1 out of 5 eggsBroke after a few months

Pros: Comfortable

Cons: It stopped working after a few months for no reason.
Battery life is bad.
Razer support is awful.

Other Thoughts: Beware of buying Razer. Wasted a lot of money on Razer products only to be disappointed by faulty and lackluster products. Support is unhelpful and uncaring. I'm sure someone out there likes Razer, but everything I've bought from them have only disappointed me. Just warning anyone out there to do research before buying anything from Razer.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty Awesome Set of Cups

Pros: First off, I'd like to admit that I didn't get my Chimaera from Newegg. I was able to get a pair second hand for a great deal. That being said i'm still fairly pleased with the overall performance. I received it with what i think were the original batteries and drained as they were they still provided a few hours at a time. Thank goodness you can use any AAA rechargeable though.

The large padded cups are comfortable on the ears and block out a good deal of outside noise but not so much that you feel 100% shut off. The overall design has a nice sleek look that goes well with the rest of the razer line notably the Hydra which shares the stealth bomber look.

The sound is full and even without any harshness or shredding. They are pretty mellow sounding but once you get passed the setup and hear the virtual environment it creates it makes sense why you wouldn't want too many extremes. Of course this can be adjusted with EQ

I really like the volume controls and mute buttons on the cups as well as the auto muting microphone when you fold it back up.

Cons: The set up to get surround sound on PC is a bit laborious. If you have an optical jack I suppose you just plug it right in and you're good to go. But if you want 5.1 surround with a pc and you only have rca cords then it takes a bit of tinkering.

This is what i've come up with, hopefully a Razer employee will set me straight if i'm wrong, but i have cables from the L and R jacks on the back of the stand plugged into a Y adapter that goes into my green jack as the "Front Speaker Out". Then I have a standard 3.5 rca running from the stand's out to the pink jack as the rear speaker out.

In the audio manager the rear speaker is set to the subwoofer and I have "swap center/subwoofer output" checked.

This seems to get the best effect and sound the least "woofy", but I can't seem to find any set up for full 5.1 that doesn't involve an optical cable. This setup also seems to enable me from using my microphone because i'm re purposing it's jack as another audio out.

Random Cons:
I seem to get a bit of a headache after a while, it might be other factors but i never really used to get many headaches with my old pair. I keep punching the side buttons with my shoulder if i lean my head. The charging base is enormous, don't get me wrong, it's cool to look at too but i simply don't have the room. It's hard to read the jacks in the back of the stand at night because the green light is so bright. The headphones seem a little wobbly on the stand too. The mode button on the right cup is confusing.

Other Thoughts: Honestly for the price I got it I don't mind it at all. To me these things are a 5 star rating, I already had some extra cables laying around and knew I was going to have to rig it up abit to make it work in my system, but to someone spending 200 bucks only to find out they need to buy more cables just to get a simulated 5.1 experience without the use of their microphone, I can see how it might be a little bothersome.
Battlefield 3 sounds amazing but Skyrim has problems with directional audio if I don't have the settings tweaked correctly. I've been mostly listening to music through these lately and they sound fine. It takes some adjustment anytime you convert to a different pair of headphones so give these a week and some hours fiddling with the EQ to get the right sound.

5 out of 5 eggsTHE PC/Xbox360 Headset

Pros: Obviously, it works with PC and Xbox 360.
Its battery life is pretty reasonable.
The setup is pretty straight-forward. The quick start guide tells you everything you need to get it ready. It took me roughly 5 minutes to get it all ready.
The green led trim on the bottom of the charging station is really nice.
The buttons for the headset are simple and memorable.
The options of headband adjustments (1-10) are very resourceful.

Cons: There is static, but that is most certainly expected because it is WIRELESS!

