Does this have an M.2 slot?

yes it does, but if you order the 256GB ssd included model it uses it and there is not an additional free m.2 slot.
i personally ordered the 256gb ssd model but then swapped mine out for a samsung 850 evo i had from my prior laptop because it was a little faster and gave my prior laptop the 256gb that came with this one instead.  (loss of 6gb for a gain of almost 100MBps)

How long is the practical battery life? I know the specs mention 5 hrs but i would like to know from a user what they experience.

I think it really depends on just what your doing with the machine, as well as how you have it configured to handle being on battery power.

I only expect really 3hrs of average usage on battery, and would be pleasantly surprised to see more. But that's without delving in to configure things to save power "At ALL." so it would not surprise me if it really can hit 5hr's if you futz around with settings to save juice.

Runs world of warcraft legion 20 man raids without any issue, and runs Heroes of the Storm, so I assume overwatch is ok.

Geoff Gasior of Asus posted a hands-on showing that it ships with a single 16GB SODIMM with one slot free. I sent him an email asking about the type of memory used so I could order a second SODIMM. He replied that the part number is Samsung M471A2K43BB1-CPB. If you Google "geoff gasior gl702vm", you should find the hands-on article.

what is the biggest ssd that can fit inside this laptop if i want to upgrade the 1tb ssd?

I'd like to find out the power consumption. Is there a ballpark figure for KiloWatts Consumed per hour?

I'm sorry, that's not some thing I track. 4 months in and I will say I am very happy with this machine though. I use it to game away from home and it runs No Man's Sky and Mech Warrior Online very well and MWO is on the Cryengine. Even with sub par wireless connection NMS runs smooth and MWO lags only a bit. With half the bars showing it runs smooth, I really have no complaints. Again, this may not help with the info you are looking for but as MWO was my priority that's what I know.
