Pros: Gigabit LAN, worked well at outset

Cons: wireless internet connection became more and more intermittent, wouldn' connect some devices others no problem. My laptop would frequently get a limited connection. It would be connected to my network but not the internet. Firmware is upgraded to latest version. I upgraded after the problems started.

Other Thoughts: I've had good luck with TP-link in the past, This product is a disapointment.

Pros: took out of box put in CD hooked up and setup was simple follow the leader and your done a quick reset of modem and everything happy I prefer the smaller profile compared to the old Linksys router I had and being a newer design should use much less energy. Speed no a difference between the old G router for transfers on the internet but in home they increased and ping to another location did increase form 20 for 100 miles to 15 for same location and from 45 to 35 for a 1000 miles distant server and speeds at 1000 miles more consistent than before the test gauge goes to average speed quickly and stays there with old router would gradual ramp up speed very happy with purchase. For someone that needs plug and play this is a good option to go with

Cons: I just wish they provided more options on setup program to control power out for wireless and such but limited options on their software and did not try to go into router because the people that will be using it if something happened would be lost trying to get it back up and running

Pros: Fast, cheap,

Cons: Router keep dropping it's connection to devices, wireless or lan.
Does not have Daylight Saving Time,which MAY cause some problems since that's when mine started to acting up.

it was mostly good for the first few month, then the week daylight saving started. my wr1042 starts to constantly drop packets, so i did a ping -n 1000

and the results are very strange, about every 2-5 mins,
i starts to get VERY high pings or timed out for 30 secs cycle, then all smooth again, i checked the system log keep saying DHCP renew for different devices, even tho i set the renew time to 2 days.

three weeks later, i can no longer set router to stable use. have to restart it every 30 mins, and most of the time, i can no longer access Admin Panel at 192.168.*.1

Pros: Lots of features on the box, gigabit, fast wifi, WPS

Cons: After ~30 days it started needing to be rebooted routinely or it would bring down my entire network. I returned it when I had to reboot it several times a day to make it keep working. This is not good for an always-on piece of equipment.

Other Thoughts: Sent this in for an RMA but it failed after refund window. Fortunately it is still within the replacement window. Though it looks like newegg charged me full price for the replacement.

Pros: Great feature-set, gui is well designed with many advanced options...

Cons: ...when it works. I have to reset it at least once a day because my ipad can't connect to it. Although my tv's firmware has a well-known issue involving internet and wonky connections, my previous router never posed any problems that caused the tv to act up. Since switching to this router (same tv firmware), it has exacerbated the tv's problem. I have a laptop, ipad, iphone on wifi. Wired laptop, windows server, and tv. The ipad's wireless drops constantly, and won't allow me to reconnect to the router. The wired connections work well.
Currently this laptop is on the wifi connection. But the router won't allow me to log in via the router IP or the tploginlink.net way

Other Thoughts: I was sucked in by the feature set, wanting gigabit ports for my server. I have bought a different router to replace it (I'm out of the return window), and will probably work with this to see if errors are correctable. Perhaps it is the encryption scheme I am using.

Pros: Gigabit ethernet plugs
usb plug n play
300mbps
dual detachable antennas
Open Nat out of the box for xbox live
looks awesome

Cons: After a good first week of reliability the wifi reception would slowly decline and I would loose internet connect every now and then but it would come right back. Very annoying when online trying to play xbox live because I would loose my connection and my game. By the second week I would loose connection and wifi signal and could only resume connection through a power reset. By the third week the router would lock up all lights lit and no connection that could only be resolved through a reset. I contacted tplink support who were great and we updated the firmware and nothing seemed to help. I purchased a netgear wnr2000 and I am into my 3rd week with it and it works great so I wrapped up the tplink and sent it back for a refund. Hurray newegg for their return policy it is great!

Other Thoughts: I previously left a 5 egg review after owning it for a couple of days and now I wish I could remove the previous review because this router has not held up to its expectations.

Pros: Cheap. Great when it works. QoS is robust enough and works.

Cons: First couple months great. After couple months, just like others, Wireless Signal disappears (or appears, but will not connect). DHCP stops working. And because it freeze up, you can't even go into admin page.

