5 out of 5 eggsWorks just like an antenna

Pros: Bought two antennae, plugged them directly into the two connectors on the backplate to my mid-tower. My Windows 7 computer liked its new antennae so much that it started ignoring my CAT5 cable and connected to the internet via WiFi! Sheesh! Computers these days will chase after any new equipment that catches their eye! By the way, I didn't detect that change for a couple of days and my internet services seemed to perform at just as high a level as my CAT5 cable connection (although that shouldn't actually be true). Good antennae, obviously!

Cons: After my Windows 7 computer found the new antennae, I couldn't convince it to prefer its old CAT5 cable connection. After hours of attempting to prioritize it to favor the cable connection over the WiFi connection, I found that Windows 7 refuses to ignore WiFi as its primary connection. I finally disabled the WiFi in order to get Windows 7 to finally connect to use the cable connection. Not the antenna's fault, they can't help it if they're pretty! Zero Eggs deducted.

Other Thoughts: The motherboard in my mid-tower has WiFi built into it and connectors for two antennae on the backplate. The dual antenna that came with the motherboard was some kind of cheap folding dipole thing, so I wanted to replace it. Having these two nice lookin' antennae attached directly to the backplate is so much better than a dipole antenna magnetized to the outside of the computer case.

3 out of 5 eggsGuess it somewhat worked

Pros: - Slightly improved my internet speed

Cons: - Performance gain doesn't justify its price tag

Other Thoughts: My desktop is only getting me 1/3 internet speed when compared to laptop in the same room. I was hoping this antennas will solve the problem and it slightly improved my internet speed. However, the overall performance gain wasn't enough to make me think my $16 (since I bought two of them) was well spend.

If you are getting these for your wireless adapter, you might as well spent little more money and get a new adapter instead. On the other hand, if you are getting this for your router then your experience might be different.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

We appreciate you taking the time to try and review our product. We are sorry to see that you are not fully satisfied with this antenna. We've seen instances where the adapter doesn't provide enough power to the higher-gain antenna causing the signal from reaching its full potential or causing more signal degradation than your original antenna. There is an advanced setting under device manager that allows you to change the power of your Network adapter - it's usually set to max by default. Another thing to keep in mind when purchasing these for your Router is to replace all existing antennas with the same model and type. This will allow a more stable connection than having multiple antennas of a different kind.

Thank you for checking out TP-Link and we hope you can continue to check us out in the future.

Best Regards!

1 out of 5 eggsdid nothing for me

Pros: none

Cons: did not do a thing for range tried on two routers did nothing for a better signal my regular antennas were the same

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

We're sorry to see that the Antenna hasn't helped your performance. A couple things that you may be seeing is that your current antenna and this TP-Link antenna may have the same power to distance ratio. This ANT2405 is a5-dbi antenna and you may see that the one it was replacing was also a 5-dbi antenna. This would definitely produce similar results. It's also important that you replace all antennas on your Router with the same brand and model of antenna. If you happen to mix the different models on a multi-antenna Router, than you may not get the complete results that you are looking for.

The device doesn't seem defective as you are able to transmit and receive data, but the things stated above may be some of the issues that you are seeing. We appreciate you checking out TP-Link and hope that you will continue to check us out in the future.

Best Regards!

2 out of 5 eggsnot bad

Pros: did increase signal strength.(by a very small margin)

Cons: wish these were cheaper

the ones that came with my wireless card were half the size and perform within 3% and they are only 2dbi. these are 5dbi

so thick at the bottom that they touch and can only be bent at certain angles or they hit each other allowing no more movement

Other Thoughts: honestly expected much better than this
and things like this should probably be sold in 2 packs aswell now for wireless n

4 out of 5 eggsGood antenna

Pros: Cheap
Does the job and does it well.
I used this to replace the garbage antenna that came with my Mini-ITX motherboard

Cons: Little bigger than I expected
No dimensions posted

Other Thoughts: Did not compare to the original antenna as I already knew that one was garbage.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't my improve signal at all.

Pros: Great price.

Cons: Did not improve my signal at all. If anything it made the signal slightly worse. I am not even sure how that is possible because they are 2 dBi stronger than the factory ones they replaced.

Other Thoughts: I purchased 3 to replace the 3 x 3 dBi antennas that came on my TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Wireless N Gigabit Router but the signal did not improve. It even went down a little according to wifi analyzer on android and my wifi icon on my laptop lost a bar. I gave it 2 eggs because I have had great success with TP-Link equipment but these just didn't do anything for me. Other reviews show that they do work, just not in my case. If there is something I need to do or any tips that someone can shoot my way, it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I may just need to send these back unfortunately.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes it job

Pros: It works as directed. The antenna works fine just gets equivalent reception to the one I previously used.

Cons: My signal did not improve compared to the smaller antenna that came with my PCMCIA WIFI card.

Other Thoughts: Buy a network Wifi Repeater instead.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: *Cheap
*Keeps my signal full
*Long distance

Cons: *It's big, but not really a con.

Other Thoughts: It's a pretty good deal for the price and it gives a full signal.

Changed my router's 4dbi antenna to this one which is 5dbi, and it dramatically increased my $20 router's performance.
