1 out of 5 eggsbattery sucks

Pros: Light weight, good resolution

Cons: touch screen is a little iffy, but not required to funtion the main issue is the battery.

The specs stated it had a 25 hour battery life, but after charging it all night . It only lasted about 5 hours with the volume on the 3rd lowest setting while using generic headphones

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: • Has a camera
• For being a resistive touch screen it's surprisingly responsive and accurate.

Cons: • Battery life - went dead from a full charge in about two and a half hours of playing music.
• File sorting - forget about any logical song categorization. You're limited to artist, genre or album. If you're like me and have various folders with different music files in them (eg. rock, trance, etc etc...) you can forget about it, this mp3 player doesn't recognize folders or play the contents of folders.
• No hold feature. Tried using it at work and constantly had it pressing buttons in my pocket. Was quite frustrating.
• No intuitive file seeking.

Worse of all:
• No warranty. It lists a warranty, but don't be fooled they apparently don't want to accept returns. Be prepared to either waste the money or have fight to try and return the item.

Other Thoughts: I don't appreciate being sold a glorified paper weight and the no-refunds deal is not acceptable.

Buyer beware, don't be conned by this piece of plastic junk.

1 out of 5 eggsNot very good

Pros: Plays music, camera works for stills and video, internal speakers make noise, FLAC support (ish).

Cons: Touch screen is difficult to use and doesn't support gestures.
Requires much more pressure to register than you would think, I doubt it will function for long.
FLAC support is minimal, doesn't catagorize FLAC files my tags like the MP3s.
Internal Speakers are absolute garbage.
Volume Control has ~20 settings, 1.Mute 2.Loud 3.Very Loud 4-20.Too Loud.
At max Volume my earbuds were louder than its internal speakers at the same distance.
Camera's shutter button is the power button (Why?) took me forever to figure that out.
EQ has no discernible effect on the audio.
Radio is severely limited, I had a $30 player from ~5 years back that STILL has better reception than this thing.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because of the FLAC support and the storage capacity. I wasn't expecting much and it still managed to disappoint. I can't think of any reason to recommend this to anyone. I read the other reviews after I had already placed the order and should have cancelled it. Don't Buy This!

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware of COBY!!!

Pros: None to speak or write of. I truly have nothing positive to say about this piece of electronics. And I use the term "electronics" very loosely. Not even heavy enough to be a paper weight, so this was a complete loss.

Cons: I gave it one egg because zero eggs was not an option. The touch screen is off a bit, even after calibration. The device constantly crashes, it hasn't made it through a complete song once. Finally , the included software crashes my computer every time I try to convert video files. (WinAvi works fine although the device can't playback a converted video without crashing) And this is all after software updates from COBY and device firmware updates.

Other Thoughts: I have been a customer of NewEgg for years and I have never had a more unpleasant experience. This is the second COBY video mp3 player that I have purchased. The first one worked for a month and then the sound crapped out, this one won't even play files without crashing. COBY makes cheap devices and you get what you pay for. So I lose about a hundred bucks, and COBY loses a customer for life. Moral: Avoid COBY like the plague...and get an ipod....or a smartphone, they play videos and music too

4 out of 5 eggsCoby MP3 8GB

Pros: I bought two for my nephews. They loved them and had no difficulties in using them. They are ages 8 and 12. It was the hit of Christmas for them. It is very easy to load music on. I just plugged in them into my laptop and loaded via My Computer with the supplied cable.

Cons: The touch screen can be a bit difficult to use, but they didnt have any issue adapting to using them.

Other Thoughts: Cheaper than a iPod, maybe not as cool, but a great bang for the buck.

2 out of 5 eggsThe budget iPod wannabe

Pros: Cheap. Small, very light, hard to accidentally skip songs in case one is on the go or doing physical activity while listening to it. Comes with a sleeve to prevent damage or dirtiness to the player. Has a digital camera included with it with decent picture taking capability and digital video recording. The dv recording is pretty decent quality. In the event of not having headphones, there is a speaker located on the player (apparently on the inside near the screen), though the speaker is cheap and won't give you very good quality playback. Expansion slot in the form of micro sd slot.

Cons: Oh, where to start. First off, the default volume for this player is loud. On the lowest available volume without muting the player entirely, it matches up to about 10 out of 25 on a Sony Walkman 8gb player. There is no equalizer or any available options to affect the sound of your audio. The interface is quite finger-unfriendly, and even after calibrating the touch screen several times, I ended up needing to use a pen/headphone jack to select any of the options. Using the available buttons to make your selection results in a loud beep that cannot be disabled in the user settings (unless audio is playing.) User settings are choked and unhelpful. Needless functions (who even needs a textpad application on an mp3 player?) and an overall ugly presentation.

Other Thoughts: I don't get what Coby was trying to achieve with this. It makes a great present for kids that want an iPod but don't know what it really is, I guess. If you wanna do that to a kid. With no volume lock, however, I wouldn't expose this to any kid under the age of 12, and I'd hope by then they'd be able to tell a budget knockoff from the real product. Bought this as a black friday gamble. Probably should have bought a blender instead.
