4 out of 5 eggsgood tablet but not there yet.

Pros: windows compatibility in a tablet.many options out there for attachments with usb converter.

Cons: internet shows these are pleuged with a stand by bug where you cant turn this on but it vibrates when you press the windpws button.

I recived my first one of these in the mail, box was damaged. it stopped working the very next day. i called deal fisherfor a rma and they replaced it. 100% recomend this seller.

i do not know if ill keep this one as it already displayed the common problium a day after i recived my first replacement.

Other Thoughts: i do like this tablet as it is intended for my work, the compatability with my projector , office etc is paramount. my linux isnt 100 perfect

4 out of 5 eggsNice compact little tablet

Pros: Wife uses this in her home office, since her company doesn't allow additional software on their computers. It keeps her entertained with streamed music all day long. Works well with an additional 22 inch 1080 monitor, blue tooth keyboard, and bluetooth mouse. Never thought about it before, but love the way it stays on for hours if the power grid goes down. Everything still operates the same as day purchased.

Cons: Sometimes has difficulty communicating with the home wi-fi, but I believe it is the fault of the home wi-fi. Would be much more difficult to use without the bluetooth devices, therefore loss of one star.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Product

Pros: Windows 8.1 Office Home and Student 2013 GPS

Cons: Weak WiFi

Other Thoughts: I needed 80 tablets for work and was going to go with the Dell Venue. After ordering a few to test we found that the Dell did not have GPS, which was needed for the application. The Toshiba has everything the Dell has plus GPS and a lower price.

5 out of 5 eggsNice tablet

Pros: Many many sensors. Dual cameras. FULL windows version NOT RT. Full office version. Long battery life. Very quick tablet. External monitor thru hdmi, a rare feature for tablets.

Cons: Windows 8.1 does not allow you to save apps to the sd card. Not a knock on the tablet as all windows 8.1 on tablets have this setback. Curiously windows phone 8.1 allows this so hopefully it'll be made available for tablets.

Other Thoughts: I bought this tablet on sale at newegg for 245 and purchased a high speed 64gb sd card. Class 10 or faster. All said less than 300.

For extra space you can delete the recovery partition after transferring it to usb stick. Also install all windows programs to sd card and use the internal for just windows store apps. All said I had about 20gb free on main tablet storage after doing this. Not bad considering what you'd get for 300 dollars from apple.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A stable Windows 8 x86 tablet.

Micro USB charging port.

Fast boot times.

Cons: The tablet could use a bit more memory, slows down a bit when under a heavy load.

The touch screen can sometimes be a bit unresponsive, especially when bringing up the on-screen keyboard.

The Micro USB port is very finnicky about what cables will work.

Other Thoughts: Some people have purchased this tablet have had problems charging. This is usually due to needing a higher amp charger than the norm (around 2 amps, most chargers for phones have only 0.7 amps).
Just use the charger that comes with the unit.

3 out of 5 eggs  price???

Pros: I do not yet own this tablet, but I would like to...

Cons: I would buy this tablet from Newegg if it wasn't $100+ more here than another popular site.

Other Thoughts: The specs on the toshiba meet my needs better than the others. It even meets my price range if looked at another site with the same exact model for $218. Always come here first, but maybe I'll swap that habit.

5 out of 5 eggsnice tablet

Pros: Full windows 8.1
Long battery life
More sensors compared to other 8" tablets
8mp camera
Quad core atom 3740. This thing is serious desktop fast.

Cons: Maybe a little hefty but packs a lot in it.

Other Thoughts: I bought a high speed 64gb card thinking I could install metro apps to it. Microsoft has deliberately disabled that function in windows 8.1. Not a knock to the tablet but c'mon Microsoft. I get you want good performance for the apps and the internal ssd is faster but the card I have is 80mb per second. There should be a speed test or something that MS could use to validate the card meets speed requirements.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly Good Little Tablet

Pros: Light Wintel tablet with just enough processing power to handle most daily-tasks. This tablet easily handles HD movies (MKV containers and MP4 files) and using standard Windows applications. Couch surfing is a breeze and quite enjoyable.

The battery life is excellent and unlike larger tablets it can be charged via USB (note that it requires 2 Amps of current, which many older - read airline - chargers don't provide).

The touchscreen is excellent and responsive, even when using the more classic Windows interface (i.e. not Metro).

Cons: Windows 8.1 while a huge step in the right direction compared to 8 is the biggest detractor for this tablet. Given this isn't Toshiba's fault, I can't subtract any eggs.

There is some minor flex in the screen and casing where the two meet at the edges of the device. Nothing major, but noticeable.

Other Thoughts: The fact that this has HDMI out was perhaps the single most important feature for me as I plan to use for traveling and can hook the tablet up to TVs.

Additionally I suggest anyone getting this tablet to also invest in a USB OTG cable adapter, as this will allow the use of full-size USB drives and other USB peripherals with their tablet.

5 out of 5 eggsToshiba debuts 8" with Windows 8.1

Pros: I just ordered this tablet and will receive it early next week. This short review is based on features and not on actual use. I see that many are comparing the Dell 8" which has a 32 or 64gb ssd to the Asus 10" and I don't think that is comparing apples with apples. Compare this Toshiba to the Dell 8". The 32gb Toshiba is available now and the 64gb Toshiba will be available 12/12/2013 (Toshiba website). Yes it is true that the Dell has an SSD and the Toshiba uses MMC for its hard drive. That being said the Toshiba has a direct HDMI connector a 2mega pixel front facing camera and a rear facing 8 mega pixel camera. The Dell has 1.2 and 5 respectively. The Dell does not have a direct hdmi port. I'm not sure if this Toshiba on newegg comes with office although the Microsoft store has the tablet and appears to be giving the student teacher version away on most of their offerings. Not an issue for me since I will use the cloud which is free and would be partial to Microsoft 365 should I choose to purchase Microsoft office.
I own the Android Excite 10.1" and it is built rock solid and has all the connectivity like this tablet sd card slot, hdmi, usb, front and rear facing camera. I really love Asus products especially their laptops and bought the 10.1" Transformer for the same price as the Toshiba tablet. I returned it because I felt it was more practical for me to have the 8" screen and can buy a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse since it does not come with one. I use a lot of third party device that require usb and a laptop and now I will be able to obtain the same functionality in a portable tablet.
Barring any issues I think this Toshiba is a sleeper and well worth a look at.

Cons: I have purchased this unit from Newegg and have not received it yet and therefore have none at this time.
