1 out of 5 eggsConstant Disconnects

Pros: It works when not disconnected

Cons: I've had instances where 5-6 times/day it would randomly disconnect and sit there "connecting". Only way to remedy is to reboot the router (which is frustrating). Upgraded the firmware thinking that it would solve the issue but unfortunately it still disconnects. Connecting the USB modem directly to the PC is the only way I can surf the net without interruptions. Wish I could return it but I'm pass the 30 day grace period.

Other Thoughts: I'm using a Huawei E303 USB modem with this router here in Afghanistan with Etisalat as my ISP.

1 out of 5 eggsMaybe I got a dud

Pros: Easy to setup.

Cons: 3G/4G worked flawlessly for about 2 hours and then the USB port died. Router wouldn't talk to or recognize 3G/4G USB modem.
Currently waiting for my replacement. Hopefully it will last longer.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent router if you are looking to take your WiFi with you

Pros: * WiFi wherever you go (as long as there is 3G coverage from your service provider)
* Optional wired connections (to connect your vonage/ObiHai/Other VOIP units)
* Support for more devices is being added via firmware updates and downloadable bin files on TP Link website.

Cons: * Some 3G USB sticks are still not compatible... so make sure that your service provider uses a compatible device.

Other Thoughts: With a compatible 3G USB stick, this thing works as expected. Speed of your net connection is obviously dependent on the 3G connection (if that is what you are using this with).

Added to that, if you have some sort of prepaid 3G card that charges you based on your usage, you could have that as a backup to your regular WAN connection (by setting WAN as the primary connection and 3G as the backup). Redundant internet connectivity at reasonable cost.

PS: I used this in India with Airtel 3G USB stick (Huawei brand). Never used this in US but website has a bunch of USB devices used in US that are compatible (either as part of the firmware or as additional bin files you could load during setup).

1 out of 5 eggsVery Frustrating.

Pros: When first connected it worked as advertised. Secure and fast. Easy to connect with multiple devices. We were very happy, initially.

Cons: After about 45 days it would lose connection to the internet. We were constantly re-setting the router. We finally took it off and put our old D-Link router back on. It's a bit of a dinosaur, but at least it's dependable and maintains connection. In the 3 years we've owned that router, we never once had to re-set it to reconnect. The modem, yes, the old router, no. The hassle to go through with securing an exchange and/or refund is always frustrating and time consuming. I'm tempted to just eat the $55 and go purchase a different one, given all the steps/time it will take to process a return/exchange.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully we will be able to return it and exchange. I'm willing to give them another shot at customer satisfaction. I am concerned about the return, however, as I didn't keep "all the packaging materials". I am afraid I'll have to purchase another one and the "policy" won't allow an exchange given the lack of packaging materials I retained. In that case you can probably guess which brand of router I will avoid.

1 out of 5 eggsUgh

Pros: Worked great when it actually worked.

Cons: Quit after 2 weeks.

Other Thoughts: After it took 20-30 minutes to FIND my 3G modem, it worked great...up to 2 weeks. Then the modem stopped responding and died out. Piece of junk, stay away from it.
