5 out of 5 eggsAmazing, just amazing!!!!

Pros: These do everything they clam to for cheap. I picked up two for my 150 raptors which were very very load in my case. Huge vibration resonance throughout the case and high heat off both drives. After mounting them in these bad boys they are cool and quiet. I would buy these again in a heart beat!

Cons: Umm, for me personally none. If you have a poorly designed case with slide rails... well thats not my problem now is it. ;)

Other Thoughts: As I said above I used these on two 150 raptors and they are just amazing. I used 3 bays when installing these. One mounted on drive upside down in the middle bay with the mounting pegs droping the drive as far as it could go. The other drive on the top bay with the mounting pegs droping it as far as it could go. After that I installed a "Scythe KAMA BAY SCKB-1000BK 120mm 120mm Fan for 5.25" System Cooling" and these have been cool and quite since!

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely A Great Product!

Pros: Very nice combination cooler/3.5"-to-5.25" mounting adapter! Excellent design that incorporates variable-height "springs" on top heatsink to allow for use with 3.5" drives of various heights. Rubber shock-mounts isolate and protect the drive from external case bumps and vibrations and also don't allow drive's own noise to propagate through the system. Cooling effect is obvious due to the increased surface area so that even slight air movements throughout case would allow heat to be transferred away from the drive.

Cons: Only con to purchasing is trying to filter through the often bizarre Newegg reviews written by all the doubtlessly "Tech Level: High" lamers...

Other Thoughts: "Tech Level: High" reviewer (below) that complains about drive not being securely mounted when he only inserted screws on one side of drive cooler probably also wonders why he keeps driving in circles when he only puts wheels on one side of his car... Drives of all types should ALWAYS be mounted on both sides!

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Install Design

Pros: May assist in cooling hard drives. Overall concept seems sound.

Cons: Absolutely TERRIBLE design. My case, like most cases, only requires two screws on any drive to hold it securely in place.
When installed into the case with the hard drive contained, this unit needs at LEAST 3 screws to hold it securely. Otherwise it flops around quite loosely. This is only a problem if you intend to move the computer around, or if you bump the case. Either way, it was completely unacceptable to me. In looking at the "finished install" picture, the product is SUPPOSED to be loose like this. They actually show it with one side of the product sagging downwards while the other is held in by screws. If that is not terrible design, I don't know what is.

Other Thoughts: Sound concept, horrible design and overall product. DO NOT buy this thing unless you have one of those exceedingly few cases where you can actually manage to put screws on both sides of the drive when it's slipped into the case.

1 out of 5 eggsdidnt do anything for 4 months, then leaked

Pros: is big and heavy and sorta cool looking with the thick heatpipes.

Cons: The sidebars are not straight so they don't touch the sides of the hard drives. Stick thermal goop there but the drive still won't run cooler. Blow a fan on the heatpipe and top plate and lower temperatures because you are BLOWING A FAN on it! To end my experience with this product, doing work elsewhere on the machine, I found my hands were not damp, but liquid dripping wet. I tracked it down to BOTH ends of the heatpipes leaking on the sides of the hard drive. Luckily, nothing had dripped into the electronics of the drive or the motherboard yet.

Other Thoughts: It would save you time and money to just blow a fan on the drive.

2 out of 5 eggsNot quite marginal

Pros: Solid construction quality
Well made mounting points.

Cons: Flawed idea.
It barely makes any difference in drive temp. The heatpipes do eventually warm up to equal the drive temp. But with such a small surface area and NO active air movement the whole thing stays hot, and so does your hard drive.

Other Thoughts: A cheap 70mm fan cools far better than this or any passive solutions I have tried including some fairly massive, solid aluminum coolers with large heat sinks. Moving air is much more effective than passive coolers.

3 out of 5 eggsNot the best passive cooler

Pros: The cooler does its job of increasing the surface area.

Cons: Much marketing bull with this product. The heat pipes will not do anything (the liquid will just evaporate to the top). Since it does not include any anti-vibration pads may increase the noise (this is heavily dependent on resonant frequencies).

Other Thoughts: Newegg sells other passive hard drive coolers which enclose the hard drive completely, these will reduce the noise more than this product.

2 out of 5 eggsworthless

Pros: it does dissipate the heat off the HD

Cons: you don't need this, it doesnt work that great, passive cooling??? takes up a 5.25'' bay, hope you have a couple extra..

Other Thoughts: If I could do it all over again, I wouldnt have bought this. waste of money

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased!

Pros: Excellent performance for a silent solution. I doubt if fans are ever necessary for hard drive cooling with a product like this around. I feel like my Atlas II 15k is in very good hands. Also, it looks extremely cool.

Cons: Virtually none for the owner of a normal case. But for me and my stupid tool-free case (never again!), I had to improvise a little to attach it to my case's plastic sliders. Only other slight con is that it will probably take two of your drive spaces (fits in one, but inside the computer the clearance isn't really enough for another drive right above it).

Other Thoughts: If you want great cooling AND silence, just pay the few extra bucks and get this. And as always, newegg's shipping is unbeatable!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does a decent job at keeping the drive cool provided there is proper air flow inside the case.

Cons: Beware of mounting any devices in the bays above this cooler. Very little clearance.

Other Thoughts: May want to pair this with another cooler to force air along the fins. Mounting a small fan in front brought the drive temperature from 48'C down to 35'C on average.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It keeps my hard drive cool, and looks pretty cool. I have a WD Raptor and when I touch it, it feels cooler.

Cons: I have a Gigabyte 3D Aurora case, and it was a bit tricky to install. The rollers are tightened to one side. And it seems a bit loose, when installed.

Other Thoughts: It looks cool and seems to do its job.
