5 out of 5 eggsNever had a problem with these

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: The set up is easy, even for the novice. If you are an IT Pro you will find it has a lot of features that you will use. The range of the wireless is very adequate for most home users.

Cons: It's not perfect, if you are looking for a high end router then you are looking at the wrong one. Anyone that has written a bad review of this item has expectations that are unreasonable.

Other Thoughts: We use all TP-Link products and have rarely had any problems with them. You can't beat the price and they are as good or better than the competitors that charge 40% more.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: Solid build, performance, and stability. Can't complain about it one bit. And as far as I can tell, this thing has MONSTER range. My smartphone was still talking to this thing out in my apartment complex's management office, which is quite a ways from my flat! I also prefer the gateway interface much better than other routers I have used in the past (Linksys, Netgear).

Cons: Haven't found any so far

Other Thoughts: My first TP-LINK product, and I must say it is definitely a good pickup if you are looking for a budget solution. That said, I have had this thing for 6 months and you never know how long routers will last these days.

I may throw some third party firmware up at some point as the need arises, but as of yet the stock firmware is humming along just fine.

3 out of 5 eggs4.5 years later, dead

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: Three ants. Nice HTML UI. Printer port worked great once firmware was upgraded.

Cons: You gotta start the printer program on any given PC to print. Died after 4.5 years. Couldn't get PC Print program to work on one laptop.

Other Thoughts: Mine does not look like this, but it has the same model number (TL-WR1043ND). Mine was the first iteration. Been through four freaken routers in 6 years (different brands), what is the deal with these things?

5 out of 5 eggsSolid router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: Overall this has been a solid router for the last 4+ years for me. I ran stock firmware for a while, but wanted more out of it so I flashed DD-WRT. I use mine behind my FIOS router for better wired and wireless speed and wireless coverage. I've bought 3 more for other family members and haven't had any issues.

Cons: With one of the routers I bought, installing DD-WRT gave me some issues (nearly bricked it). Other than that no issues for me.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent ddwrt / openwrt support

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: Perfect support under stable versions ddwrt and openwrt. under both, i've gone as long as three months without restarting, and even then it was probably my fault.

Cons: transmit power maxes out at 26dbm, but probably par for the course with SOHO devices. nothing that can't be overcome with high gain antennas

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: My Verizon FIOS router had pretty terrible wireless signal, and my ailing netgear router with it's broken off and dangling wifi antenna was struggling to keep up with all my devices (not to mention its ethernet ports were only 100mbps).

I bought this to replace the netgear. I actually don't remember too much about setting it up - which is a good thing. That means there were no headaches or issues encountered and it was easy. I typically remember any issues as they result in me cursing loudly and developing a resentment for the device.

It was worked great and is strong enough to send a signal through a wall to another room in my apartment. I have over 12 devices hooked on that network and never run into problems streaming HD video or Netflix.

As far as ethernet performance goes it can easily peg my NICs while transferring data over the network, so dataflow is working fine across the router.

Cons: It wasn't free?

4 out of 5 eggsGreat router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: Easy to set-up, stable with great range.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Never ever buying anything from BidDeal again.
Their lack of communications and poor shipping package ( a plastic bag with a sticker on it ) are the only reasons I didnt give this 5 stars.

5 out of 5 eggsIntensive usage

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: I have 1 V2 and 52 V1 of these routers. 26 of them used in WDS mode and 26 of them in regular router mode. In over 2 years of use, I have had 1 dead on arrival and had 1 go bad. The ones in WDS mode get their wireless signal from an access point through a ciment ceiling and at least 1 ciment wall.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: For internet and VOIP, these routers are fine. I would consider something else if they are to be used mainly to transfer big files

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router for the Price

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: Very easy set up even if you don't have a CD rom drive. Strong, Consistent wireless connections. USB Port good for network hard drive storage.

Cons: Wireless data transfer speeds to USB port for network storage are just ok....not superfast. A better data meter for monthly usage amounts would have been useful.

Other Thoughts: Got this to replace an aging Netgear N600 router (WNDR3400) that started malfunctioning after 4 years (i.e. dropped connections, USB port for network storage stopped working and cause router to crash and reset). This TP Link replacement router (even though it sn't dual band) does not really perform slower and costs half as much. I liked this one so much I got another one for my BF's place. Great value and I highly recommend it.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't do it

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button

Pros: The computer connected will work fine.

Cons: Not working now after a few weeks. It worked great for about 2 weeks at the most. Now nothing will connect other than my direct computer through an actual cord. My phone is okay at times but my wifes computer and our dvd's will not work. Tried everything. Don't buy

Other Thoughts: It seemed like a good unit at the time. I wish I never bought it.
