With the Garmin Oregon 450t you can really get in touch with nature. This next-generation handheld features a high-sensitivity, WAAS-enabled GPS receiver and HotFix satellite prediction to locate your position quickly and precisely and maintain its GPS location even in heavy cover and deep canyons.

Featuring a sunlight-readable 3" touchscreen, the Garmin Oregon 450t allows you to navigate effortlessly with your fingertip, and the easy-to-use interface ensures simple, convenient operation as well as improved efficiency. With the preloaded U.S. topographic maps and a built-in worldwide basemap with shaded relief, you get all the tools for serious climbing or hiking. In addition, you can insert a microSD card with detailed street maps to enjoy turn-by-turn directions to your destination, and you can add select topographic maps to take advantage of Oregon’s 3-D map view which gives you a better perspective of your elevation.

The Garmin Oregon 450t supports Geocaching.com GPX files for downloading geocaches and details straight to your unit, so it can store and display key information, including location, terrain, difficulty, hints and descriptions. You can also get a detailed analysis of your activities and send tracks to your outdoor device using Garmin Connect site, which offers an activity table, allows you to view your activities on a map using Google Earth and to explore other routes uploaded by millions of Garmin Connect users. Tramper 8/31/2010 12:51:00 PM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 1/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 5/5Does what it says it does Pros: The standard map is good enough for me but you can buy the HD map for about $100US. 450t does map you where you are and you can watch as the line it prints on the screen moves with you. The map zoom in and out so I can get a good ref. to my car/trail head. Holds good signal strength which my old Garmin 101 didn't do. Cons: The elevation is through the barometer pressure senor not the GPS. But I did find it very accurate when I climbed Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, it read dead on after 5 hours of climbing. The clearing of old tracks is a little too much button pushing but once you learn where to clear the tracks it become second nature. You cannot push the any buttons with gloves on, you mush uses your warm figure. Other Thoughts: Over all I would say this is a great GPS for highly tech-O types. I download all my walks into a program on my computer to map out where, how long, altitude climb; etc. For the price you want to uses all the balls and whistles but you can also just buy the cheaper Garmin GPS that will do just as good if you don't need all gee-whiz stuff. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.
