4 out of 5 eggsNo Office

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: It does what it is supposed to do.
The keyboard is small, but I hunt and peck so that isn't a problem. I knew it was small when I purchased it.

Cons: Where is my Office, student version?

5 out of 5 eggsBest tablet you can buy

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Heat resistant hard cover casing
Extremely fast loading times
boots from completely powered off to your user's start menu in around 10 seconds
has windows 8.1 (which means it's a full PC in a tablet!)
11-12 hour battery life
detachable pivot-jointed keyboard / mouse-pad
can double as a tablet PC or a laptop
full Microsoft office included
smooth touchscreen interface

Cons: Long charge time
Charging cable is much too short

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a tablet or a laptop, then the ASUS T100 is the perfect choice. Other tablets cannot compare to a full windows tablet. Absolutely everything that you are able to do on your windows desktop or laptop can also be done on this tablet. How can an over-sized iPod (iPad) even slightly compare to a full computer? Apps? who needs apps when you have full web browsers with full Adobe Flash support, browsers which are also capable of downloading anything and everything. Apps are often just mobilized websites, but you can't professionally edit videos using programs like Sony vegans on an iPad. You can't produce and compose music and record audio to the extent that programs like FL Studio can on an android device. Can your IPad jailbreak your iPhone, or even import music and videos to it? No? My ASUS T100 tablet can. How? Because it's a full computer. Are you gonna finish typing that paper for that composition class using your iPad? Yeah, i didn't think so either. But I'm gonna zip through that paper with my detachable keyboard and Microsoft Word which came included with my ASUS T100 Windows PC tablet. And as a matter of fact, I typed out this whole review using that tablet and keyboard. Windows tablets are hands down the best tablets you can buy. You would be a fool to spend $750 on an over-sized iPod (iPad) when the$400 ASUS T100 offers so much more!

3 out of 5 eggsGood but not some flaws

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Good price-performance. Windows 8.1 (better than RT version)

Cons: - Shockingly short charging cable, expect to charge the tablet on the floor, as it won't reach much else.
- Biggest problem: when the keyboard is attached, the display cannot be rotated back -- making it almost impossible to use on your lap unless you tilt the keyboard up in the air. Also challenging to use on a desk, for the same reason.

Not very impressed by these design flaws.

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: +comes with office home & student 2013
+good value
+windows 8 runs well on this hardware. boot times are good and apps open relatively quickly.

Cons: -had a little difficulty getting the keyboard to attach completely at first. after some practice it gets easier.
-weird intermittent problems. sometimes the keyboard doesnt work. sometimes the touch screen does not work. sometimes it takes F O R E V E R to wake up. flashing the BIOS does not seem to help with these problems. fortunately these issues don't happen too often.
-long charge time. would be a bigger issue but the battery life will get me through 1-2 days before needing an over night charge.

Other Thoughts: *its not the best tablet, but its a good one. its not the best ultra portable laptop, but its a good one. it fit my needs because i wanted it mostly for email, web browsing and apps but occasionally doing things that you might need a laptop/full desktop operating system for.
*would have been nice to have a rear camera and/or battery in the keyboard, but i'd rather have the lower price than those features as i don't think i would use them frequently.
*i don't really notice or care that the screen resolution is lower than many android tablets.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I'm glad that you are satisfied with the Transformer Book. I certainly understand your concern regarding the disconnect issue with the keyboard dock. To have a proper connection, please make sure the tablet was push all the way down and locked in place. If I can be of further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3579818 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost a 10

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Tablet itself is very responsive, bright, clear and crisp screen. Office included with key. Plays flash based games on FB very well as well as some very basic games like the retail bejewed blitz. Battery life is good and if you have the proper charger it will charge while turned on or at least hold steady.
Will accept up to 64 gig microSD.

Cons: The only reason for deducting 1 egg was the docking keyboard. The mouse/touch area is cheesy to say the least. The left and right mouse buttons make a loud clicking when pushed. The rest of the keypad and key action are nice.

Other Thoughts: Overall. A Great 2 in one Tablet. Seeing what is available out there, I would buy another one.

3 out of 5 eggsSecond Thoughts

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Long battery life, Windows 8.1, Runs the same apps as my desktop mostly but lacks power to run some programs well. It's OK for email, social networking, browsing the web, and streaming video. Plays video well and the screen is quite good.

Cons: Windows 8.1 (yes it's both a pro and a con) , Windows 8.1 has a lack of apps that can do even what Android apps can do. The screen is too small to really use Windows desktop apps as effectively as I would like. It's hard to hit the buttons on the screen by touch and the use of the touch pad helps but a mouse is far superior. I find myself longing for my Android device often. I'm a little disappointed at the performance of this machine given that it is a quad core processor. If I had it to do over again I'd buy a high end Android tablet. Android emulator bluestacks is just OK. The Windroy app shows promise but is too early in development and won't run my favorite apps right (Tecarta Bible).

Other Thoughts: This is my second review and my enthusiasm for this machine is somewhat diminished since my first review. After trying some Wondows 8 apps from the Windows store I find that they don't seem to satisfy me as well as the Android apps I have used. If Microsoft wants to please users they'll help develop a way to run Android apps on their windows platform. They need to face the fact that they got beat by Apple Tablets and even Android. They are still living in the old glory days of Windows when there really wasn't any serious competition.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank your for the positive review you have provided to the laptop. I'm sorry if you are dissatisfied with WINDOWS 8.1. Should you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3540833 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggslove it

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Small package, great capability, great price. Boots in seconds. Battery life is tremendous. The disk access and processor speeds are fast and challenge my big engineering laptop. This is great for quick and easy things like internet, email, and business use such as on-the-road presentations, meetings, etc. Connecting to monitors or projectors is easy with microHDMI adapter. Worked great out of the box - no issues.

Cons: Availability is tough. Microsoftstore.com had it in stock, bought it from there. Seems that charging on USB cables other than the supplied one is current-limited. Use the stock cable for fast charging. The keyboard is handy but get yourself a wireless keyboard/mouse if you plan on working on it for any length of time.

Other Thoughts: Where else can you get a 10 inch tablet, Windows 8 and Office for under $400? My wife bought this for her business but she has to keep me away from it. Given the low price, I think I'll just go get myself one too as a light and fast complement to my more powerful laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsTransformed

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: Bay Trial processor.
Windows 8.1.
Keyboard included.
Great battery life.

Cons: Charger cord a little short.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a tablet that is not android or Apple this would be a good choice. With Windows and a scaled down Office this is a great product. I've used it for about 2 months now and have no complaints. I think the screen is as good as any other more expensive one. I primarily use it to surf the net, read magazines, and watch videos. Got it from Newegg at the best price.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a New World

This review is from: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: I have the same functionality in this light tablet as in my 15" laptop.
Bootup is quick, 15s. Battery life is incredible. Came with Windows 8.1 and office. Runs my apps.. Quicken, TurboTax. Screen is nice. Touch is great, new to me.

Cons: Screen resolution is on par with my old laptop, but I'm wishing I had more.

Other Thoughts: I'm not a gamer and I won't be watching movies on this. Just word excel financial apps email Facebook and surfing. These run great on this machine. The heavy laptop is getting retired.
