4 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: Great quality for the price, not the best, but in its price range, its pretty good. It picks up my voice pretty well from 2-3 feet away.

Cons: Its a little bit big, but if that is what it takes to get the nice quality out of it, then so be it. Mic itself is about the size of a softball, stand is about 6 inches tall. Its not wireless, and the massived sized (diameter) cord is a little bulky but still plenty flexible.

Other Thoughts: I should have made the next step up, but I am very happy with this purchase, recorded hours and hours with this mic and I see no problems with it yet.

1 out of 5 eggsVolume Issue, No response from BLUE customer support... :(

Pros: Looks great. Heavy and sturdy. Blue Brand name (First Blue Mic)

Cons: Unfortunately this is a big issue if you search the internet, not all of the microphones have proper gain. Some require a firmware update and some just have low volume. It's hit or miss. Just do a search and you will see. I didn't realize there was an issue until I googled to see if I could fix the volume. This is not opinion, this Snowball really cannot be used and no adjustment can fix the volume issue.

The worst part is that BLUE never replied to my issue. I wrote them 3 days ago and this is just unsatisfactory customer support. I don't mind the issue here and there if they will fix it however what I do mind is a company that doesn't reply to their customers concerns. (I contacted them on their website and gave my phone number, email address and checked spam folders.)

After looking at other reviews you will notice other people have the same issues. 1.) low volume on many microphones, and worst of all 2.) Blue customer support doesn't reply to their customers... Unsat.

Other Thoughts: I like the look of the mic and the feel. The volume cannot be used I do podcasts and live streams professionally. I'm much more disappointed that a big name like BLUE doesn't reply to customer issues. This is not the first review like this. Please look at others, maybe it will give BLUE incentive to start paying attention to support instead of only sales.

2 out of 5 eggsDriver conflict causing headaches - any ideas?

Pros: Beautiful, clear-sounding, somewhat-adjustable microphone.

Cons: Does NOT work on my computer (Win7 SP1 64-bit). It does work on my laptop, also Win7 SP1 64-bit. I think it has to do with my motherboard. The motherboard (which I purchased in June 2011) and related drivers seem to only want audio input from the mini audio jack. My laptop has no such jack and this USB mic works great for it, in fact I plugged it in and it recognized it immediately (but I bought this to use with my desktop tower, so I'm not happy since I can't get it to work). The Blue Company seems to have no support mechanism. So I resorted to old standby geek tasks. I've deleted old drivers, downloaded a full, fresh set from Gigabyte's website, rebooted the system and still nothing. Very, very frustrating. This is also happening to my Logitech webcam. The camera part works, but the microphone is not recognized by the system. And Logitech tried to help, but once they learned that the camera worked on the laptop, they politely told me work it out with other vendors.

Other Thoughts: I'm posting here because the NewEgg community often has great insight into tech problems like this. I'm open to suggestions and I really don't want to return this because I already know the mic works, just not on the intended machine.

2 out of 5 eggsWatch out.....

Pros: When it worked, the sound quality was stunning. I was able to use it for short documentary movies as well as several video game reviews. Paired with a filter the sound required almost no editing beyond cutting and pasting in final cut. More than surprised at how good this USB microphone is.

Cons: after 13 months, I plugged it in one day. and nothing. Absolutely nothing. 1 year warranty support expired, I'm now stuck with something less functional than an actual snowball.
The stand was always bad, the telescoping rod was warped right out of the box, and the mic always got loose on the stand.

Other Thoughts: The sound of this mic is great, but I just hate it when electronics die just after the 1 year mark. Now I'm left without a good portable microphone, and on a budget it's going to be a while before I replace....

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Decent Audio Quality
-Easy Setup
-Good entry level mic

Cons: - Big, if you don't have a big desk you'll find yourself disconnecting it all the time to get it out of the way.
-Picks up quite a bit of ambient noise, if you have a loud environment then this mic will not be for you, while its much better then your run of the mill microphone, its not what you'd expect
-Quiet compared to some other USB Stuido quality microphones at a distance

Other Thoughts: For the price, its a great microphone, but if you bought it with the intention of having a microphone thats able to pick up your voice clearly from more then 2-3 inches away and not pick up a lot of background noise, then this microphone is not for you. I'd suggest picking up an MXL for a few bucks more.

5 out of 5 eggsBest sounding USB Mic

Pros: The Snowball mic is the best USB model that I have ever used. Easy to set up, with three modes to select from depending on what type of recording you want to do. Stand is solid and high quality. Mic can pivot up / down and stand height can be adjusted.

Cons: It is much bigger than the pictures make it seem. Need lots of desk space for it.

Other Thoughts: Probably want to get a pop filter to put in front of this. Sounds incredible, but need to be close for voiceover audio. Easy to setup in Windows 7. Just go into control panel audio device settings and adjust your input level volume. No drivers needed. Tested this with Adobe Soundbooth with great results.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with Windows 7 64-bit

Pros: Makes great sounding voice recordings.

Cons: Will only work when plugged into a computer USB port.

Other Thoughts: I bought elsewhere. It wasn't clear to me when I bought it that it would work with Windows 7 64-bit and it works perfectly on my computer. An impressive microphone.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't expect more

Pros: Great microphone. I use Skype all the time and this mic is incredible, people can hear me from across the room. I also need a good mic for recording vocals for my music project, and so far I really couldn't ask for more.

Something should also be said for their customer service: I have had this mic for two years, and when I went to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7, the old drivers wouldn't work. Blue has all the drivers in the actual hardware so there isn't a patch or download solution. I contacted them and they sent me a brand new one, even after I was well over warranty.

Cons: Looks hysterical on my desk.
