CNPS10X Optima Features

Powerful Cooling Performance

Optimally designed aluminum fins disperse heat away from the CPU via four heatpipes with 6,553cm2 of Heat Displacement Area, while a switching-noise-free, high capacity 120mm fan quickly cools the heatsink for incredibly stable operation of high performance CPUs.

4 heatpipes

Shark`s Fin Blade / Dual Fan Support

Shark`s Fin Blade

Optimized for maximum airflow, Shark's Fin Blade Fan greatly reduces the turbulence caused by fan rotation, thus decreasing the noise and vibration while increasing the airflow. The heatsink is designed to mount one or two fans according to your preferences.

Differentiated Design

Direct Touch Heatpipe (DTH) Base technology transfers the CPU's heat directly to the heatpipes, thereby minimizing heat resistance and maximizing cooling performance.

Differentiated Design

Compatible with Mid Tower Cases (180mm Width)

Compatible with Mid Tower Case

For optimum case compatibility, the heatsink's height is set to 152mm which ensures compatibility with a case width of 180mm or greater.

Versatile Compatibility

CNPS10X Optima accommodates a broad range of sockets, including: Intel LGA1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 775, and AMD FM2 / FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2.

Versatile Compatibility

High Performance Super Thermal Grease ZM-STG2M

High Performance Super Thermal Grease ZM-STG2M

5 out of 5 eggsZalman CNPS10x Optima

Pros: Cools my amd fx 6300 by 20 degrees on the high end, 10 on the low (I get 17 degree temps idle, 30 degree full load prime95 vs the stock cooler 30 degree idle 60 degree load) and I've overclocked from 3.5 to 4.5ghz.

Includes clips for a second fan.

Easy assembly (coming from an expert) took less than 30mins installing on amd. If you don't use the tape as I didn't it's a bit awkward getting the first screw started but after that it went together quickly.

Cons: Fan is a bit loud but tolerable, 1800rpm produces almost 30 decibels

Other Thoughts: Probably going to replace the stock fan with a cougar 64cfm @ 16.5 decibels and get my rig closer to silent

4 out of 5 eggsTricky

Pros: Used this because it was recommended by VideoGuys for an NLE computer build. So far seems to be working well.

Cons: Tricky to install, you need two people. Instructions are not very clear at times.

Other Thoughts: The case I bought only has 2 fans included (Antec 302) so this is a must to cool an Intel i7 processor.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent cooling for the price.

It was fairly quiet until the bearing on the fan went out.. If/when the fan goes out, it can be replaced with an off-the-shelf 120mm case fan.

Cons: It's a PITA to install. The process of unmounting my MB and trying to get everything lined up and screw.ed
(thanks word filter) down without getting thermal paste everywhere took about an hour.

After about a month, the fan started making a loud rattling noise. I had already thrown away the packaging, so I just bought a generic 120mm case fan and replaced the stock one.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: +Decent cooling.
+Inexpensive

Cons: Fan can get a bit loud when spinning at 100%.
Thankfully, this only happens when your computer is really loaded. Normally it's pretty quiet.

Other Thoughts: Picked one up when there was a 20.00 dollar rebate, making my net cost < a Hamilton.

Finally installed it with my Ivy Bridge i5 clocked at 4.3 ghz, replaced my aging Corsair H60.

Cooling is comparable, but without the annoying pump on the Corsair.

In my mid tower system I max out at about 81c running Prime 95.
No complaints, until the fan really spins up it's not annoying.

For the price, it's just really hard to beat this cooler. I'd probably compare this cooler to a Hyper 212+ for cooling, although putting this together was a bit easier.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent for price

Pros: For the price it's a good heatsink.

I don't think there are a huge difference between heatsink's of this price and size, but the reason to go with this one would be that it has somewhat more depth than other offerings.

Cons: The fan in mine did not last, it was okay at first, still quite loud, but it's very noisy now at anything above 1400rpm.

Other Thoughts: Keep my 760k oc to 4.6 very cool. Max load at 100% fanspeed it keeps around 50C

4 out of 5 eggsGood Cooling

Pros: Excellent cooling for the price

Cons: The attachment to the motherboard is not as good as other fans, it uses a double-sticky tape and does not feel as mechanically stable.

3 out of 5 eggsRattling fan

Pros: Fast delivery but that's par for Newegg. Not hard to install if you can get to the back of mb. Nice price.
Fins clear memory heat spreaders but just barely (MSI) and has 3/8" clearance on side of case (NZXT)

Cons: Fan rattling after 5 days.(that's not cool)

1 out of 5 eggsLow quality

Pros: N/A

Cons: The copper on the plate had gouges. This is because there was no protective plastic cover on the plate. There are gaps between the copper and aluminum so it will never set flat on the processor. the aluminum fins are flimsy and cheap

Other Thoughts: This is my first and last Zalman product purchase. No way I'm installing this on my $350 processor. I bought it at a local retail store and took it back for refund. Bought another name brand cooler and it works great . They were smart enough to put on a protective cover and no gaps

2 out of 5 eggsDecent cooler, poor quality fan, bad warranty

Pros: I got it for pretty cheap after MIR. Seems to be pretty efficient at cooling.

Cons: Where to start...

1) The packaging was short one motherboard screw that I needed. How that happens I am not sure. I decided to install it anyway with just three motherboard screws and it seems to be seated pretty evenly so I'm okay with that.

2) After about 3 months the fan starting making an incredibly annoying clicky sound. It was pretty weird at first. If I lay the palm of my hand across the side of my computer case, the sound goes away so it was an issue with vibrations going through the case and causing the annoying sound. After playing detective for a while trying to find the source of the vibrations, I finally narrowed it down to the cpu fan on this cooler. The fan was causing vibrations to go throughout my computer case and upon inspecting the fan, I found out that the fan bearings were loose and that I could move the fan blade back and forth. The fan still worked fine and it was cooling just fine, but eventually I just got fed up with the super annoying sound and ordered a different 120mm fan (a Noctua) for the cooler unit. I am pretty sure that will fix the vibrations problem.

3) Of course the warranty had expired once the fan started failing. Also, Zalman is terrible at responding to any emails I sent them. No responses at all.

Other Thoughts: For the price (if you can find it for <$20 like I did), the cooling capacity is pretty good. However, be prepared to find the quality of the fan to be lackluster.
