2 out of 5 eggsOnly works with WEP not WPK

Pros: Cheap if you only need WEP encryption.

Cons: Only works with WEP even though it was advertised to work with WPA. Had to pay a restock fee to return it and also pay for shipping.

Other Thoughts: I installed this on a Win XP Dell Laptop and all seemed to go well. Then I tried to connect to our wireless network. There did not appear to be any way to set up for WPA-PSK with a passphrase. Downloaded latest driver, still no go. I returned the product and got the D-Link instead. Connected right away and didn't have to do any special configuratio to make it work.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes The Job

Pros: Finds and connects to access points without issue.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: Works fine with my Thinkpad T30. I use it mostly at public access points, it has no trouble finding and connecting to them.

4 out of 5 eggsSo-so

Pros: Good signal strength, reasonably low power consumption. Extra security support is good for those who use many different types of wireless networks. I need LEAP to get onto the networks at the university.

Cons: Linksys install is weird and long. Also, the Linksys Wireless Configuration Utility is pretty unreliable. It drops the signal after a while. Using the Windows utility, though, signal is consistent.

5 out of 5 eggsDual Band no Tri-Band

Pros: 802.11A band is 5 Ghz and B/G run at 2.4 GHz but at different rates: 6.5 Mbit/s and 24 Mbit/s.
So dual band is an accurate title/description for this product.

Cons: None, except Linux drivers are dodgy.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent card, great service (as always)

Pros: No hitch install, everything very intuitive. Card has a decent range, and is reliable.

Cons: Packaged software is a bit slow to respond at times, but it is more user friendly than windows native wireless comm. utility.

Works great out of the box. Just load, plug and play. I use this at home with the LINKSYS 54Mbps Access Point, Model WAP54G connected to my Linksys Cable/DSL Router. I get a good connection throughout the entire house. Great service! Great product! No problems!

5 out of 5 eggsVersatile dependability...

Comments: I originally bought this PCMCIA card along with the Linksys Dual Band (really Tri-Band) router and PCI card when setting up my wireless network a little less than a year ago. The WPC55AG PCMCIA card has proven to be a real trooper. It works flawlessly on my home network and it's also become an indispensable travel tool. Being able to use any available wireless network, regardless of band, is a real lifesaver. The card itself has been problem free, which I wish I could say for the router and PCI cards. I highly recommend the WPC55AG.
