2 out of 5 eggsNot ready for primetime

Pros: Cheaper than a XBoxOne or a PS4.

Cons: Buggy system software which caused hard lockups, even after installing the most recent system updates.

Other Thoughts: Some games work, some don't. Seems to be a problem with either the disc reader or the system software. Sent back to Nintendo once and they replaced the disc reader, but system still exhibits the same issues. Some games work, some don't. When they don't work, the system just locks up hard and I have to unplug it to reset. Do some research and you will find that this issue is not unique to me.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat games, NOTHING else

Pros: Increasing great game library, plays old Wii games too, unique 2 screen experience in some games (love it or hate it), great sound, Mario games are finally in HD and look great.

Cons: The entire user interface is awful. It is SO slow, arguably the slowest interface to ever grace a game console. To the point that I do NOT want to use it for anything other than playing the latest Wii U game. Nothing else. Currently on the 3.1.0U update which I believe to be the latest. You also only get the gamepad controller which means NO multiplayer gaming until you buy another remote. And NO classic console gaming with the gamepad unless you upgrade (PAY) to convert those games to Wii U. So that's another reason you'll need to buy a remote after you've already bought the deluxe set. And the gamepad experience is overrated. I don't particularly care for it although it does have a certain appeal in games that utilize it well.

Other Thoughts: I have 5 bars wifi, 30mbps Internet, and when I turned on the Wii U for the first time it took over 2 hours to download and update. THEN each app I tried to go into (Netflix, Youtube, etc.) required an additional mandatory update so that was fairly absurd right out of the box. Speaking of Youtube, scrolling through the list of videos is slow and choppy. Going in and out of games or apps takes at BEST 10 seconds and sometimes lots longer. 10 seconds doesn't sound like a lot but if you have ever used an Xbox, Playstation, or even the Wii, you will likely quickly become frustrated with the overall clunky and slow user interface. It feels slow and choppy all the time, and I believe it's because they are constantly feeding data wirelessly to the HUGE AND CLUMSY gamepad controller. The inherent design of this system means that they are never going to be able to fix it with software updates. It is always going to be slow. Still, if you are a HUGE Nintendo fan, some of the games themselves are really great. That's really the one and only reason. I waited until it hit $299. Honestly? It's worth $149 in its current configuration and someday when Nintendo ultimately gives up on it you'll see it for under $99 on clearance, mark my words. Ambitious? Yes. Satisfying? Only the games themselves get it a 2 star ranking.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little console. Few games.

Pros: The console's interface and tablet controller are better than I expected. There are nice games in the pipeline from Nintendo. I picked this up to complement my gaming PC, since most PS4 and XB1 games are coming to PC but there's nowhere else for me to get my Nintendo fix.

Also, being able to switch to playing on the tablet is great for when someone else in my home wants to watch TV or for playing in bed.

Cons: 3rd party game support is pretty bad, but that shouldn't really matter if you already have another console. Know that you are getting this for the exclusives. Would not recommend as your only console.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed with the Wii U

Pros: High Definition. Gamepad is useful for Call of Duty's multi player mode. So much potential with the Gamepad. Faster loading times than what I experience on my other consoles for the similar games. I love that it is backwards compatible with the Wii games and accessories. This just added bang for my buck.

Cons: Currently, the game library is somewhat limited, although I do own 10+ games and they are more than enough for me at the moment but I keep hearing people mention this over and over.

Other Thoughts: I've been enjoying my system and have enjoyed all the games I have played so far. I also use it for Netflix viewing on my big screen television, although, the Netflix application does seem a little out-dated and it could use an update to further enhance the user experience. Overall, this is the best system I've owned and I have had them all. I can't compare it to the systems that haven't come out yet but it is the best system out there now.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat system not to many games

Pros: This system is very fun and challenges you in different ways using the unique control pad.

Cons: Not enough games that utilize the full extent of the Gamepad, Even the new Super Mario U does not use the full extent of the game pad.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a game that can show you what the Gamepad can do in terms of changing game play style, then get the game ZombieU which uses the Gamepad as a necessary tool to survive.

5 out of 5 eggsWii U

Pros: What can I say? I love this Wii U. I hope it can survive all of this negativity from fanboys and 3rd party devs. I love the ability to play my games either on the tv or off. I can watch my television shows and game on the tablet controller in-between the commercials. While connected to the internet you can gamecast sports on the web which is also cool. The virtual console is coming along and all of your favorite nintendo classics are going to available for purchase. The graphics are a huge bump up from the original wii. I would say it looks like a slight bump from 360/ps3. The graphics look enhanced by the unit rendering in 1080p as opposed to 720 on existing consoles. I went from PS3 to Wii U is because to be honest with you outside Uncharted and all of the usual cross platform games I wasn't having fun at all. I feel like this generation of gamers all they care about is first person shooter multiplayer and graphics. Not only does the Wii U push the graphics to compete but it's actually FUN. I love being able to watch tv and browse the internet on the tablet. Heck you could even pause the game and go on youtube and watch videos without turning off your game. Youtube and all of your favorite video applications look beautiful in high def. Why are you still reading this post? Buy this unit from Newegg right now! The consumers have to dictate what we want from games not the game developers. I don't want to play Call of Duty 18 and Battlefield 20 all the time. Not everything is about graphics only. Take it from me someone who isn't just about playing Kratos of War or Halo rehashes this system is fun and only going to get better.

Cons: Only one player can use the tablet. A price drop is necessary because of all the peripherals you need. Lack of 3rd party support is huge and can't be ignored. EA is mad at nintendo for not using origin and now they wont release their core titles like Madden, Crysis, Sims, Battlefield etc. It seems like the flavor of the month is to bash this system because it doesnt have the sales but then the developers won't put their games on it so who wants to buy it? Games are currently locked into the system meaning they are non transferable. Tablet plays for about 3-5 hours at a time and needs 2 hours to charge. 1st party games are still being developed. They just need one killer game to start pushing sales and I think we are going to have to wait until 2014 when Zelda is released. So far nintendo has lost it's way with the fans by targeting youtube video posters and a complete lack of marketing. Alot of the casual gamers who bought the original wii have no idea this a an entirely new system. An ad on television or radio/internet would help.

5 out of 5 eggsNintendo Wii U Deluxe

Pros: HD. Finally. Beautiful slick interface and console. Fantastic dual-screen gamepad technology... Like playing on a giant HD DS. Wii game compatible. Wii-mote and Nunchuck controller compatible with games. Miiverse social environment works very well. I personally enjoy interacting with other players around the world, especially regarding the games I play. The ability to download games and store on any size harddrive. The apps run great. Games can be played directly on the touchscreen gamepad, not needing the TV. Surfing the Internet works very well with the control scheme. It's also very quick and fluid. Launch titles are decent but I anticipate amazing things to come, especially from first party titles.

Cons: Long boot-up time. Updates could take hours. (Warning: do not turn off system during update) Annoying load times between apps and modes. Wii mode has to boot separately in order to play Wii games. Touchscreen gamepad's battery only last a few hours. (This may not seem that bad, but recharge time takes a couple of hours). Very few apps and downloads currently available... I imagine all of this will change during the first full year of Wii U's release. It is quite a process to move saves and information from a Wii to a Wii U. (But it works and I have done it with no problems)

Other Thoughts: The Wii U is truly not next gen. It is more like enhanced "current" gen with some cool hardware tricks. But as a true Nintendo fan, I look forward to the amazing innovative first party games that will be made to play in ...finally... HD.
