3 out of 5 eggslasted 2 1/2 years

Pros: Great sound for the price, mostly used for watching movies, shows and playing games in my bedroom, gf would use them for music while she cleaned.

I'm pretty sad my TV speakers sound horrible :c

Cons: Died fairly quickly, was expecting at least a year more of use. Never really pushed them that far due to us living in an apt and having neighbors.

4 out of 5 eggsBest. Bang. Ever.

Pros: All the reviews regarding the subs as "filling the whole house" and warnings like "apartment dwellers beware" are true.

I live in a 700+ sq. ft 1 BR apartment and the whole place booms like an EDM club. Wait for the drop...and the 808 kicks.

I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of complaints from our downstairs/side neighbors. This is the selling point on this 2.1 set - mind blowing subs.

Another pro is that there is more surface area on my desk after I replaced my Mackies with these.

Don't mind the "short cables" complaints. Not sure what kind of desk they're using, but it's enough length for an 8 footer table.

Another pro is that the sub includes 2 aux ports to turn this into a 5.1, but don't hold me to this since I haven't really looked into it to confirm. I literally set these up about 15 minutes ago and began this review while listening to some music.

Cons: Once you've gone the studio monitors route, you tend not to look back. I've been banking my PC sound experience on studio monitors for about 10 years now.

Highs/mids are washed out - but I'm "downgrading" from a pair of BAMF Mackie MR5 MK3s due to the wife's complaint about it being big and clunky. It should be about a month or so for it to burn in so I'll wait before casting hard criticism towards this. But then again, I paid $119 for these speakers, so this minor con is justified by its price.

However, if you're coming up from something below the $200 range, these will not disappoint at all.

Other Thoughts: I'm contemplating on two things:

1. Tempt death and defy the wife; keep the Mackies and return these (although they are nice for the price range).

2. Add a sound card to my mobo to see if it'll produce crisper highs/mids.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound at a great price

Pros: Awesome sound, decent price

Cons: Some people complain about it at high volumes.. honestly if you don't want to shake the house it's a great room filling sound.. The cords could be longer thats really my only complaint

1 out of 5 eggsGAMERS BEWARE!

Pros: I typically love Logitech products. However, these 2.1 THX Certified Speakers are HORRIBLE when it comes to games. These speakers have no issues with the following...
1. Movies - VLC, Windows Media Player, PowerDVD
2. Games - Starcraft
3. Internet - YouTube

Cons: HOWEVER, when playing games on Steam...the speakers CONSTANTLY, SNAP, CRACKLE and POP.

1. Batman Arkham Origins

Only game I am currently running on Steam, so I could not test others. Also, if you google these speakers it is a pretty common problem. I should have done more research.

As soon as I go into playing this game there is constant distortion all throughout gameplay...Very annoying!!!

Paying $120+ for a product that does NOT provide good sound quality...does not seem worth my time or yours!

All drivers on my computer are up to date. I tried tweaking all the Audio options in the Control Panel and in the game itself. Nothing made a difference.

System Specs
1. MOBO - Asus Maximus Formula VI
2. i7-4770K
3. Radeon R9 290x - X2
4. SSD and HDD
5. 32GB Corsair Vengeance

Other Thoughts: Spend your money on a different product...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat speaker set, very short cables

Pros: This is a very solid set of speakers. Unless you are an audiophile, these work great for desktop music and gaming. They won't be as awesome as a solid surround sound system, but good surround sound is surprisingly tricky to set up and really only marginally better whereas these are plug-and-play.

