3 out of 5 eggsGreat for mobility

Pros: Compact, USB powered.

Cons: Slow (expected) and not suitable for all media (expected). The bundled software puts itself into the Startup menu every time you run the software, which is annoying. Very few people need loading scanning software at startup.

Other Thoughts: Great product if you need mobility. Otherwise, I would suggest sticking to a flatbed scanner or a multifunction.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very small, USB powered. Very portable. Perfect for quick scans.

Cons: Has some trouble with pages that were folded (like bills in the mail). You have to help those along to make sure they don't feed sideways.

Other Thoughts: You have to install the driver from the CD or website, even for Windows 7. You don't have to use the software - Windows Scan & Fax works just fine - but then you have to convert to PDF yourself, if that's what you need.

4 out of 5 eggsvery handy and a solid performer

Pros: easy to carry, runs on usb power, good document scans, good software. small foot print.

Cons: sometimes the usb cable will disconnect even though it is still plugged in.

Other Thoughts: I use this scanner all the time, it is small and light, the software allows to scan multiple documents into one pdf file.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Nice!

Pros: Lightweight, quiet, uses only 1 USB port, does legal size, high quality photo scans.

Cons: It's not as fast as the Kodak! OK, nothing that I can think of in this price/size range.

Other Thoughts: This is a replacement for a Mustek S40. I couldn't get the Mustek drivers to install on my computer for some reason (I suspect it had something to do with the Mustek requiring two USB ports), so I sent it back and paid the extra cash to get the Brother DSM 600. GREAT decision! This scanner is lighter than the Mustek, uses only 1 USB port, comes with a nicer carry bag, is quiet, and it doesn't attract fingerprints! Oh yeah, so far the scans have turned out really nice too. I even scanned a color photo magazine page and it came out beautiful. I'd say this is a winner if you want a portable mobile document scanner.
