5 out of 5 eggs4 years of protection and still going

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: I built this PC in 2009, by 2011 the memory had fried. As part of my diagnostics I discovered that my house has a bit of dirty power, finally I knew why cable modems kept dying on me.

Anyway, I replaced the memory, bought this unit, and my PC is still running like new without any signs of degradation. Since the beginning I hear a relay or switch flip over a few times a week during minor power events, a reminder of the unseen hardware killer and my steadfast protector.

Performance in an outage is as you'd expect. A clear but not constant alarm, just enough to make you investigate, like a smoke detector in need of a new battery. It'll give you a few minutes (time displayed on screen) to save your work and shut down, although it will protect your sleeping computer for over 10 hours. I once muted it because I was tired and didn't want to wait for my PC to wake up. In the morning, with the power still out, there was still more than enough battery for a proper shutdown.

I have yet to encounter any failures, breakages, or quality issues and approx. battery life during outages is still the same.

Cons: Like someone else said, it won't host odd connectors without obstructing other slots. But they're not too crowded for standard stuff, and a power strip can take care of any issues. Just don't connect more devices than the unit can supply. Not enough for me to take an egg.

Other Thoughts: Be smart with your battery vs surge slots. Only keep your computer, monitor, and necessary peripherals (like external hdd) on battery to limit battery drain. But do make use of the surge slots to protect things like cable modems and other delicate devices.

5 out of 5 eggsAPC Has gotten much better

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: I've been using APC for years, and not because they were a good brand, but because they were really the only choice. However, against the industry standard of middle-fingering the customer because you have all the power, they have have improved greatly on their products. This, as well as the 1500, have been running flawlessly in my office and now at home for years. No failures, no battery replacements. The software is decent and I don't feel like I'm wasting mine or the company's money anymore.

Cons: Actually, none.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what its supposed to

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: Nice UPS for the price range. 2 batteries, no fluff, just works.

Cons: no way (that I have found ) to have the led panel stay on. Power chute software a bit bloated. USB only, no management nic like its big brother units.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible UPS

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: Compact
Not too heavy

Cons: Regularly fails to re-charge battery
Sub par monitoring software
Frequent failures

Other Thoughts: I've had this UPS for a little over a year when it failed. Called APC and after a short troubleshooting sessions, which did not reveal the cause, I was sent a replacement unit. The replacement unit was up for about 12 hours when it too failed. This time there is an error code (F06). This just happened about an hour ago so I have yet to call APC back. I am sure they will send me another unit but at this point I have zero confidence in their product.

It is time to give another manufacturer a try.

5 out of 5 eggsReally Pleased

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: On Demand views of things like incoming voltage & load on battery. Its very much a plus that it does the voltage regulation with how the winter weather has been affecting levels of local supply voltages etc.

Cons: The only beef I have with it compared to what it is replacing (apc ls-700). It does not make any extra room for odd-shaped adapters the way my ls-700 did and that's left one outlet unusable in my case. Still, have everything I need going through it and otherwise, very happy with it.

Other Thoughts: I'd have been tempted to design it a bit wider at the bottom, just to give it a little larger footprint there .. which may have also allowed for bulky adapters to be used on either side without affecting the other outlets. But, I had seen the images before getting this so, can't complain too much I guess.

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: Has 8 outlets. Works when the power goes out. Have it supporting our Business Phone System. Keeps it running for hours after the power drops. Protects from Surges and Brownouts. Nice sturdy design.

Cons: Not all outlets are on battery BU but that is to be expected.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat UPS

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: I have had this product for over a year and a half now and it has been wonderful. I have ran this thing for countless hours and it is still going strong like the first day I bought it. It has survived numerous power outages and saved my PC countless times from crashing after these outages. The battery is quite powerful, I was able to play League of Legends for 30 min with high quality graphics until I had to get off.

Cons: Someone mentioned on here that you cannot turn off the LED back light on the buttons. No, you cannot, but it's not that big of a deal, not worth deducting any eggs. Plus it can easy be covered up at night with something. They are extremely bright though if not covered up. On the upside, they can act as a nightlight if you need one!

Other Thoughts: Great deal for this UPS. If you are in a power outage prone area, then this is a great investment. Help protect your electronics for only $120!

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice UPS

This review is from: APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G 1000VA 600W 8 Outlets Power-saving Back-UPS

Pros: I've had this UPS for a couple of years now and believe me a good quality UPS is worth every penny. It supplies clean power to my computer and with my LCD monitor and 5.1 surround connected to the battery covered outlets it will run my entire system for about 30 minutes which is more than enough for me if the power goes out. I like the size/format as well, much sleeker than my old APC UPS which was massive, I also like the LCD readout and the different types of info it will give you. I especially like how it tells you how many watts you're system is pulling.

Cons: Not enough to deduct an egg but there is no way to turn off the white LED backlights for the 3 main buttons. You can turn the LCD off and mute the system beeping but you cannot turn off the lights (for those that don't like LED lights on when you're trying to sleep), although this can be easily remedied with stickers or something else to cover the lights.

Other Thoughts: If you're a gamer/overclocker I would highly recommend a UPS to everybody, very reliable and clean power to your system so you're not relying on a cheap surge protector or heaven forbid directly into your wall outlet.
