GARMIN StreetPilot c340 3.5" GPS Navigation

ICON Loading...

The StreetPilot c340 provides in-car navigation that is simple for anyone to use directly out of the box. After selecting a destination from the user-friendly touch screen interface, Garmin's text-to-speech feature tells users the name of the street, when to turn, and in what direction. If you miss your turn, the c340 automatically calculates a new route to the destination. Notification of traffic delays is a c340 option that lets drivers see congested areas via a color-coded map. This feature lets users avoid traffic by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route. This traffic awareness is made possible via the new Garmin GTM 10 FM TMC receiver that connects to selected Garmin street navigation products. The GTM 10 receives digital data from specific FM broadcast stations in select major metro areas throughout the United States and Europe.

Garmin has also added the ability for customers to augment the preloaded maps with custom POI's from industry-standard CSV files, such as school zones and safety cameras. In addition, a proximity alert feature is included to optionally notify the driver of upcoming custom POI's. The StreetPilot c340 comes preloaded with highly detailed City Select NT street data of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The database features nearly six million points of interest - including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions.

The StreetPilot c340 joins Garmin's growing line of automotive GPS navigators. It has a bright, 3.5-inch diagonal, TFT display with touchscreen; dual integrated speakers for high-quality voice prompts; and an internal lithium-ion battery for out-of-car route planning. The StreetPilot c-series boasts distinctive and sleek styling - the units' only buttons are a rotary volume knob and an on/off switch. The device is secured by a suction-mount cradle that fastens to the windshield, for easy portability between vehicles.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little gps unit

Pros: Gets you where you wanna go without much fuss. Voice guidance is great. Great function for value

Cons: Sometimes doesn't tell you quick enough that a turn is right upon you. Searching for destinations can sometimes take a little time but its no big deal really.

Other Thoughts: Can't beat the value of this thing.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent GPS

Pros: Excellent price for a mid-grade GPS. Voice, location saves, quick response, long battery life, and updates every year for new maps make this a great buy.

Cons: Paying for new maps?

Other Thoughts: Get this if you need a GPS!

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Well, I had purchased one of these over a year ago and I just purchased another from newegg here for my sister who is moving away. It was great and I was so glad to see it at a great price here that I had to get it for her. It's a great little device. If you don't want to suction it to your window, the little base actually fits nice in a cup holder, well it fits in mine nice. The charge holds for a long time and with the new updates it finds a signal pretty quickly. Just plug into your computer and you are all set.

Cons: If you know the area you are driving in really well, you can get a little annoyed as it can take you on a weird route, but otherwise, if you don't know where the heck you are going it is really great. You have to get used to how it handles traffic circles, but it will be easy to look at the screen to see where the arrow is taking you.

3 out of 5 eggsThe mount sucks!!!!

Pros: It takes me everywhere!!! I just moved to the NY area and this little device has giving me an edge when I want to go \ places!!! Good and unexpensive!!! this is my first time using a gps, and it is esay to use. I love the fact that I can avoid tolls...specially here in NY where tolls are an arm and a leg...!!!!

Cons: there is one thing that I dont like. it is the car mount, the bottom piece would not stay stucked to the sticky pad..!! so I have to fix it everytime I want to use my car.(Maybe I messed it up myself) but that gets annoying very fast. but thats it!!! one more thing the device is kind of bulky but it was cheap when I bought it!!!!

Other Thoughts: Newegg has not let me down!!! their package and handleing is alwas great!!! thanks!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Machine!

Pros: Great little device and very easy to use. I was able to find almost any place of business by just spelling out the name without knowing the actual location address. This came in handy when I wasn't able to look up addresses on the road. Fast to recalculate and reliable.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Perfect and simple to use. Just moved to SF Bay area from midwest and this unit is a lifesaver. Would recommend it to anyone looking for and affordable and reliable GPS unit. Ability to take with you on trips and in diffrerent cars is great.

Cons: The system is a liitle partial to putting you on the freeways out here even when a side road would be just as fast. Oh well as long as it get me where I need to go.

Other Thoughts: Getting a second one for my wife when she moves here in a month.

3 out of 5 eggsBulky but good for the price

Pros: Says the names of the streets and destinations, and pronounces them well. Touchscreen is very viewable and easy to use. Relatively low cost compared to other models that have these features. The suction mount is very functional. Garmin - what else is there to say? Great company, great GPS data.

Cons: Bulky. Only one voice that reads the street and destination names (the others only speak the directions). Must use the suction mount to charge the device in-car. Does not give turn alerts soon enough, both in the city and on the highway. Not customizable enough - too simplified. No way to enter a lat/lon location (that I can tell).

Other Thoughts: I was used to my older Garmin Legend-C that had full routing capabilities but only made alert sounds and was not easy to see while driving. This device improved both of those conditions, but left me wanting in true usability.

This GPS does not give the turn alerts soon enough. It waits until you are nearly upon the turn or exit, and that is often too late to safely execute the maneuver. It would be better if it gave a 1-minute warning and then a 20-30 second warning like my Legend-C does. If you don't watch the screen and listen carefully, it's easy to go past your turn. I think your primary responsibility should be driving, not watching a screen.

I don't like the fact that the only way to charge this device in the car is to attach it to the suction mount. You can't plug the power cord directly into the unit.

Finally, this GPS does not fit easily into glove boxes or purses - it's the size of a small grapefruit.

Bottom line- not satisfied.

1 out of 5 eggsdon make this mistake

Pros: Easy to use.

Cons: 1. Maps are too old, I live in the Washington DC area, and I suppose that the streets are very old and they should appear on it, I drive in a very famous rout that has allot of intersections, these crossing roads are also old because the houses and business on them are old, allot of those major roads doesn’t show up on this system as if this rout is in the desert. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A GBS IS THE MAP, if the map is bad then the hall system is bad. cuz if you cant reach the destination u want with the best rout and time to it, then all the extra features mean nothing.

2. In addition to the above point, it doesn’t show major streets, but amazingly it shows very small ones, it writes the name of the side roads on the screen randomly.

3. Battery level in the system is an issue, because it doesn’t show the condition of the battery on the screen accept while starting or shutting off the system, the car charger doesn’t have a LED to show its connected which is a major issue, cu

Other Thoughts: I used my friend’s TOMTOM GPS, and its way better than this, and it has free maps update, don’t make my mistake and go for TOMTOM

4 out of 5 eggsWord

Pros: Pretty Accurate, lets you know estimated arrival time that updates along the way, moving time/stopping time. Average mph on the trip.

Cons: not small enough to fit into a sunglasses sized compartment

Other Thoughts: one hundred bone cheaper than at circuit city

5 out of 5 eggsGreat GPS Unit

Pros: Best mapping GPS unit I've seen. It has a very friendly user interface which is very appreciated while driving. I got this as a Christmas present and use it nearly every day. I love this thing! The POI's are great too, it's a great way to learn a new city!

Cons: Like others have mentioned, it doesn't have roads that are recently built. I hope updated maps are on the way.

Other Thoughts: My brother has been through 2 gps units that were horrible compared to my Garmin. They had busy interfaces and way too many cluttered and confusing options. Garmin is the way to go!