Cons: The cables are WAY too short. The cables are only about 6 feet long. You should keep speaker equipment, no matter how well-shielded, far away from other computer equipment. For me, that means the subwoofer sits on the other side of a 5.5 foot desk. Then the distance to the on-board audio on the motherboard is another few inches and the distance to the subwoofer is a couple more. In other words, I'm currently straining an audio cable to just barely make this work and I'll be buying a longer cable on Newegg shortly. The other cable to the right speaker is also not perfectly relaxed due to the size of my desk...and my desk is pretty small compared to a lot of desks out there! Even if I put the subwoofer on the other side of the desk and next to the computer, the left speaker cable would be too short and it seems flimsy compared to the right cable. Logitech needs to add 2-3 feet of cable to ALL of the cables in this speaker set. Cabling is one area that shouldn't ever be skimped on.

Other Thoughts: I own the Logitech Z5500, the Logitech X140, and now the Z623 speaker sets. The Z5500 is the best 5.1 computer speaker set I've used in terms of audio quality. The X140 has laughable audio. The Z623 is similar to the Z5500 in terms of audio quality but doesn't produce as rich a sound. The materials of the Z623 feel like they are of slightly lower quality than the Z5500, which seems to be in line with the general consensus of this model. RMS wattage, frequency response, and quality materials in construction all seem to matter when it comes to reproducing audio.

5 out of 5 eggsDesktop speakers

Pros: Great speakers. If you like some bass sounding music or some of that explosive sound during an action movie, you must look into these speakers. Even though they are only 2.1, they still make a living room sound like there is surround sound. Great that you can have multiple aux jacks, one on the speaker that goes on your desk, and another extra on the side of the sub.

Cons: None, just great build quality and sound is amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome speaker

Pros: Awesome speaker, nuff said.
The bass makes my whole table trembles lol.

Cons: The sharp edges on the subwoofer are sooo sharp that when I accidentally knocked my feet onto it, my feet bleeds cos its that sharp..
And now I have like 5+ bruises from it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers

Pros: Great loud sound
Great bass, like shake your house and anger off your neighbors bass
Good highs, they could be better and clearer at higher volumes
It's a room filling 2.1 system

Cons: White noise at high volumes when no sound is playing
cords could be longer, but they fit on my computer desk
Volume and bass at 100% causes the speakers and sub-woofer to give off a burning smell and might smoke a little bit, but I will say that you don't need them that loud at 50% these speakers will fill a house with sound.

Other Thoughts: I love this speaker system, although I will state I have not owned another. I've had my speaker system for over 2 years, almost 3 in fact. I don't even want to look for another speaker system, plays music and game sounds very well. Has pretty good room filling presence. These are 100% worth the price tag, and they even go on sale a lot. Completely happy. I know a 5 star review probably isn't warranted with all the cons I listed, but those cons don't matter to me.

3 out of 5 eggsGood sound till it breaks.

Pros: Worked great, sounded great until my left speaker stopped working.

Cons: Left speaker stopped working due to the female plugin being loose. Happened less than 6 months after purchase, very disappointing this was the only item I didn't buy an extended warranty for, I guess I know now.

1 out of 5 eggsZ623

Pros: Decent Bass
Bass Control, Volume Control, and Power Button on Satellites instead of using Control Pod

Cons: -Fuzzy/Hissing sound when tuned the volume at 50% or higher
-Volume Speaker sounds awfully too low even at volume 40% or more.
-Requires too much wattage to raise the bass!
-Subwoofer is enormously big to some users who live in small dorm room for college
-Audio Sound Quality sounds as worse as Z523 & Z323 Speaker System
-Too prohibitive with terrible sound quality even without Dedicated Sound Card

Other Thoughts: Don't buy Z623, Z523, or Z323 Speaker System. All three speaker systems that Logitech want to sell are useless! Go with Logitech Z313 2.1 Speaker System. I've bought Z313 speaker system back in 2009 and it still sounds much much cleaner and louder than Z623,m Z523, and Z323 Speakers!

No Sound Card is needed unless you purchased Corsair SP2500 Speaker system and you'll also need Dedicated Sound Card to convert Digital to Analog signal without compromising Audio Quality, especially for those guys who are working on Audiophile work. Overall, I highly recommend Z313 with reasonable pricing, performance, and reliability!
