The screen is arguably the most important component of a handheld gaming device. Users expect HD graphics, bright colors and minimal glare - the Sony PSP 3000 offers all three in spades. The gadget represents a marked leap forward for Sony's mobile consoles, partially due to its 4.3-inch screen.

One of the display's most important features is its matte finish. The extra coat reduces the glare from external light sources so that the graphics and color quality are sharp in every environment. The PSP offers the same excellent visuals in complete darkness and direct light.

Games are as sharp on the Sony PSP as they are on the PS3. Additionally, gamers can find mobile versions of many of their favorite PlayStation titlesso they can play anywhere. Titles can also be downloaded over a Wi-Fi connection.

Apps and programs require large amounts of space. Fortunately, the PSP supports external storage devices so you can save all of your favorite games without having to erase other files to free up some room.

Memory sticks can save much more than games and can turn your PSP 3000 into a mobile media hub. You can download anything from comic books to movies and any entertainment options in between.

The PSP isn't limited to visual mediums either - you can download music and podcasts. The handhelds feature powerful internal speakers that produce crisp sound with minimal distortion even at high levels.

Sony's mobile device offers a powerful performance that can't be matched by comparable devices. The PSP has a vast array of entertainment options so you'll never be bored. With its HD graphics and excellent features, it may be the best handheld console currently available.

5 out of 5 eggspsp

Pros: i had it for 2 years before seeing any problems out of it

Cons: after about 2 years my power button started to stick a little

Other Thoughts: its not a con but the only reason it messed up on me was some one slammed a door into my pocket and broke the screen

2 out of 5 eggsBroke within 4 months of Christmas

Pros: Was a Christmas gift for my nephew and he loved it while it worked. He and his friends were able to connect up and play games together. He was on top of the world.

Cons: About 2 weeks ago he stated that his button was beginning to stick. Today he called me and said it was unusable anymore. I just picked it up and tried it out myself and the right direction pad button does in fact stick to the slightest touch (even if you press a different direction pad button.)

Other Thoughts: Dealing with the manufacturer is something that I am not looking forward to......

4 out of 5 eggsLighter on the Station

Pros: As always...Newegg you are the BEST! . As far as the device goes, for $100 (during the November SALE), you can't complain. The system will do what it is what is supposed to do. Processor speed is the same as well as picture/video quality; which remains intact. The device is much lighter a plus for some that are looking for a lighter portable console.

Cons: I have been a Sony customer hence Sony was buddies with Nintendo back in the 80s. I have purchased many of their products and have had my share of disappointments. This product is much lighter than its predecessors. The internal components seem the same, but some of the materials seem thinner (for some reason). Although I have not been able to test all ***yet. I will attempt to warebreak and see if the results are as promising as the first models.

Other Thoughts: Once again, thank you Newegg for the two day "FREE" shipping. You continue to have a loyal customer.

4 out of 5 eggs3000 vs 2000

Pros: The 2000's processing capabilities are much improved in 3000 model. This means quicker loading, A/V decoding, better Skype quality, etc..

Cons: 'Some' owners of the 2000 have no need for the UMD; however, owners of the 3000 will need it due to the added tamper prevention. So it seems reasonable to assume the 3000 will need its battery recharged more frequently with upgraded CPU and need to power the UMD spindle & stepper motors.

This model also will also be the last to feature a UMD, so you can bet that new game/apps/movies/etc. will NOT be distributed via UMD.

Other Thoughts: The UMD (for many) is a complete waste of space. It would be nice if conversion kits were available to allow for additional or even just a much larger power cell, additional SD slots (or on-board memory), slide-out keypad to use in lieu of the clunky on-screen e-board or other perk(s) to replace the technology they're phasing out.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Might be cool if the buttons worked properly

Cons: Triangle and circle buttons linked somehow. Pushing one activates both of them. Makes the unit worthless for gaming and even navigating menus.

1 out of 5 eggsSony SUCK!

Pros: Everything was great at frist...

Cons: After about 3 months with my new psp system... the ac adaptor quit working... I sent it back to sony but, all's they've done is give me the run around on a replacement. I've faxed a copy of my invoice from newegg but, they say they didn't get it. I work a fedex and i know the faxes work... they use them every day.

Other Thoughts: I've been a die hard sony fan since the playstation 1. Ive owned one since 1997, have a playstation 2 and an older psp-1000. So im not blowing a bunch of hot air. Sony, it was not nice doing bussiness with you. when it comes to tv's in the future... im going with another company. gaming systems... pc or wii... other wise... forget it. im done with sony!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I don't know why people would give this a bad review...its amazing. You can download/upload movies onto it games, other apps and you can play games. It's pretty much a buffed up ipod. I don't know what that guys talking about, you can play plenty of fps's socom?

Cons: it's only 170 bucks, cheaper than an ipod and can do way more, I'm suprized they didn't make it into a phone to.
