To make gaming as accessible to people of all ages and all abilities, Nintendo wanted to create a controller that was as inviting as it was sophisticated. The outcome is the Wii Remote. Nintendo fused the familiarity of a remote control with the sophistication of motion-sensing technology to come up with an input device for the ages!

Sporting the size of a traditional remote control, the wireless Wii Remote is a multifunctional device that is limited only by the game designer's imagination. In a tennis game, it serves as your racket you swing with your arm. In a driving game, it serves as your steering wheel. For first-person shooters, the Wii Remote acts as your weapon that you point at an enemy. The list of potential uses goes on and on.

In addition to its pointing and motion-sensing abilities, the Wii Remote also includes a speaker, rumble feature and expansion port for additional input devices, such as the Nunchuk.

The Classic Controller allows you to play classic games available through the Wii Shop Channel with ease. This controller is sold separately.

4 out of 5 eggsFun System

Pros: Lots of fun interactive children's games.

Cons: Sometimes the unit will turn on by itself. Battery life on controllers is real short. Be sure to take out batteries when not in use or they will drain.

5 out of 5 eggsMy First Gaming Console in 30 years.

Pros: Never thought I say this, coming from the 1st and 2nd generation video gaming era but I’m having an awesome playing the Wii console. At 1st glance the controls look complicated but are not, I was able to master the controls (Of course my kids mastered it faster). It actually works better to play most of the Wii games in a standing position and play into the games. However, there still those Wii games and GameCube Games (Yes if you did not know the Wii is backward compatible with The Nintendo GameCube) that you can still play traditionally Indian style or in your recliner.
Displays in either 480i or 480p, As long as you use the equipped Wii component cables and use a HDTV you still get a great picture with vibrant colors. Plus, as mentioned earlier you can buy a 3rd party converter to upscale the picture to 720p if you really need to.
Has 5.1 Stereo Surround Sound that is awesome when playing any of the games. For the full experience insure you plug into

Cons: As I am sure you by now know that the Wii will only display up to 480p HD natively by using the Component Cables. Nor will the Wii plug into a HDMI port natively either. However, there are now 3rd party converters out there that can upscale the picture to 720p and make it possible to plug into a HDMI plug port as well. There are also 3rd party cables available that will plug Wii component cables into HDMI plugs.
The Wii will not plug into your Home Entertainment/Theatre amplifier natively either. However, this can be circumvented as well (I did).
The Wii will only play GameCube formatted Mini-DVD optical discs and Wii formatted DVD optical Discs. The Wii will not play Normal DVD Discs (Movie Media or Data) and does not Support Blu-Ray Discs period.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this game system to anyone, there are literally hundreds to Thousands of games to choose from (Including the GameCube catalog). However I may put more of a emphasis on the Family model over the straight Gamer personality.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely love it

Pros: Wii is a great console and everybody knows this. Despite what others may say, Nintendo have revolutionized the gaming industry. I got this at a great Shell Shocker price and everything came and worked fine. This is definitely a great console to use with your family or to have or bring to a party. Has wireless capability which worked out fine. My girlfriend loves it too.

Cons: -One controller
-Expensive hardwares and games.

Other Thoughts: Love Newegg for their fast shipping as always.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Console Ever

Pros: The motion controls are excellent, years ahead of Microsoft and Sony. There is a wide range of games available, including hard-core ones like Call of Duty 4 and 5, the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, it really shines with the simpler, casual games like Wii Sports. It has excellent backwards compatibility, seeing as it can play ALL Gamecube games and has a large online store for older games. The store also has apps you can download in the form of Channels for the Wii Menu, the best of which is an Opera Web Browser. Online play is free on the Wii, and Wi-fi is easy to set up.

Cons: The graphics are only 480p, but still produce amazing visuals on some games. Generally, 3rd party games are lacking in the looks department, while Nintendo games have superb graphics. My largest complaint about the Wii is that it has no built-in DVD player, but this is augmented by the new Netflix Instant support. Wii controllers are expensive, so while the console is relatively cheap you may find the costs mounting up quickly.

Other Thoughts: Right now I'd say that this is the only console that justifies its own existence. The other two focus on graphics instead of gameplay, which is odd seeing as gaming PCs have way better visuals anyway. The Wii is the only console that can offer you a completely original experience.
