5 out of 5 eggsCheapest Dual Band Gigabit Ethernet

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: Good performance, stable, possibly the most featured budget router in the market.
I was looking for a dual band router with gigabit ports at a low price.

Cons: Can't think of any at this price.

Other Thoughts: I used this firmware version to flash DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) std - build 21061

5 out of 5 eggsGreat router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: Purchased for someone else based on my own experience with this model that has been dependable for a few years now with no issue. User Interface is easy and does support DD-WRT if you need to replace the stock one. External antennas are a bonus.

Cons: The IP address would have been better if default was 192.168.1.1. Had to use the CD to find the default address so can then change it before updating the firmware.

Other Thoughts: Does not apply to my installation which is mounted to a wall in my basement, but some form of bracket so it can stand on a desk would have been nice for those that complained "if this is so new and better, how come my old one had a stand?...." Yes, thats right, compare a Netgear B/G to a newer one. HA!

1 out of 5 eggsWorks fine when it decides to

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: Is DD-WRT compatible, and works well when it actually wants to work.

Cons: Likes to stop transmitting and simply freeze, requiring a reboot. This can happen as often as 1-3 times per day.

Other Thoughts: Would not buy from this company again. This is my first TP-Link machine and for it to be so unstable does not speak well for the company.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

Thank you for taking the time to check out our Router.

It is hard to determine what could be causing the freezing issue since you are using a 3rd Party Firmware for the Router.

If you ever need to revert back to the TP-Link Firmware then you may download it from our site at: http://www.tp-link.us/download/TL-WDR3600_V1.html#Firmware

1 out of 5 eggsFrequent WiFi Disconnects, Terrible Range

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: -Price
-Dual Band
-Easy Setup

Cons: After reading all the positive reviews I decided to purchase this router and I am extremely disappointed.

The range is terrible... I will be on the same floor as the router and struggle to get 2 or 3 / 5 bars.

I keep it on the second floor of my 2 story house like I have with all my routers and it will not reach the basement. Occasionally I'll get a bar but then be disconnected.

And sometimes when I watch a youtube video it will buffer 30 times for a 2 min video.

Oh and I'm writing this review in the same room as the router about 4 feet from it on the 2.4GHz band and I'm only 4/5 bars.

Cannot recommend.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this product.

5 out of 5 eggsA fine router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: It just works the way it's supposed to.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: A problem developed during the installation and configuration process. This in no way was the fault of the product or the instructions. My bad! I telephoned the tech support line and found excellent service and advice which cleared up the issue immediately. Good help is valuable!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: 6 months stable and works incredibly well after ... see cons.

Cons: Setting Advanced Security would cause me to lose connection because when the browser sometimes would try to talk rapidly back and forth with a website, the Router would see it as an attack. It took quite awhile to figure this out, I nearly returned it. They should do a better job of warning people, or perhaps I should say they should do something, anything to warn people, so minus a star. I'll bet it caused a lot of needless returns.

Other Thoughts: Denial of service attack by my own web browser, that was a new one for me... It may be configurable to prevent disconnections, I lost my patience, maybe another day.

5 out of 5 eggsGolly Signal Batman

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: Powerful signal, covers my entire house with full signal as well as a bit outside. I have a 1008 sq ft house and about 1/2 acre outside.

Cons: Power cable was short, wanted to put it on top of my bookshelves, but the cord wouldn't reach that high. Bummer.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 Dual Band Wireless N600 Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5GHz 300Mbps, 2 USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch

Pros: Solid cheap router once it's setup

Cons: Customer service is lacking. Good luck if you need help from TPLink.

Other Thoughts: Voip would not work with this router. No help from TPLink. Disabling hardware NAT fixed my problem. Found solution on another voip website.
