During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice; unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos. Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible: The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls; the Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.

In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader; visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility; decisions made by players throughout the game will determine the path of the story, including multiple endings that will rock Star Wars continuity as they know it; the Force Unleashed is LucasArts' first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's Presidio district.

3 out of 5 eggsSlightly Above Average...

Pros: The graphics are good and the sound effects are spot on. There are moments in the game that very successfully convey the feeling of being a powerful sith apprentice. There are enough force powers and abilities to make the gameplay as varied as you want it to be, but...

Cons: The camera is one of the most difficult enemies you have to fight in this game. At its worst this game becomes a mindless hack and slash making most if not all of the force powers unnecessary. There are platforming levels that are just flat out broken. Overall the entire game experience gives me the impression that about 2/3 of the way through the development cycle the decision was made to "ship it now." In fact, the single most disappointing aspect to SW:TFU is the numerous glimpses at what a truly extraordinary game this could have been. Oh, and there are quick time events...'nuff said.

Other Thoughts: I still recommend this game to anyone who is even a slight fan of the Star Wars saga. This game is worth the price of admission for the story alone.

5 out of 5 eggsGood game for the fans

Pros: Good Star Wars game for the fans. Best Star Wars game ever made. Come back to it over and over to play again.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you're not a Star Wars fan or really like Star Wars, this game might not be for you, but if you are, this will be a perfect edition.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Fun for a little while.

Cons: No online or any type of deathmatch modes so the campaign gets boring rather quickly.

5 out of 5 eggsSasquatch

Pros: Graphics, story line, all the different force combos and saber attacks, the level design and sheer fast paced action. I bought the game last year and beat it on Sith Warrior (Normal). I recently just beat it on Sith Lord (Insane). It was well worth the second play through; especially since i 'am a huge Star Wars fan. The Boss battles are really cool; especially the mini game endings to each fight. The force lighting looks great and the game plays very smooth
- very challenging on Sith Lord
- DLC stuff is great. tons of characters to play through with and the Jedi Temple mission was better than I had expected

Cons: - mini game endings are the same button configuration all the time for each type of boss. Once you know it, it's a joke. At least you can then watch the majority of the battle instead of always focusing on the screen waiting to see the next button to press
- Kazdan Paratus - the second level boss. For some reaosn, he was the most difficult boss to fight, even on the Sith Lord difficulty. Darth Maul and Vader were a joke compared to him.
- Too bad there's no talks about making this game into a movie. It derserves it, as long as Lucas has nothing to do with it
- game was too short
- no other DLC has been released

Other Thoughts: If you're a Star Wars freak, you'll love it.

4 out of 5 eggsFun game, but pretty short...

Pros: Excellent graphics, audio, gameplay, and story. I really enjoyed the cutscenes between missions, as they were top notch (arguably more interesting than the latest three movies). The game is a lot fun. Also, I thought the camera and targeting aspects worked just fine. There were a couple of problems (software bugs) here and there, but it wasn't a big deal.

Cons: Surprisingly short game (only about 7 missions), only requiring about 8 hours to finish. There should have been more missions, more locations, and a multiplayer mode. Unless you're a diehard fan of Star Wars games (like me), I would recommend renting this game as several other posters have mentioned. Maybe the publisher will release some extra material/missions to expand the game. Also, the saber fighting is not technical like Jedi Outcast/Academy on the PC, but it is enjoyable nonetheless.

Other Thoughts: I should have purchased this from Newegg, as it would have saved me a few dollars, but it was an impulsive purchase at a local store.

Juno Eclipse is hot!!!

4 out of 5 eggsThe Force IS with this game

Pros: Beautiful graphics, excelent story, awesome physics, great force powers and lightsaber combos. Enemies are tough, quick, somehow intelligent, and display a wide range of weapons to knock you down, and they KNOW how to use them. Darth Vader as its best. I like so much being able to grab pretty much anything and charge it with lightning power and throw it away to a bunch of enemies. Combos look awesome, hard to pull out a couple of them but makes the game chalenging. Is very addictive, and you have to be very fast and what you do, you can't just stand there charge your force push and try to kill everyone, they will just shot you down in no time, neither have all the time to grab an object and throw it before somebody hits you with a homing missile. On tougher levels you have to always keep moving, and combine all your combo lightsaber/force skills... variety is your ally.

