Pros: Great option to the windshield mount. It does stay in place just fine.

Cons: The bottom has a film covering a "sticky" base, which you are supposed to remove in order for the base to stick to your dash. It is not supposed to permanently stick, but it does leave residue on your dash. I could do without that. Looks bad having a gunked up dash when not using the mount.

Other Thoughts: If you live in a state that has made it illegal to mount items on your windshield, like CA & MN, this is a great option. Or, if you just don't want your GPS hanging from your windshield.

Pros: The friction surface keeps the mount exactly where you put it. The only way it's going to budge is if you flip your car over. If the friction material gets dirty you can simply wash it with a mild soap and its tacky again once it's dry. The flexibility of the base allows you to easily form it to the contours of your dash. Just remember the base is pretty sturdy so it doesn't fit like a glove.

I'm buying a second one for my wife's car.

Other Thoughts: People writing reviews about the return service need to remember these are reviews for how well the PRODUCT works, not about how you didn't read Neweggs return policy before you bought the item. This product doesn't deserve one egg because you're upset.

Cons: found a better mount on another site and bought that. tried to return for refund and it was past date. you should at least let it be returned and provide a credit to be used on your website.

Pros: This friction mount is solid (yet pliable so you can mold it to attach to your dashboard) and very durable. It definitely keeps your GPS unit in place and protects it from being banged around if you turn a corner a little too fast or a little too sharp.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I got this as part of a Shell Shocker deal at NewEgg (along with a Garmin nuvi 1250 GPS navigation unit) for a total cost of $67.99. I love both the friction mount and the GPS unit and am happy with my purchase.

Pros: So much easier than the windshield suction cup. Just snap it on and your GPS is secure and easily viewable.

Other Thoughts: With an after market mount that mounts to the air vent, my Tom Tom also fits the ball. Ordered another as soon as I discovered this.

Pros: This is the only mount that will stay on the dash and will not fly at each turn.

Cons: It would have been really nice to have the USB/power connector integrated in the mount, like it was on the older models. Now you need to plug-unplug.

Pros: If you like to drive quickly around turns, this product will keep your GPS on your dash.

Pros: I had wanted the beanbag version but it wasn't available where purchased, so decided to risk this version. I was very surprised by its grip on my dash, not exactly 'prepared pristinely' but more of a sleeve wipe for the dust. The base can be bent to match the dash if need be, not with any great precision but no big deal because this really really grips. When you're done with it, folds compactly to fit in the glove box. Sticks like glue, leaves no suction cup residue.

Cons: None, really. You want to save the plastic cover for the base when opening the package so that when you store the base, it won't be picking up any dirt or debris you might have in your glove compartment. Or keep a freezer bag for storage.

Other Thoughts: I borrowed a friend's Garmin 265W to see if Garmin's maps were compatible with my rural travels, and didn't take the suction cup or the bracket. It was a pain to have the GPS on the seat so I detoured into town to get a dash mount. This particular model, even without the bracket to mount the GPS, worked well enough by leaning the GPS against the raised bracket. I'd imagine rough gravel roads would cause it to slip, but the GPS stayed leaning on badly potholed spring roads. (I've since ordered my own 255W here at newegg and don't anticipate being without the GPS bracket in the future.)
