Are you tired of rewrites and reruns of the same old survival-horror stories? Are you ready for a game with a more realistic feel? Sink your teeth into Alone in the Dark and step into the shoes of Edward “The Reptile” Carnby, paranormal investigator, as he probes the strange occurrences in Central Park, New York.

No armor, swords, or magic wands are available (tights and capes are out too); just your trusty trench coat and whatever flotsam you can find, or modify, for use as a weapon. Prepare to battle (or run from) horrific creatures as you investigate the strange events that have plagued the park. It is up to you to find out what is causing these supernatural occurrences, and what they could mean for the future of New York.

Central Park’s darkest secrets will be revealed in an episodic format - complete with trailers, cliff-hanger endings, and tantalizing teasers – in rich graphic detail that will keep you riveted to your seat. Are you afraid of the dark?

4 out of 5 eggsUnder-rated

Pros: If you like good scfi-horror survival scare than this is a game for you. The neat concept of the game is its TV series theme with each so called episodes. Granted its not your latest Resident Evil with absolute perfect polished gameplay and graphics but has a high entertainment value at the end of the day.

Cons: minor level unpolished environments.

Other Thoughts: The game is severely under-rated by people that demand too high of standards that look at superficial aspects instead of content.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Game

Pros: The Story is interesting , it takes you far , and feeds you just enough to keep going.

The weapon system is really fun when you start making molotov cocktails , or fire bullets.

You dont just walk through the areas , and shoot at the head of the humanz you actually need your environment to kill them in most cases.

Everything is not standing in front of you , you need to figure out what to do next to get to the next area.

Its more interesting when you need to keep an eye on how many batterys you have left , or bullets , or health spray / bandages.

You can fill up your inventory at times so you need to take what is important.

Sometimes you will need to jumpstart a car with monsters on your tail. So you get a good thrill there , at least I did.

The camera is good and bad , sometimes you want to look at things in more detail so you can go first person.
Works really well , and its great when you need to shoot things.

Also you can die from blood loss.

Cons: Not really knowing what turn to take when driving makes you need to redo that bit again and again sometimes. But when you finally figure it out its still fun.

The camera is good and bad , sometimes you want to have more control when not in the first person mode.

When you are holding a object you gotta get that right thumbstick the correct way or you wont swing the object how you want. Once you get used to it its much easier.

Other Thoughts: I was a bit skepticle when I bought it. But Im enjoying it , and heres a side note. I didnt really like this option cause then some people can just skip through and not get everything out of it. Each episode of the story is like a series of chapters in a dvd. You can skip a chapter in a episode if you want. Lets say you get stuck , then it could be good. If you drive on and tough it out , you get an achievement for not skipping a chapter. Also getting you the whole story. I havn't done it yet , so I'm not sure if they update you with a video or not , but I'm sure they would.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: The creativity, graphics are OK, puzzles are OK

Cons: Controls are trash, low replay value, game is very buggy, voice acting, puzzles don't mix well with the controls, gets repetitive,

Other Thoughts: I had a lot of hype for this game after watching tech demos and whatnot but when I finally got the game for my 360, I was disappointed. I pretty much had to check the box to make sure I was playing the right game. All the hype for this game just went strait out the window after playing it. The main thing were the controls. They were creative with it but it was hard to get used to and just plain bad. During the driving scene, there is a time where a part of the game doesn't load fast enough and you fall through the floor. I took the suggestions of some and just waited for the floor to load in order to move forward in the game. The story line wasn't as compelling as I thought and thus, got boring fast. Enemies are frustrating to kill. There is a special way to kill them but sadly, is the only way. And don't forget about the horrid controls, which makes it harder to make sure they don't come back alive. Still, this game is worth a shot. Would suggest renting it first.