Cons: It's probably too short, but I've been playing for the past 2 weeks, and the last 2 nights I've been going to bed past 2am. So, doing the math, I've been playing for more than 10 hours and I'm not finished yet, and I "think" I'm on the last mission. But I do not like to rush into games. Although COD4 is waaaaay shorter, which I finished it in less than 5 hours.
Other "actual" con for me is it has a couple of glitches, and performance issues. Luckily haven't stopped me from continue playing. And the loading screens, I'm ok with them when loading saved files or maps, but is annoying when browsing through the menus, I don't get it. That's why 4/5 rating.
More than that, is great. Camera angles are ok compared to the same type of games is not that bad, neither the targeting system (I've heard so much whining about it) I mean, considering that you can grab almost everything from the world, it works great, at least, it works great for me.
No multiplayer :(

Other Thoughts: If you are concerned about some really bad reviews from other gamers, just go rent it first and find by yourself. If you are a star wars fan, I think you'll gonna like it.
This just confirms one thing for me: Darth Vader is the baddest, "evilest", heartless, MF, of the entire universe, parallel universes, and all alike. And the Emperor the most patient, evil mastermind of all.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Game - Very Fun to Play!

Pros: If you are a Star Wars fan and have ever dreamed of being a Jedi knight then this game is a must have. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game and consider it the closest simulation yet of being a Jedi. During the game you are able to learn and use a range of force powers on objects and opponents. Learning to master the use of these force powers improves your effectiveness in combat, just like the Jedi in the Star Wars movies. I enjoyed the challenge of practicing with different force combos to see which were the most effective against different opponents. As I got better at using them I became much more deadly to my opponents and I took far less damage myself. I can't wait to go through the entire game all over again!

Cons: The game is single player only and it would be better if it had multi-player. I finished it in two weeks of spare time game playing. It felt like a good amount of content, but more would always be better. Hopefully there will be a sequel or additional scenarios on XBox Live.

Other Thoughts: Based on the other reviews I think many people got frustrated in combat and resorted to basic light saber and force combos to muscle / rush their way through the various scenarios. I think they would have enjoyed the game much more if they slowed down and learned to master their various force powers. Skillful use of the force requires practice as any good Jedi knows. The game gives more points for using different powers and some creativity in combat to defeat opponents. Anyone can swing a light saber, but defeating opponents while taking minimal damage requires skill. I found that practicing force powers improved my effectiveness, especially against tougher opponents. The training room on the ship provides the perfect opportunity to get better at the force combos and to learn how to effectively take on numerous opponents and defeat them.

2 out of 5 eggseh... not so good

Pros: The new physics engine for materials is kinda cool, but its not done for every object or even most objects, which defeats its purpose. It's fun to mess with lone stormtroopers and rebels. The story wasn't that bad for me, I guess it kept with the movies and all. And... uh... ... hmm... not much else

Cons: Here's a game that sounded like it had potential at the beginning then crashed in a fireball of torn hopes. Here I am hoping this was gonna be a fun hack n' slash, but no you get a game that has a confusing structure and weak gameplay. Your character takes too (and I mean toooo) long to do any action and when you finally are able to force grab something your targeter has changed and you end up being surrounded by 3 guys with sticks (which can block lightsabers) and smacked around for 5 minutes because the developers didn't have the decency to put in a saber block button. Boss fights are worthless. You spend all your time learning combos and training only to be confronted by a boss that is immune to most of your force powers, blocks most of your attacks, and in the end you kill them by a simple (and rather easy) button tapping sequence? *shakes head and sighs*

Other Thoughts: Listen I'm not saying don't play the game, if you desperately love Star Wars you might actually kinda enjoy the story. Everyone else though, there are much better games to waste your time on (Fable 2, GTA4, Fallout 3). This is an example where the developers had a great idea that could "innovate" the game world, but when it came down to it the idea took over and left the game seriously lacking.
