4 out of 5 eggsShreddin' like a boss

Pros: This thing shreds like a boss and if you own it you will too. Cross cuts like crazy and credit cards are no match for it. Keep it oiled so the blades keep moving and it will continue to show you shredding love for years.

Cons: It doesn't make fries. That shredder would be the bomb.

Other Thoughts: It's not a 500 dollar model and it wasn't 30 bucks either. It works like a 75 dollar shredder should.

5 out of 5 eggsGood shreader

Pros: Makes very small pieces or bits out of paper, credit cards, old drivers license etc. Runs for awhile after each job, I guess to clean out leftover bits.

Cons: Loud but effective. Works OK with 7-8 sheets of paper at 1 time but I wouldn't do 11 sheets at a time too often.

Other Thoughts: Good size solid bucket to catch all of the paper bits, solid heavy shreader section with locking feature to help keep little kids fingers out of harms way. Overall good stuff & yes I would recommend it to all of my friend. ;)

4 out of 5 eggsA cut above

Pros: Easily shred most junk mail without opening it, just feed it to the machine. big bin for big shredding jobs when file cleaning season opens. turns pape into "snow." Decent run time without over heating. definitely not a light wieght shredder.

Cons: loud. Cannot EASILY do 11 sheets like advertised.

Other Thoughts: For the price, i find it to be a very adaquate shredder. Easily hands my junk mail and personal files. I really had to push it to jam it up.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: works as advertised. good cross-cut. reverse switch when it chokes on bank statements.

Cons: chokes on bank statements. says 11 pages per pass, so this is really not a con...it's not going to chew through Optimus Prime and i knew this when i bought it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little soho shredder

Pros: Inexpensive and it works. There is a safety lock switch you need to disarm before you can use it. It handles several sheets of paper at once.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've used it lightly but its been fine so far. I have not tried it with staples or credit cards yet.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Shredder

Pros: Shreds junk mail all day long. It does sound like it's slowing down a bit, but that's normal and it isn't really struggling. It will easily chew up pages to the stated maximum.

Cons: 1, Shredder engineers don't appear to understand basic physics. The shredder is top heavy and the bottom of the waste basket is more narrow. It can be easily tipped over.

2, one of the shredding teeth inside was bent around when I opened the box. It is a small defect and doesn't appear to affect operation. Just struck me as odd.

If it wasn't for those two things I would have given it 5 stars.

4 out of 5 eggsFellowes makes it right

Pros: Works well, new model is quieter than the old version

Cons: First unit totally failed in 13 months

Other Thoughts: I had this shredder break on me after 13 months and wrote about it in a review with a promise to update based on how Fellowes responded to my request for customer service. Fellowes quickly and pleasantly replaced the shredder at no cost, and the new one has a big "Rev A" sticker on it the old one didn't have. (Sticker is located on the underside of the cutterhead unit). The new cutterhead fits the plastic bucket properly (unlike the old one) and runs quieter. Given what I would call excellent customer service, I will buy Fellowes again and wouldn't worry too much about buying this model--especially given Fellowes willingness to fix my problem outside the warranty period.

4 out of 5 eggsHeavy and durable, but noisy

Pros: Unlike the cheap strip-cut shredders, which use thin serrated metal cutting discs, this cross-cut uses what can only be described as a thick, solid cylinder of spiky metal. It's heavy and chews through about 10 pages of junk mail. The shredded pieces are smaller than I expected.

Cons: It's loud, and it seems to significantly slow down when attacking piles of 8+ pieces of paper (or 3 christmas cards).

Other Thoughts: Don't consider any shredder cheaper than this. If you have whole file cabinets of stuff to shred, I have little doubt that this will suit---just keep it lubricated.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: When it worked, it shredded fine.

Cons: The shredder head never fit the plastic bucket right, which meant the safety was only active when it was installed at a funky angle. But it worked. Drove my wife nuts, and I took a lot of grief over it. Today, after 13 months of ownership, the switch (reverse, off, shred) completely failed. $69 bucks...$5.30 per month of ownership...I suggest you look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: I have emailed Fellowes to ask for help. I will update this if I get a good response from them.

3 out of 5 eggsMeat grinder or Paper shredder?!

Pros: Small size, shreds paper, heavy so it won't knock over easily

Cons: LOOOOOUUUUUUUUDDDDD!!!! Sounds like the combination of a shop-vac and a meat grinder.

Other Thoughts: The product works. It does what it needs to. Definitely not for a quieter environment, like a cubicle office. If you don't mind a decently high noise level, then by all means, go for it. If you are looking for a shredder which is quiet, this is NOT for you.
