli along with a web interface. It has the cisco-style feature of a running config and two saved configs. This is likely why one reviewer lost his settings. If you aren't familiar with cisco running-config behavior then you might forget to save the running config and lose the settings on reset.

Excellent warranty and I've found Zyxel support to be quick and accurate.

Cons: Not a cisco so the average tech won't be familiar with it. 5x8 support. You will need to keep a spare - no 4 hour replacement.

Other Thoughts: Personally, I love these switches. You just need to keep spares - which is no problem since these are 1/4 the price of a cisco.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than most at this price

Pros: Full command line interface available via serial port, telnet, SSH.
Can move the switch management interfaces to any VLAN
VLANs, trunks, QOS, multiple spanning tree protocols fully configurable.
full command-line reference available as PDF on vendor's site
28 ports, SFP capable

Cons: Web interface and its help screens cryptic
Provided manual not detailed
Like most switch vendors, you have to figure out what terms Zyxel uses to describe standard features.
Some configuration options require command line

Other Thoughts: I have three of these, with two edge switches each connected over multiple links to the central switch with my servers. There are multiple VLANs and everything works as expected.
Most switches in this price class are exclusively web-configured. Once I configured one with the command line, it became clearer what some of the items in the web interface actually were. I was able to configure the remaining switches mostly with the web interface, but still needed to fine-tune with the CLI. I still don't think that the web interface can actually configure everything these switches are capable of.
Considered deducting an egg for the cryptic web interface and documentation, but didn't since these switches are such a good value at this price.

1 out of 5 eggsYIKES - NOT SO SMART!

Pros: Fatally flawed IMO

Cons: De-powered the unit and moved it into my system - LOST ALL IT'S SETTINGS!

Reset itself to it's default IP and knocked one of my servers off the network -- awful hassle ensued.

*You've got to be kidding me*, even a $29 cheapy router retains it's programming when de-powered.

Other Thoughts: So sorry I bought this. Out of return window. LAST time I purchase anything based on only two reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: Lots of features. At the $200 sale price, outstanding bang for the buck.
Includes rack ears, which cleverly also work as a wall-mount bracket.
Physically solid.
Quiet (no fans).

Cons: The manual is complete, and in real English (for the most part), but is overly verbose, and not particularly clear on the details of certain features. Not a big deal.
(There's a zip-file of quite clear application notes which you can download from the manufacturers web site. They should have included them on the CD as well.)

Other Thoughts: I've had this installed for a week. No problems at all.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very good bang for the buck. Switch has been running smoothly ever since setup with sustained gigabit traffic on several ports. Has more bells and whistles then anything else in this price range, even some L3 features. Also, the sfp ports are not shared/switched with copper ports, other mfgs would call this a 32 port switch.

Cons: The manual is written towards a non network professional audience, though it is very detailed. Even though I am not a network professional, I feel that it insults my super network skillz , and I have an ego.

Other Thoughts: Despite missing from the newegg product pictures, rack mount brackets are included. This was a major concern for me when ordering.