Once the router has been on continuously for like 1 week+ without restarting, part of the system goes down. Wireless is broken, DHCP is broken, however existent client connection that are established are fine, so you don't notice it until you add a new device to your network....

I would only recommend this router for those who like turning off everything when they go sleep... for other people who run file servers, or media servers, needing to reboot once a week becomes frustrating... Some people can deal with it, but for me who works with high-end networking gear like Juniper, Cisco, and Brocade all day, this is unacceptable :/

Other Thoughts: I wished the TP-Links people at least write a code for their router to auto-reboot itself if it detects error... They have a "SYS" light that tells you the router status, and when things stop working, the "SYS" is gone... And they should have an actual "reboot" button on the Router instead of having to unplug the pwr cord to reboot lol.

Pros: when working it has suitable speed.

Cons: rarely working at peak performance.

Other Thoughts: have to unplug to reset almost daily and sometimes numerous times a day. Ive tried to be positive and hope that it would start functioning better but I have had no luck. I added the new firm ware and it ran good for about 3 days. I thought that fixed it. now Im back to where I was. Do I have any recourse TP-Link or Newegg?? whats my options other that dropping more money on another router?

It's hard to determine where your issue is as I don't know exactly where you are seeing the problem. The problem could be that you keep dropping Internet while wirelessly staying connected, or you may see that your wireless just keeps dropping all together. Pros: Many features, USB port, detachable antennas, radio on/off button

Cons: Have had in since summer of '12, now drops connections multiple times a day

Other Thoughts: Very nerve racking... and most likely will have to pay 1/4 the value to cover shipping it in order to get it fixed... I guess that the chance you take trying to give a new company a chance... not a great first impression

Another common setting that you can change is the Wireless channel. This is in the Routers Wireless configuration page. Setting the wireless channel to a static channel instead of automatic can help keep the wireless frequency from changing by itself. This can help keep your computers and router stay on one wireless frequency.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: I have owned this router for a week now and I have not yet found any reason why it should receive any less than 5 eggs. I have a 1400sq ft home and I receive 5 bars of signal in all rooms except 1 where I receive 4 bars in my 2nd bedroom that consists of 2 walls between the router and the room itself. Around my home on the outside about 50ft from all directions I receive a solid 3 bars. The detachable antennas are a great addition, the software is easy to use and the quick setup worked for me. I also like the login page for the router itself. It is very well put together. I went from strict NAT on my xbox to open NAT without adjusting any settings on this router I also noticed that with NAT enabled on the router it automatically opens my port for the xbox. I have not had to power cycle my router yet as others described and my wireless seems to work perfectly. I love the way the router looks too it looks like it is ready to do its job. I am using a 16GB PNY attache usb as a "cloud" on my router. So far I have not had any connectivity issues through WAN or LAN. Newegg is awesome, TP Link customer service seems very helpful. If you go to the contact us page on tp link's website you can actually call them unlike some other companies. 90 day newegg warranty and 2 year manufacturer warranty you cannot beat that.

Cons: The device is not on the DD WRT's compatibility list however it is on the incompatibility list. I do not plan on using the DD WRT so I will not knock off an egg for this. Though I know others would like to use this firmware. I cannot get my laptop to run full 300mbps it only shows a speed of 150mbps. I know I am running off of the N network of this router but I do not know if the issue is my laptop or router. I tried messing with the channels and channel width in the router login but my laptop only shows 150 all the time. I have 2 xbox 360s connected through LAN and if I have both of them on at the same time 1 will have open NAT the other will say moderate but this only happens when both are turned on.

Other Thoughts: Out of the box it came with firmware 3.17 and I updated it to the 3.15.4 from tp link. I have it connected through a Netgear DM111PSP-100NAS Modem. I am on Centurylink DSL with 3M down and 512K up. I hope to upgrade the antennas soon. I have 3 laptops connected through wifi, 2 cell phones connected through wifi, 2 nintendo wii connected through wifi, and 2 xbox 360s connected through LAN. Xbox parties, multiplayer, netflix, and hulu have been amazing. I will continuously have 2 laptops connected and 2 cell phones connected when we are home. If we are playing games we typically always have a xbox party going and we run 2 xbox on the same network play halo and such and when we play the wii we do the same with 2 wiis playing black ops or conduit. This router replaced my Zyxel 660 which was a blessing.