Other Thoughts: * RCA to 3.5mm cable required and sold separately
This is one that would work for 5 dollars that is plenty long enough for the job.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent headset if you find it cheap

Pros: Has optical audio, supports xbox 360 and PC.
The sound quality is very good on these cans.
Supports multiple sources.
5.1 audio.
Uses standard AAA or rechargeables so no battery replacement.
I personally find it comfortable, but maybe I have a small head.

Cons: You only get 5.1 surround when using optical audio, which they hide in the fine print of the site.
But the mic does not work on PC if you are using optical audio for some odd reason (a major con).
You need to connect via a cord to the xbox controller for voice chat.
The headset boom is very flimsy and mine recently broke from normal use. Now it is kept together with duct tape.
A fully charged set of AAA last around 5-6 hours.

Other Thoughts: A decent mic for supporting both 360 and PC. I only prefer them because they natively support both 360 and PC.
Which slightly outweighs the fact that I can't use optical audio and the mic at the same time while on the PC.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: As others have stated these are great wireless headphones. The sound is very very good. I use these occasionally and only got them due to them being wireless.

Cons: After awhile they give me a headache, not so much to being uncomfortable but they are kind of tight on my dome.

Other Thoughts: To the last reviewer ....Rage harder that your an idiot. No one especially a supervisor from Newegg yelled at you. Also no one told you that you could order them try them on and return them for a while refund when at the on the products description it clearly states. Please do not blame others for your stupidity.

Return for refund within: non-refundable item
Return for replacement within: 30 days

1 out of 5 eggsShould have listened to the reviews.

Pros: Good sound.

Cons: Battery life is pathetic. The day I got this headset I let it charge over night to make sure it was fully charged. The longest time, before the batteries die, I get is 2 hours and 15 minutes. The majority of the time I only get about 1 hour and 30 minutes. In my opinion two rechargeable AAA batteries will never last 8 hours in a 5.1 surround headset. This headset should have been designed with a more modern rechargeable battery system.

Other Thoughts: Setup instructions leave much to be desired. Once I linked the headset to the base it took me 30 minutes to get sound to come through the headset. The input select button does not respond to being pushed the slightest bit too long. I had to jab at it as fast as I could to finally get it to change to the optical input.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Todd,

Please contact our Customer Support team at http://razersupport.com/email - the issues you're having might be indicative of a defect. Sorry to hear that you've had trouble with it so far.

Thank you for understanding.

Regards,

3 out of 5 eggsNo Pivot but great sound quality

Pros: Great sound, excellent base/charger design, digital input, range - can walk all over the house.

Cons: Earpieces do not pivot. This headset is not as comfortable as the Logitech Wireless Headset F540.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great headset, but the lack of pivot for the earpieces means a less than optimal fit.

1 out of 5 eggsHORRIBLE

Pros: 20 bucks cheaper than of Razerzone.com,
But I sure paid my 20 bucks, and then some.

Cons: Newegg forgot to send my headphones for 10 days. I called the company, and they didn't even apologize. I happened to ask if i opened the headphones, and they didn't fit, if I could return them and get a full refund. These headphones were literally half the size of my head. I fit the carchinas perfectly, but these, there was no way. So i called to return. The person said that if I returned them I could get it all in gift card, but none in cash. I had him transfer me to the person in charge, and the first thing she did was started yelling. I told her that when I had called in, they said if I opened the headphones and then returned them i could get a full refund. The lady said "that doesn't matter, it was on our website that this is a non refundable item" I said "I thought if one of your representatives told me this than it was true" at this point the lady yelled at me about why I didn't read the fine print. OUT OF SPACE, READ OTHER THOUGHTS FOR REST OF STORY VVV

Other Thoughts: At this point, I was pretty impatient. I told her "Look, if the man told me I could return them for a full refund, I should be able to return them for a full refund! Are you really gonna let your company lie to me?" she said "I can let you return it, but you will not get all of your money back" Overall, I spent 20 dollars on two day shipping that took a total of 14, and then when i returned it I lost 25. in total i lost 45$. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Well Newegg, I hope you realize you lost another customer
