MX-2 is a high thermal conductivity and low thermal resistance compound for components that require optimum thermal dissipation. It is ideally suited for use in CPU, GPU cooling and other applications between power semiconductor components and heat sinks where thermal conductivity is a major factor.

  • newegg Maximizes Heat Transfer The high-performance Arctic cooling MX-2 thermal compound eliminates minute air gaps between the heat source and the heat sink caused by their uneven surfaces for the optimized heat transfer.
  • newegg Electrical Insulator Having no metal or any other conductive material, the Arctic cooling MX-2 thermal compound cannot result in any damage even when it contacts to electrical traces, pins and leads.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage at best?

Pros: Non conductive

Cons: None, see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: My paste of choice has always been Arctic Silver 5 but I decided to try this because it's non conductive in nature. What can I say about this stuff? Well, as my title suggests, it's average. I don't believe it gives you the cooling performance it claims.

Now with that being said, I used this product on my new Intel Core I7 5820K which was a brand new build so I have no referance of compairison with any other product like Arctic Silver 5. I can however tell you my cousin built the same computer as I, same cpu, mobo, ram, etc., he is using the Corsair H100i. Whereas I am using the Corsair H80 to cool our cpu's.

He stuck with using the paste that was pre applied to his block and I used this stuff. The end results are we are running at about the same temps, 34c idle and 62c load. We are both overclocked to 4ghz.

With my cousin having a double rad and I only a single, you would think he would get better cooling them me. Could this be because he stuck with using the factory pre applied thermal paste? Yes, it could. I do know that stuff is bottom of the barrel in performance.

He could get better temps than me if he uses something better, perhaps even this stuff. One could also make the assumption with me having the single rad using this stuff and he having the double rad using factory paste, this stuff wins in cooling performance with us running at the same temps.

I think im going to get some more AR5 and reseat my cpu, let it burn in for a couple days, and see if I get lower or the same temps.

5 out of 5 eggsThermal paste

Pros: First time using paste (I used to use dielectric grease). Was reviewed and rated as on of the best. Assists my water cooler in keeping my processor under 38C. Didn't fully load it (processor) yet. Says there's an optimal burn in time of 500 hours?

Cons: N/A

5 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Fair price for the compound. Electrically non-conductive but it transfers heat like a champ.

Cons: The tube is deceptively long. You don't get a huge amount, but should last through maybe 4 to 5 applications.

Other Thoughts: I don't benchmark thermal compounds for a living, but I applied this to the heatsink in my laptop and saw a VERY noticeable drop in temperatures (around 10 degrees Celsius) and the fan turns off way more often. There was some really cheap stuff in my machine.

5 out of 5 eggsGood thermal paste

Pros: It's a very good alternative to stock paste.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Dries very quickly in small amounts, so be careful about dribbles and cleaning the cap off to avoid it getting clogged/stuck.

5 out of 5 eggsThermal Compound

Pros: What can I say? It's thermal compound. Was a little thicker than I though it would be, but seems to be making a connection. CPU has not over heated. Using stock Intel Cooler

Cons: There are no cons I can think of currently.

5 out of 5 eggsCoooooool

Pros: -Does what it's supposed to do
-4g goes a long way. Since buying it a little more than a year ago I have applied and reapplied thermal paste to both my desktops, both laptops, and a friend's pc (7 applications total) and there's still a bit left in the tube.

Cons: -None

Other Thoughts: -Wish they put this stuff on my heat sink in the first place
