4 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: For the money, I don't know if you'll find a better everyday kind of tablet. It is fast, has the real Google Play store. Very responsive.

Cons: It randomly reboots. As with any computer, you randomly get programs that don't work right or have to be restarted. It also gets hot when charging. But mostly I can deal with this stuff. The real failure is in the adverts for a 3g stick. First off, you can only use the proprietary stick. Second off, the 3g stick is only available for certain frequencies. So if you do manage to find one, you'll find that it will only connect to the the Edge network for ATT. The 3g is really advertised for Europe. Another big failure is Archos themselves. There store is terrible.

Other Thoughts: Overall, the design is good, but its not quite ready for US markets. You have to buy a codec pack from archos ($10 when I bought it) to play certain video types. And they provide no fitted cases for this tablet, so there are no real options for safely toting it around. But the functionality, minus the missing 3g and case, is phenomenal for a good e-reader, game, social networking, internet, etc platform

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Very fast, android 4.0, got it for 150 bucks off of newegg, shipped quick, has all the features of a more expensive unit at half the price and I very much do not regret my purchase after i've had time to test it out. It hooked into my home network easily and into is able to do anything that I could ask for a tablet to do.

Cons: The screen is a bit glossy but I haven't gotten a screen protector yet. I'm hoping that will cut down on the glare but when viewing from lower light it is very nice. My wife said that it was a bit heavy but in the same breath she asked where hers was...

Other Thoughts: I mainly bought it for a cheap Kindle type tablet, something that will let me read books and do some minimal online activities but this thing does so much more and i'm pretty happy overall with the purchase. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of getting a tablet but not interested in the 300 to 400 dollar price range.

4 out of 5 eggs1 out of 2 good

Pros: - quick dual-core processor
- Android ICS
- onboard storage is scalable with flash memory (sorry Apple, not drinking your Koolaid)
- nice quality display

Cons: - mini HDMI charger port is flimsy (loose) on both devices flaw
- kick stand feels a little cheap
- one of the units is seemingly DOA; following manufacturer battery charging recommendations and will update this review

Other Thoughts: - having problems getting a Motorola bluetooth keyboard to sync with this unit but no problem with the bluetooth mouse; won't treat it as a negative though
- if you buy this for kids I would really consider the accidental damage protection plan

1 out of 5 eggsDOA -Known problem for Archos

Pros: ON PAPER it should be an awesome product.
GPS, No bloated Apps, HDMI out, good price (with discount).

Cons: DOA. Screen would partially light up.

Other Thoughts: My first review of this product seemed to have not made it here. So, here goes again. I purchased both an 8" and 10.1" G9 at the same time, for my little boy and me. ON PAPER they had everything I wanted except a forward camera. This 8" unit was not working and would not boot even after trying to charge all night. The problems with the 10.1" G9 (another review) sealed the deal for two RMA's to Newegg, which they are great about. Sad. I wanted SO MUCH for these to work well.

1 out of 5 eggsFell WAY too short

Pros: Features - if they worked
Price - if it worked
GPS - if it worked

Cons: Cheap screen
No micro SD card cover
Flimsy connector
Screen would not display or unit would not boot
Weak GPS
Weak wireless

Other Thoughts: I SO wanted to LOVE this unit. Bought this 8" version for my little boy and a 10.1" version for me. IF it all worked and worked well, it would be a dream unit.
Things started bad when the boot screen would not come up when I plugged it in. It would remain half lit - a bit darker on one half of the screen. I could never really tell if it was a display problem, or a boot issue. Either way, the hardware was at fault. After checking Archos forums for ideas, I tried all of the fixes for lack of charge. No dice, the unit would never some up even when it appeared to be fully charged. I've RMA'd to Newegg. Shame, I really wanted GPS(!) on this smaller unit, plus HDMI. Wow, would have been nice.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Wonderful.

Pros: It does what it says on the tin! The screen is very nice and very bright, at home & in the office I am able to have the brightness turned down lower that 50%. Very fast processor & 1GB memory makes for a quick, responsive user experience. The kick-stand is a genius idea and the option for a 3G card is equally awesome. Good battery life that lasts me for a full workday with fairly frequent use ans has enough juice left over that I'm not "worried" about plugging it in the second I get home.

Cons: Well... it doesn't clean up after the dogs or make me coffee in the morning which was a disappointment >.<
Seriously though I guess all I could say is the screen is very reflective so it can be distracting in darker movie/TV scenes but every tablet I've ever handled has been similar in that way. Also, and full disclosure, I'm partially deaf in my left ear so don't take this as gospel, I don't think the speaker is too great. It's just the one speaker hole in the back but I didn't subtract any eggs because 1) it's still good enough & 2) I always use headphones so I only noticed when purposely testing it out.

Other Thoughts: I originally ordered the $99 eLocity A7 & returned it immediately (the thing didn't even have google play, just some cheap knockoff with only a few hundred sub-par apps). In comparison this tablet is 100 times better in every way.
I am a photographer so I was planning to purchase the same 1.5ghz version but with the 250GB hard drive (to act as a mobile backup for CF cards during shoots & while traveling) instead of this flash memory version but after doing some research & speaking with a colleague who has the hard drive version the general feeling I got was that it was way slower & that hard disc was a serious bottleneck (meaning it is the slowest part of a computer system so it slows everything down to it's pace, similar to "a team can only run as fast as the slowest man" kind of thing) so I decided to get the $199 8GB flash version instead and I don't regret. Definitely no speed complaints with this model, for sure.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!!

Pros: I have been searching for a tablet with a lot of features and this one has just about everything plus a fast dual core cpu the screen is large and vibrant, microsd is always nice for expandability

Cons: uh... i havent found any yet

Other Thoughts: the only thing that i wish was different is the screen ratio but thats for a custom install in my car.
