5 out of 5 eggsSolved Faulty Channel! Great Speakers

Pros: First off, I bought these used, but in researching about them after getting them, I found these reviews here so thought I would post a review/response as I am a Newegg regular...

First thing I noticed about them is they are HEAVY for their size. Most speakers nowadays are chintzy plastic "tin cans" with no weight or other significance of any kind. Being a long time audiophile, weight can be an early indicator of quality... It's there. Next, they have a nice finish to them - good solid feeling plastic, a gloss smooth front, removable mesh grilles, the knobs have a very good feel to them (good solid and "comfortably firm" resistance to turning) - i.e., good "button test". Third, after fixing them (see below) they sound FANTASTIC, especially for NOT having the x.1 separate subwoofer, and again, especially for their relatively unobtrusive size. The separate bass and treble knobs by the volume knob allow simple adjustment to suit your liking right on the speakers.

Cons: In response to the reviews of one or both channels going out, being used I didn't know what to expect... Well, turns out the left channel of mine didn't work. Figures... So I started fiddling to diagnose WHAT the issue might be. Using the PC L/R balance and different cables and such, narrowed down the speaker itself was fine - played OK under right circumstances. Taking the right speaker apart (6 screws down the 2 bottom holes and 4 holes where the grille goes) there's more electronics inside a speaker than I've ever seen! But everything looked ok, no circuit corrosion or any evident damage, and both speakers worked OK independently, just not together. Long story short, I used a can of canned-air-blaster and shot the rheostats for the knob and wasn't having any success.. Finally I direct blasted rheostat for the volume knob and something clicked and suddenly BOTH channels worked normally!!

Other Thoughts: So for those that have one channel go down, pull apart the right (main/controlling) speaker and shoot the rheostats behind the 3 knobs with the compressed canned air. Did the trick for me, the canned air is cheap, and it could bring your speakers back to life!

And just so you'll hate me for sure.... I picked these up at a yard sale for $6.50 - complete with box and power adapter and 2 other adapters and instructions. Yep, I made out on that deal. VERY happy with the sound quality of them.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent set of 2.0 speakers

Pros: Treble and Bass controls.
Headphone and auxiliary jacks.
Tweeter and midrange drivers.
Decent highs, midrange, and lower midrange.
Ported speakers. Creative brands that with a weird fancy name: BasXPort.
Cosmetics (I think it's a little overdone though).

Cons: Midrange drivers could be bigger.
Profile is a bit thin, providing a less stable base to stand on.
Wish the cabinets were wood instead of plastic.
Ports at the top of the speakers allow dust to enter easily.
Performance is only slightly better than the old and venerable Altec Lansing ACS41, which was half the price of the T20.
No subwoofer output jack (very few 2.0s have this, such as the ACS41, I'm nitpicking).

Other Thoughts: Great, just great, Newegg. You raised the price by 20% then put on a pseudo 20% off sale on this. Har har.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PC speakers

Pros: +Great over all sound
+Bass and treble control
+Realatively small foot print
+Good bass for 2.0 unit
+aux in and headphone jacks power off nob on the speaker & easily acessable.
+small foot print
+minimal cables.

Cons: None that I can really think off right now.

Other Thoughts: I'm very pleased with these speakers. I think they sound pretty fantastic for a $100 2.0 system. I listen to practically every genre of music From Mozart to Bernstein to Johnny Cash to Nirvana and Tupac to Emenim. Going through my playlists I was really pleased with its range and I never really felt that I needed more bass or that I needed it to be any louder. For those concerned with bass and loudness, keep in mind that these are PC SPEAKERS and I'm guessing Creative designed this thing thinking users would probably be sitting right in front of it. That being said these babies are capable of filling my small 10x10 bedroom with great sound but if you have a larger room or want booming bass and want to blow out your ears you should get yourself a tradational 5.1 or 7.1 home theater system with a seperate receiver. For those who want good sound without the hassles of a 5.1 speaker systems or lack the space, this set is one I would recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome 2.0 sound

Pros: - EXCELLENT bass output for such a small system!
- Good mids, great highs
- Looks and feels sturdy
- Chrome Bass and Treble knobs
- Removable grill
- Beautiful woven glass fiber speakers + cloth dome tweeters

These are the best 2.0 speakers I've ever tested (And bought)

Cons: - Blue LED may annoy some
- Expensive for 2.0 speakers

Other Thoughts: I do not own the Series II, but rather, the Series I speakers. Both sets are practically identical; using the same amps, same speakers, but there are some cosmetic differences and a more energy efficient ac adapter.

Look up the Series I/original T20s if you're curious.

Oh, and the Bose Companion II's have got nothing on these speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than Bose Companion II

Pros: Looks and Sounds great! treble and bass control, headphone and aux jacks. mids and highs are crystal clear.

Cons: It would be nice if they put some notches on the knobs, it will be easier to turn and you'll know for sure that you turned it. sometimes your not quite sure if you need to grip it tighter because there is a possibility that your finger slipped, it is very smooth.

Other Thoughts: For the ones who are trying to compare this to other speakers, I also have the Bose companion II 2.0 and these are better hands down better mids, highs, and base im not saying that the companions sound awful they sound good too but these are just better and it should be because they are about an inch taller than the companions (about the same width an length) these are comparable to the AV-30 which a friend of mine owns I went with these over the AV-30 simply because of looks.
If you are looking at the T40 if would strongly suggest going for the AV-40 which I know sounds better that the T40.
I give this 5 eggs for what it is, and comparing it only to others in the same price range. I also did not go with the logitech 2.1's because of some complaints about mids and highs. with these listening to music or watching a movie on my PC the dialog is crystal clear and base is enough for me. Buy it!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the wife~

Pros: Good looks-Well built speakers
Sound is great-Bass response is good, not over bearing.
Most important-Wife is happy~

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is most probably a case of my socket reaching it's limit (Same circuit as washer), but when I hooked these up when the washing machine was running-it put the cirrcuit over the limit and flipped the breaker. Since then, I have redistributed the power needs for the entire system for safety.
I didn't realize I was that close with everything running. Hooked up the kill-a-watt meter and found 2.7W @ .5AMPS

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing quality for a good price

Pros: I own the original T20 series I, which are identical to the series II except for the color.

First of all, I went from a Logitech 2.1 system with a 5" subwoofer to these and actually noticed more bass, improved mids, and crisp highs. The sound quality at low volumes are not that good, you have to turn the volume knob at least half way to start getting into it's good range. So for me I just adjust my pc volume down and increase the T20 volume up.

Bought these at an Office Depot for $59.99 on clearance.

Cons: -Short cable length between the two speakers, but they are designed for a computer desk so not that big of a deal.

-The AC adapter is pretty big and gets hot.

-The bright blue light is a pain, so I covered it with some thick paper and scotch tape.

Other Thoughts: If you want a good speaker system that doesn't take up a lot of space, these are your best bet. I was considering the T40, but having owned these for almost 2 years I can say that they are all you'll need.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers!

Pros: -Great sound quality
-Great if you don't want a bulky subwoofer
-Very crisp sound
-Provide a good amount of bass, especially for the size of the speakers
-Sound great listening to music and playing starcraft 2

Cons: No cons that I can think of. Excellent 2.0 system.

If you are just looking for booming bass, go for a 2.1 system. I bought these because I DIDN'T want a bulky sub and something that rumbled, just good sound quality and general performance. And they sound great.

Other Thoughts: Buy them, you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: sounds great

Cons: for some reason after you turn it on, there's a solid 2 seconds of delay before sound actually starts playing, just a weird little quirk lol.
