5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound clear

Pros: clear with low note sound no distortion all the way, no amped ouput signal from sound card.

Cons: power is on volume, wish it was a push button to turn on volume nob, insteat turning down to turn off. Also, there is no stanby sleep on this pair. I knew this they should added though.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the wife~

Pros: Good looks-Well built speakers
Sound is great-Bass response is good, not over bearing.
Most important-Wife is happy~

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is most probably a case of my socket reaching it's limit (Same circuit as washer), but when I hooked these up when the washing machine was running-it put the cirrcuit over the limit and flipped the breaker. Since then, I have redistributed the power needs for the entire system for safety.
I didn't realize I was that close with everything running. Hooked up the kill-a-watt meter and found 2.7W @ .5AMPS

4 out of 5 eggsRotten Egg Returns Policy

Pros: Compact, good looking speakers.Well balanced sound, with ample power and very adequate bass for home computer audio. Extremely nice 'heft' and finish.

Cons: Please accept my apology for deducting one egg, and for this somewhat unrelated gripe, but I feel shoppers should be aware of the Egg's lame returns policy:

NE initially shipped me a damaged set of DOA speakers that looked like someone else's return, then charged me 11 bucks to return and exchange them via the UPS store, which I was forced to drive across town to personally deliver to. The 'Egg 'sale' price ended up being not such a good deal, especially after having to wait an additional week to finally receive a second shipment containing a genuinely new item.

I understand that electronics purchases occasionally arrive DOA or damaged. BUT when Ammazon sells you a defective item, they send UPS to your door to pick up the return for FREE; no questions asked. Guess where I'm buying my electronics from now on... Buyer beware.

Pros: Crisp sound even when turned up. Love I can plug in headphones right into the speaker. Nice sounding bass. Nice looking design.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great bang for your buck. Produces nice sound and bass. They don't take up much room on my desk.

4 out of 5 eggs"Collin C." below me - READ THIS!

Pros: Hello "Collin C" who posted his review below mine:

If speakers distort at <50% volume, ==> you're overloading their amplified input. GET IT?
I admit it's an engineer in me who is irritated by the common folks who buy a piece of technology, abuse it and complain "it didn't last", but fact is - can you even read the specs? What does 28Watt RMS power into 2 channels tell you my friend?, it tells me 14 Watt per channel of root-mean-square sinusoidal power in electrical (not audio) terms. Does that sound like a huge audio pressure able to shake your walls?
Anyway, I apologize for sarcasm, but:
You have blown your speakers by overloading their input with an ALREADY AMPLIFIED signal from your source - your mistake, not manufacturer's.
It is equivalent to buying an Intel processor, overclocking/overheatign it repeatedly , during hot humid sessions, maybe knckng on it with a hammer to make sure it runs faster, and then accusing Intel "it didn't last, like server XEON [which $costs multiple times more] does"

P.S. Fact that I don't work for Creative Labs nor trying to promote their product for personal gain, is verifyable by the fact that I had posted numerous reviews (not only Newegg, but the other big eTailers) linked to a variety of products/manufactuer's, I obviously cannot work for 50 so,me companies at once; OK, I just post this review which seems like a kiss for Creative, NOT on their behalf, but on behalf of all engineers who struggle with certain type of a customer. No matter how well one designs a product, there's always a customer - specifically in America, who will find ways to abuse and destroy it.
Someone is sending an ALREADY amplified signal into another amplifier and claims "distortion", wow,
OF COURSE DISTORTION! - you fried speakers, with own action.

Cons: Uneducatd folks annoy me.
Also using this opportunity - not just speakers, but in GENERAL - people, when you review & mark it "negative', do NOT review shipping!
This is not a place to review UPS, FedEx, USPS or whatever else, if shipping was slow go complain elsehwere, here I only care for a PRODUCT review.

Other Thoughts: Some of my thoughts are dangerous.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for a while

Pros: Pretty good, crisp sound.

Cons: Not able to get very loud without distorting audio, stopped working slightly after the warranty ran out.

Other Thoughts: I wish manufacturers put more time in to making a product that lasts. These speakers had never fallen and were never knocked over, I barely ever took them above 50% volume due to the distortion, and they stop working shortly after the warranty expires. This will be the last set of creative speakers I buy.
