5 out of 5 eggsHappy with product

Pros: Excellent speed. Chrome is excellent for my uses which are internet, e mail, and banking activities. Chrome is more secure than Windows PCs for finance uses. Build is excellent. Keyboard is smooth. Keys are larger than the previous Acer model.

Cons: Printing is more of a task. Applications not made to simplify process from Chromebooks as of yet. Battery life is good but could be better.

Other Thoughts: Happy with this purchase. Fast computer for what it is made to do. I would purchase again. I like this better than Samsung's Chromebook models. Design is nicely updated from previous Acer model.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good laptop replacement

Pros: Fast boot time. Syncs with all my Google-Chrome-Browser settings that I have on my work laptop. Battery life is great - for my use of 1-2 hours a night, I only charge it once a week! I don't even take the charger along if I'm on a business trip. Feather light. HDMI output to amp it up to a big screen too (nice for video playback).

Cons: As other have stated, the keyboard keys are full size, but there are fewer of them in the small form factor. Not a big deal to learn, just use the built in reminder by pressing "ctrl-alt-?" and it will display all of the hidden keys.

As some mention - you can hear the whine of the fan every now and then in a quite room - but again, crank up the tunes and problem solved...

One more sort of con - it took me a while to figure out that you can click and drag items by pressing down harder on the lower half of the track pad until you hear a 'click'. That was a little frustrating trying to move objects until I figured it out...

Other Thoughts: I bought this to take on business trips - to keep my work-stuffs separate from my non-work-stuffs. The light weight and no need to take a charger made it a simple decision that I haven't regretted.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome little device

Pros: Fast, physical dimensions & weight are ideal, small learning curve, overall well designed and great price.

Cons: Some keyboard options not quite logical; needs more off-line apps.

Other Thoughts: I've used this computer now for a few months and I absolutely love it. It's lightweight both physically and systems wise without feeling as though something is lacking. This thing really boots in under 10 seconds and has excellent battery life. Learning to use the apps is pretty easy and in some cases more off-line apps would be welcomed, it doesn't appear to be a show-stopper for me.

Prior to this device, I had an Asus Transformer tablet with docking keyboard and that was good but not quite the right computing experience. I sold it and used the proceeds to buy this machine and am so much more happier. I get the best of all worlds: a fast loading devices that runs apps quickly and intuitively. It is well designed and provides me with a computing experience I'm most comfortable and familiar with.

Google and Acer have a definite hit in this package.

3 out of 5 eggsmixed

Pros: fast, inexpensive, great battery life

Cons: won't autoconnect to wifi unless I broadcast ssid. won't connect to bluetooth mouse. acer tech support does not have any info on mice that will work.

Other Thoughts: bought this because asus chromebox was backordered. my mistake. i wanted the wired lan and extra usb ports on the chromebox. why can't acer just build or recommend a mouse that works. my tablet, win laptop and desktop easily connect to my lan. this chromebook seems like a step backwards.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop Replacement

Pros: Runs incredibly fast (the 7 second boot-up time boast is no joke), nice and light, incredible battery life. This thing lasts me an entire day of classes and work (9:30am to 10:00pm) with no problems. I was also able to install Ubuntu parallel to the chrome OS with no issues whatsoever thanks to the Intel chipset.

Cons: The keyboard is not very good. It takes some getting used to. Not a huge issue, but the only reason I didn't give this machine 5/5.

Other Thoughts: The only reason not to get a chromebook is if you're heavily reliant on Microsoft Office. Even then, google docs is a great alternative.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent bang for the buck.

Pros: Cheap, lightweight, long battery life,Haswell Celeron feels up to the job, no problem streaming Netflix or HBO Go.

The Chrome App selection is very good and I never really feel limited in what I can do with it.

Cons: Cheap, take care when lifting up the screen. The hinges seem really sturdy but there is some flex on the back side of the screen. Not a deal breaker and no eggs deducted for it. Hey, it's $219.00!

Other Thoughts: I bought this to have a an extra computer at home and to use for work. The offline apps are basic but all I need. Works great at home, the shop and the library. The one time I needed to get online in the middle of nowhere was not a problem. Just made my phone a mobile hot spot and got right to work. Works great for simple presentations too.

This is just so much more useful than a tablet for what I do and yes, I owned an iPad.

4 out of 5 eggsGood buy

Pros: Super light, looks good, 8hr battery life, webcam is good, sound is pretty good, fast, awesome price, etc.
It has been a dream to bring this to classes after my old 7lb Toshiba. A DREAM.

Cons: There are only two cons that are worth stating (i.e. not obvious ones based on facts about it being a chromebook or small or whatever): one is that the speakers being on the bottom mean you pretty much always want to use headphones, because it's going to typically be a bit muffled. That's not a big deal though.

The main thing is that it produces this high-pitched ringing a lot of the time (though sometimes it goes away) whether it's plugged in or not. I have really sensitive ears and I'm a bit ocd so I always notice it and it bothers the hell out of me. It's an easy fix though - I just put on headphones and listen to music from google play since you get a free 100 GB CLOUD SPACE. awesome.

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome buy. I am glad I did it.
